Day Three (3)
Danny woke in an erupt manner once again, panting heavily. She awoke to a comfortable position, warm only due to feeling of someone else's body heat against her. Jisung was hugging her, she realised. He was holding onto her tightly as he caressed the back of her head. They were crouched down onto the dry, leafy ground of the forest.
"Uh, Jisung?" She spoke up, making pull away instantly with a relieved smile upon his face.
"Thank goodness, you're awake. I was worried sick," he told her pulling her into a brief hug.
"What happened?" She asked him as she looked around. They were still in the forest, she noted but she was sure this wasn't the place she passed out at.
"An alien happened. He was messing with your head. Reminding you of things you once forgot."
"That's good...right?" He shook his head.
"If you're bombarded with things shouldn't remember yet, there's a high chance you'll lose it and that's the last thing we need...especially at a time like this."
"So, what happened to the alien?"
"I killed it."
"Oh...thanks." Jisung smiled in response before standing up and fixing his clothes, pulling her up not long after so she could do the same.
"We should continue tracking forward before more aliens come." Danica ran a hand through her hair.
"Good idea but which is forward?" Jisung scanned his surroundings before facepalming.
"Turn around," he instructed to which she hesitantly obeyed. After a while she heard odd sounds coming from the boy, so she decided to peek at him only to see an alien in his place, sniffing around the area. Dan tried to look away but couldn't finding it amusing how he looked so much younger than all the aliens she had seen before.
"Hey!" he yelled, realising she had been watching him.
"What?" she asked.
"Didn't I tell you to turn around?"
"I know you did but I couldn't help myself and besides, you look adorable," she explained, rushing towards him as he pouted. "Oh my gosh, you're literally the cutest thing ever!" She squished his face between her palms and squealed once again. Jisung rolled his eyes at her before shifting back to his human form.
"Am I still cute now?" He asked in a teasing manner. Danica detached her hands from his face and looked at him.
"You're a different kind of cute," she stated, making him blush. "Why did you shift into your alien form anyway?" She asked.
"To check which way we just came from. This way," he pointed to her right, "is forward."
"Wait, can aliens sniff down where humans have been?"
"No...unless if you leave your own blood there. Aliens sniff down blood...any blood so I was sniffing down the blood of that alien."
"They can? Wouldn't that mean some could be making their way here right now?"
"Yep. We might want to hurry, by the way." With that, he grabbed her wrist and hurried in the direction he had claimed was forward.

After walking for what felt like a couple hours, they began to hear sounds coming from behind them. Jisung paused, making Danica do the same. The sound of footsteps could be heard from a distance, making Dan's eyes widen.
"Get in a tree," the hybrid whispered to her, pushing her towards the closest tree. She obeyed his order and after making sure she was well hidden, Jisung also got in one adjacent to hers.
They waited about five minutes until the footsteps were close. Jisung couldn't see the figures properly so he leaned closer, squinting his eyes but right as they came in sight, something else caught his eye. Danica was climbing out of the tree.
Instantly, he grabbed his gun out of his pocket, scrambling down the tree until his foot came in contact with the ground. Turning to the two figures swiftly, he pointed his gun at them, catching both the figures and Jisung aback.
"Chris? Changbin?" Jisung asked, rushing to them before pulling them both into a hug. "Oh my gosh, I know it's only been a few hours, but I actually really missed you guys. I was worried some alien would play tricks on you."
"Same here," Changbin responded in a gloomy manner, avoiding Dan and Jisung's gaze as he pushed passed them.
"What's that about?" Danny asked Chris, who simply shook his head.
"Let him have time to himself," he told them, placing his sweater-paws into his hoodie pocket.
"But what happened though?"
"I think he'd prefer you not knowing and besides, we don't have time for this. Don't we have to see Jisung's aunt before sunset?"
"I mean, we don't need to see her before sunset, we just need to see her before going to the main U-"
"I would like to see her before sunset so let's continue going. How big is this forest anyway?"
"Not that big," Changbin finally answered. "Just about another couple hour's walk and we'll be out of it."
"Good. Let's go," Chris sternly as he began walking, not waiting for anyone.
"What's up with you? Both of you?" Danica asked, running to catch up to them. "Something happened to the two of you while you were in this forest, am I right?" They ignored her. The girl took it as a 'yes'. "I knew it...can you at least tell us? We can try to help."
"There's nothing you can do to help, Dan," Changbin answered, still tracking forward.
"How sure are you? At least I can try!"
"JUST STOP, WILL YOU?!" Chris yelled, turning to face her. "STOP ACTING AS THOUGH YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT WHEN YOU HAVE NO IDEA." He sighed. "Stop you know it all because you don't! How many times do I have to tell you that there are some things that are not meant to be fixed?! That there are things that are impossible to change? When will you stop living in your imagination for once, Dan. Face the facts. You aren't a superhero! You're just a small girl with big dreams!" Danica bit her bottom lip to fight of the tears that were begging to escape her eyes.
"My mother always told me to at least try," she replied.
"And how did that turn out for her?!" Chris snapped, instantly regretting it. That was the last straw for Dan. Tears streamed out of her eyes as she took a couple of steps back, shaking her head at the Aussie who was walking towards her. "Danica-"
"LEAVE ME ALONE! I HATE YOU!" She yelled the to of her lungs as she ran towards Jisung, immediately hugging him as she cried on his chest.
"Please, Danny, let me explain."
"I don't care anymore, Chris! You know, maybe you're right. Maybe there are some things that cannot be changed or fixed. Maybe I should just stop trying," she pushed away from Jisung to glare at Chris. "All this time I wanted to find a cure to Carsania to save you. That's why I didn't mind risking my life. But now I know some people aren't worth saving. You know what, I wish you catch the disease and die. Leave my life! At least then I'll be able to live in peace." Chris sighed, taking a few steps away from the girl. He kept his gaze on the ground, not wanting to look at her or let alone anyone as he uttered two words before running off.
"Wish granted."
