Day Two (1)
Danica awoke the next morning in an abrupt manner, gasping for massive amounts of air. At first, her heart pounded against her chest viciously, but it soon steadied upon realising she was back in the tree.
With a hand on her chest, Dan leaned back onto the tree trunk, trying to calm her trembling body. 'Had it been a nightmare?' she asked herself, surprised everything that happened was just a dream...everything, even the detailed factors, they all felt and seemed so real.
"Danica?" The girl flinched upon hearing the sudden call. The first thing that entered her mind was the alien, could she be back? 'Ridiculous,' she told herself, realising it was only Changbin.
"Here," she yelled back as she got out of the tree. He took one good look at her before laughing hysterically but was immediately, hit and shushed by Chris, who wore a long hoodie that covered his whole top-half including his hands and face. It reminded her of the aliens as they always wore black hoods covering their faces entirely.
"Don't laugh at her," he hissed as he approached the teenage girl. "Did you by any chance bring a comb or brush?" he asked her to which she instantly pulled a brush out of her bag. He got behind her and began to brush her hair, so it wasn't flying in all directions like it had been before.
Once he finished, he handed the brush back to her before asking where to go. A part of her wanted to go in the direction she had gone in the dream but something inside told her it wasn't safe. Suddenly, she remembered the alien she had seen; he was an alien, in deed. No doubt about that. However, he easily resembled a villain with his metallic arm and he silver patch that covered his left eye. A long dark scar ran from the inside of where his right eyebrow was supposed to be, through his left eye, curving near his ear, and ending right before his mouth.
"Danny?!" the two boys shouted in unison, snapping her back to earth.
"Yeah? Huh?" she asked, pretending nothing had happened.
"What's up with you? We called you about a dozen times," Chris told her.
"Oh, I-I was just thinking about which route to go."
"So?"
"So, what?"
"Which route should we go?"
"Oh, that...uhm." She looked around, "this way." With that she began walking in the direction opposite the one she had gone in during her dream. Chris and Changbin waited behind, watching as she flinched at tree branches and continuously stop to question which direction she would go it.
"Is it just me or is she a little too fidgety today?" Changbin asked the older male despite the answer being crystal clear.
"Something happened between last night and this morning," Chris responded as he began to follow the girl.
"Nightmare maybe?"
"After everything that happened yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised."

It wasn't long until the trio exited the forest and met another road. Fortunately for them, there were no skeletons or anything rather peculiar on it. It was a normal road.
"Let's follow the road until we get to some kind of civilisation. I'm starving right now," Changbin suggested.
"We can't," was the girl's response.
"Why not? Can you sense more aliens coming for us?" Chris asked, frustrated because, he too, felt as though he'd end up eating one of them if he didn't get something to eat soon. Danny was also hungry but her fear and wary overpowered, so she continued walking straight, across the road, towards the empty, desert-like terrain.
"I don't have super alien powers, Chris. I told you roughly what Ariana told me to be careful of. I just used that knowledge to understand what the heck happened at the last road."
"Well tell me, Dan, do you see any traps? No, now lets just go get something to eat."
"I'm not worried about traps anymore. Those aliens that were following us know we were there, they'll come back for us."
"And how did they know we were there?" Danica never mentioned the fact one of the aliens from before had looked in her direction or would she ever announce anything from her dream, so she shrugged.
"I left my shoe."
"So? For all they know we could be kilometres ahead of them."
"Aliens are fast creatures, soon they'll realise we aren't ahead of them and besides, what if other aliens come down this road?"
"Whatever, Dan." The girl paused, realising his voice sounded as if it came from far. Turning back, she noticed the boys already far away from her, following the road.
"Are you two idiots?!" She shrieked loud enough for them to hear but they chose to ignore her. At this point, they couldn't be bothered to listen to more of her theories or worries, although they both knew how logical they were. "Come here right now!" They continued, not fazed by her stern voice. "I demand you two to-"
"We've been following you for a day but now I guess it's time for us to part ways. Go to your destination and we'll go to ours because neither of us are following you," Chris shouted back, earning a sigh of both frustration and disbelief from the girl.
"Fine then, we'll see how you'll survive!" With that she began her journey to the empty horizon, hoping they would follow.
After a while of walking, she turned back to look at them. They were nowhere to be seen. Danica's heart instantly sunk. They hadn't followed and being completely defenceless, both were bound to die. The girl, on the other hand, had a chance with the loaded gun in her pocket.
Sighing and running a hand through her hair, she began to sprint after the boys hoping, by all means they were still safe.
"Do you guys have any brains?" She asked once she caught up. The boys turned to her, Changbin with a smirk on his face and although his face was still not visible, she knew Chris was doing the same.
"Knew you'd eventually come," he uttered in a smug manner.
"Shut up, will you? I only came because someone needs to protect you defenceless douchebags."
"Aw! Were you worried about us?" Changbin cooed, earning a glare from Danica.
"You shut your stupid mouth, too, Changbin. I ain't playing games anymore." Both of the boys paused. It was the first they had ever seen the girl this serious and angry. In all honesty, it frightened them a little. "And will you, for goodness' sake Chris, take that stupid hoodie off? You're gonna get sick."
"I'm fine, Dan," he insisted as he hastily walked ahead of them. Weird. Danny instantly looked at Changbin for an answer, but he simply shrugged.

The road ran for kilometres on end and yet still there was nothing in sight. Which led the girl to question it? What if it too was a trap to get them far from the forest and out of hiding.
"What's that?" Changbin's voice snapped her out of her thoughts.
"Huh?" she asked, confused. He pointed to her arm. There was a scar and Danica suddenly felt her heart drop. It couldn't be. She didn't want it to be. But there it was; a scar placed right where the alien from her dream had stabbed it.
"You okay? You look pale." She shook her head, struggling to gulp her saliva down her throat.
"I'm fine...the scar...it..." She wanted to tell him about the dream...no, it wasn't a dream, it was real. It happened. She wanted to tell him about what had happened during the night. She wanted to tell him about Ariana's sister, about the liquid she drank, about the corridor of aliens but most importantly, about the alien that made the scar. But she couldn't. When ever she tried nothing would come out so instead she made up a lie to cover it up. "I scratched myself on a tree branch last night."
"Oh..." He was quiet for a while before chuckling. "Idiot," he mumbled. "Next time be careful when you pick a sleeping position." She smiled at him.
"Why are you so caring all of a sudden? Especially to me of all people? You hate me." He avoided eye contact.
"I don't hate you...I never did," his voice was quiet, surprising her at how shy he became.
"Then why were you so cold towards me?"
"Because...you see, this is why I don't try to look after you."
"Fine, I'll stop. Just...please continue caring for me." Her words shocked him enough to finally make him look at her. They were staring into each other's eyes, both too mesmerised to break the eye contact until Chris suddenly yelled to them.
"What was that?" Dan asked as she ran to the older male with her cheeks burning up. She tried to convince herself that it was because it was hot but then how would she explain her fluttering heart?
"Do you see that?" He asked, pointing at a couple of rectangles and squares standing by the horizon. A smile was plastered on Changbin's face as he uttered, "Buildings?"
The two males began to increase their pace as they headed to the horizon. Danica stayed behind for a while. Something deep down still compelled her from going. But she shrugged it off and let her hunger and thirst take over her rationality. However, was that the right choice?
