Day Three (2)

Danica's expression dropped upon arrival at the forest only to see both Changbin and Chris out of sight.

"Oh no," she released a sigh, looking at Jisung, who let out a curse under his breath. "What do we do now?" She asked to which he simply shrugged.

"Go after them?"

"Did you see which way they went?"

"Well, no, but if we just continue walking through the forest until we get to the other side, I bet we'll find them. The life-zone may be big but it's easy to spot people when in it."

"What if other aliens catch them?"

"They are safe. The only aliens who live in this side of the life-zone are the elders' ancestors."

"And they don't crave blood?"

"Well...they do, but they have a much better tolerance towards it and besides, a lot of them grew up feeding on animal blood and find human blood too sour."

"If your aunt is an alien elder ancestor, doesn't that make your mother one too?"

"Yeah? Your point is?"

"That would make you an ancestor too, wouldn't it?"

"Yes..."

"Then you find human blood sour too, right?"

"No, not exactly."

"How does that work then?"

"Since I wasn't brought up feeding on blood, I crave both of them just have a better tolerance due to my human side." Danica furrowed her eyebrows before letting out a chuckle.

"I have a lot to learn about aliens, don't I?" He smiled, laughing through his nose.

"Trust me, everything I've told you so far doesn't even come close to half of the alien knowledge you need to know before entering the main UFO."

"I mean, lucky for you, I have had experience with a full alien who told me a bit about her kind." Jisung crossed his arms over his chest and raised an eyebrow.

"You mention this alien a lot," he stated.

"She was a second mother to me."

"What did you say her name was again?"

"Well, she had an alien name, but I tend to forget it often. It's one of those names you recognise when someone else says it so, I always just referred to her as Ariana since it sounded close to her name."

"How old were you when you first met her?"

"Six."

"How do you remember her so well then?"

"It's one of those things I didn't want to allow myself to forget. I constantly reminded myself about the letter she left me and whenever I doubted the events she warned me about out I would just remember the night I helped her then I'd clutch the necklace."

"A letter?"

"She left me a letter when she left explaining everything she had meant to tell me before she ran out of time. She put the necklace along with the letter but never explained what I was to do with it...maybe she wanted me to find out myself...I'll never know for sure why she didn't explain then, but I guess it could be for the best."

"Maybe you were too young to understand then?"

"Possibly...but it wouldn't have hurt to have at least have a clue on what the eff is going on right now."

"You're stressing yourself out too much, Danica. When it's time, you'll understand everything. Patience is the key." Dan stopped walking, suddenly, staring at the ground as her eyebrows furrowed. Her heart began to race as memories she had forgotten began to flood her mind.

"I've heard that statement before..." she finally spoke, confusing Jisung further. "I brushed it off thinking it was nothing...She did everything you just did from the pauses to the words and tone exactly. It's a memory I had forgotten for years..." She eventually looked back up at Jisung with pure terror in her eyes. "Ariana warned me without me even knowing. She had been dropping hints ever since the day we met."

"About the necklace?"

"No," Danny shook her head, frantically as she began to gasp for air. Just thinking about it made it seem as though oxygen had run short despite being crowded by trees. "This whole journey...she told me everything that happened...everything that is to happen..."

"She did?" Jisung asked confused. "Did it end in a happy ending? Did we save the alien world?"

"I...I..." her vision spun and everything slowly began to disappear, slowly. "J-Jisung!" She screamed in fear. What was happening?

"Dan? Are you okay?" His voice echoed in her head but there was one problem...when she turned in the direction he had been, he wasn't there. He was gone. Instead, all she could see was a figure in the distance staring at her. In fact, it was approaching her. She took a couple of wobbly steps back until her back came in contact with the trunk of a tree. The figure was still walking towards her but before she could make out who it was...what is was, everything became black.

Flashback (Danica's POV)

"Ariana?" I called, closing the front door behind me. Upon placing my schoolbag on the ground and hanging my coat on the coat hanger, I let out a sigh. Is she playing hide-and-seek again?

"Ariana?" I yelled as I made my way to our shared bedroom.

The alien was sat on the bed, staring at the ceiling as tears threatened to escape her eyes. I furrowed my eyebrows as I approached her and snapped my fingers in front of her face. She immediately blinked as she took in her surroundings, eyes landing on me, who was roaring with laughter, snorting every now then.

"Miles away?" I asked, cheekily. Ariana crossed her arms over her chest as she pouted at me.

"How dare you laugh at me? This is not how I taught you to treat people," she whined, trying to push away the urge to laugh along.

"Sorry, Ariana, I just couldn't help myself! And besides, it's my ninth birthday, I have the right to laugh and be mean to you...just until the end of the day." The alien huffed in disbelief.

"Honestly, you get cheekier by the day, Dan. I wonder how you'll be when you're twenty!"

"Probably in prison for saying the wrong thing to the wrong person." Finally, Ariana's act broke and she burst out laughing, pulling me into a hug.

"Oh, Danica, what must I do with you?" I smiled at her before realising a tear had actually escaped her eye. I outstretched my arm and wiped it with my thumb.

"What were you thinking about, anyway?"

"You know how I love music?"

"Yeah?"

"I think I finally thought up a new song."

"Really?" My face lit up as I pulled away from the hug and made myself comfortable on the bed. "Sing it for me." Ariana exhaled a deep breath, closing her eyes.

"Don't you worry, little girl, I know you wish to stay strong for them all

Don't you worry, little girl, I know you want to prove yourself to the world.

I know it's hard, to believe, but I know that you'll succeed.

I know you feel, buried deep, but just call when you're in need.

Because, everyone has those day

When you wish the pain will just go away

Keep your head up and stay strong

I'll be with you through the journey far and long.

Just look to the sky when you want to give up

Look to the sky when you feel like life is tough.

Remember that I am always here

Through the pain of losing one so loved.

I'll take care of you."
