Day Four (4)

^^^RIP Kim Jonghyun^^^

"If you guys are going to the main UFO tomorrow, I must give you some of my weapons," Aarialla mentioned as she headed to her bookshelf, pressing the switch beside it, making it flip around, revealing a board with weapons and armour attached to it.

"Cool," Changbin uttered as he glanced at the objects on the board in utter awe.

"I have two guns over here, a grappling hook, an emergency first-aid kit, four daggers, ten light-bombs, five destructive-bombs and armour," she stated before turning to them. "To access this part of the bookshelf, just press this button. To revert it to a normal bookshelf, press the button again. I would advise you to only take these when you are about to leave."

"What if we don't know how to use some of the objects? I've never used a grappling hook and haven't an idea how to do so," Danny asked.

"Honestly, I highly doubt you would need the grappling hook or the destructive-bombs. They were just there in case of other incidences." She pressed the button which flipped the board, leaving the bookcase in it's rightful place before heading to her bedroom returning with an A1 paper. "Here's the map of the life-zone," she explained, placing the paper down and pinning the corners onto her dining table as she gestured to join her there. "We are over here, she pointed to the north-east side of the map. "And the main UFO is right in the centre of the life-zone. There are four entrances to the UFO: one facing north, one facing east, another facing south and the last one facing west. Many aliens guard these entrances, so I would suggest going through a tunnel. There are six tunnels in total. Other elder ancestors made these so the keeper of the gem has easy access to the main UFO. The closest one is over here. It is five kilometres long but it leads to the room just passed the entrance. There is a map in this room. There are only maps near the entrances of the UFO so make sure you study it well. Every separate hour, an alien patrol is run where a whole group of aliens will patrol the UFO. At those times, Changbin and Danica, you must find cover. Jisung, you can patrol with them in your alien form. You must get to the centre of the UFO, where the stand is, before the Emperor arrived there for he will give you a hard time placing the gem."

"Why? Doesn't he want his planet back?" Dan asked.

"He wants to rule the universe, remember that greed I told you about? If you place the gem down, it will immediately work, and no one would be able to remove it. It will be consumed and no longer exist and that's the last thing he wants."

"Oh...anyway, continue."

"Remember, Danica, you have to place it down properly and no one else can do it. It has to be you." She nodded as she released a sigh.

"I'm ready," Dan told them. "I'll just get some violets and I'll be back."

"It's getting late, I'll come with you," Jisung offered.

"Me too," Changbin smiled, standing up and following the duo to violet field.

"You really like violets, don't you?" Jisung teased, nudging her shoulder playfully.

"No, I just like seeming your priceless reaction to it," she replied with a smirk.

"Ha ha, very funny, Danica," he replied sarcastically. "After saving the world, you should become a comedian."

"You know, I was actually considering it. Just imagine it, Jisung. Both of us together, performing, making the audience laugh their heads off. And then comes the final act, we are standing only a metre away from each other, both staring intensely into each other's eyes. The audience are silent, the stage lights focused on us as I slowly, bring my hand to your face to reveal a bouquet of violets. You scream like a girl, searching for cover. It would be magically, don't you think?"

"Shut it, Dan."

"Wow," Changbin uttered, staring at them both. "You two act like a couple. Just get married already."

"I was considering that too. Just imagine it. Both of us together-"

"We've arrived!" Jisung cutting her off as he pointed to the purple layer at the horizon.

"Seriously, Jisung? We've barely arrived," Changbin shook his head, continuing to walk.

"This is close enough, isn't it?"

"Oh come on, stop being such a coward!"

"I'm not a coward!"

"That's what all the cowards say, coward," Danny added, trying herbest not to laugh. "Man up!"

"Seriously, Dan?"

"What is the coward scared?"

"I AM NOT A COWARD!" He yelled, sprinting to the violet field with Changbin and Danica running behind him, roaring with laughter.

"Seems you aren't a coward after all," Dan teased, grabbing as many violets as she could, advising Changbin to do the same.

"I hate you all."

"Yeah, right. Your heart says otherwise."

"Danica, I swear I will throw you off a cliff."

"Do it, or are you just a cowar-" She cut off when a scream emitted from the direction of the cottage. The trio exchanged glances before sprinting to the cottage in hope nothing was wrong. But Dan knew better than that, there was a pit in her stomach as her heart beat accelerated over normal speed. She was hoping she was just overthinking but then she felt the warmth of the gem against her chest. It was telling her something. Something she needed to know but didn't want to.

She arrived at the cottage first. Hesitating at the door, not wanting to enter the already open door. But then a shout broke through her worry.

"I WILL ASK YOU ONE LAST TIME, AARIALLA! WHERE IS THE GIRL!" The masculine voice sent her trembling know who actually the girl he referred to was. She wasn't safe.

Her heart pounded against her chest as she attempted to steady her breath, failing miserably.

"Leave her alone, Luaarlin," Aarialla breathed out through heavy pants. Her voice so weak yet tone still stern. The shattering of glass was the next thing Dan heard, the sound causing her to flinch.

"I'M NOT PLAYING ANY OF YOUR STUPID GAMES! NOW TELL ME WHERE SHE IS!" His voice frightened the girl but somehow, she found the courage to stumble towards the living room, just to look through the door.

The sight was sickening, terrifying as the Emperor held a shattered piece of glass as Aarialla's neck. The alien was already covered with blood. The dark green staining her once-white dress. A deep cut ran down her cheek, blood poured out of her nose and her left eye partially closed due to the bruise forming around it. Her chest repeatedly moving up and down as she gasped for air.

The whole living room was a mess with loveseats flipped upside-down, the glass coffee table and window smashed into pieces. Pillows and mattresses were torn open, but all Danica could notice was her bag in his slender hands as he shoved it in Aarialla's face.

"I will never tell you," she uttered as her gaze moved to meet Danica's. She gulped, knowing her fate but Dan shook her head frantically as tears rolled down her pale cheeks.

"Suit yourself," he replied, darkly as he slit her neck in one swift move.

"NO!" Danny yelled, outrage devouring her. The Emperor turned his gaze to her, chuckling evilly as he approached her while fiddling with the piece of glass in his hand, Aarialla's blood dripping off it.

"Look who came to join the party," he whispered with a husky voice. Dan's gaze rapidly averted from the Emperor to Jisung's aunt repeatedly, not knowing what to do.

"Danica," Aarialla coughed out as her blood cover her chin, dress and furniture. Dan glanced at her, panting heavily. "Run," was the last thing she said before the teenage girl was pinned to the wall by the Emperor.

"Leave me alone," Danica cried, pleading for her life as she glimpsed down at the gem that was glowing brighter than before, than ever. She thought back to the conversation she had with Aarialla earlier on that morning when she said she will die only if it was the gem's wish. She wanted to be fearless but the gem was still trying to speak to her. Averting her gaze back to Aarialla, she noticed the sun setting in the distance. Exhaling a desperate breath from her failing lungs, she finally found out what the gem was telling her and hated every second of it as more tears escaped her eyes.

She thought back to the morning when the rising sun alarmed her. She had a heavy burden the whole day because of it but she had managed to convince herself it was just part of a routine.

However, now she realised the truth as the Emperor's icy breath hit her face. The gem had been speaking to her every morning telling her she was running out of time. She got comfortable and didn't listen to it. The sharp corner of the glass piece, piercing through her skin where her stomach was. Danica released a strong grunt as she fought back her tears. She felt a thick liquid enter her system, knowing it was Aarialla's blood. The substance in charge of turning people into aliens seeping into her arteries.

Dan screamed as the Emperor pulled the glass out, releasing her as she fell to the ground. The gem spoke to her one last time as she stared out at the horizon, the last traces of the sun, disappearing. She had run out of time.
