Day Four (1)
Shooting upright on the couch, panting heavily, Danica recalled the dream she had just had. Sweat rolled down her face as she rubbed her eyes with her hands. After steadying her breath, she gazed at the clock which showed several minutes passed three o'clock. She resumed to glance around the room, pausing when she saw an alien sat at the window sill, sipping on tea as she stared back at her.
"Danica," she spoke softly. "We need to talk." The teenage girl exhaled as she stood up and approached the alien.
"About?" Jisung's aunt smiled before shifting on the window sill, making space for Dan to sit.
"Everything, including that," she pointed to the gem that was lying on her chest as it glowed a bright emerald shade of green.
"What the heck," Danny mumbled under her breath.
"It's normal," the alien simply told her. "It means you were dreaming of something related to it." The girl blinked at the gem.
"I guess I was..."
"A couple of days ago an alien dressed in white met you late at night. She went by the name of Aarialla, sister of Aarivana. She had given you a potion which took you to a hallway with an open door at the end that seemed to lead to utter darkness, correct?" Danica stared at her for a moment, completely dumbfounded before nodding slowly.
"H-how...how did you know?"
"Because, Danica, I am her." The teenage girl's eyes widened.
"But...but...y-you are Jisung's aunt...does..." Dan thought for a second. "No, it can't be...Jisung can't be-"
"Aarivana's son," the alien finished her sentence. "But he is, Danica. That's why she went to you...why she knew your name...and why she gave you the necklace. You were both destined to find each other."
"But how did she know? Is she psychic or something?" Aarialla chuckled, shaking her head.
"She was in charge of the gem long before you, Danica, and the gem has many powers. It's the reason behind all the flashbacks and dreams you've had of her and why you always encountered the Emperor. It's the reason you would always be aware of a trap and why you and Jisung just so happened to be in the same place at the same time. But, darling, it's been helping you longer than just this journey. Your mother was a nurse, attending all of the patients with Carsania with you by her side until she eventually caught the disease. Ever wondered why you didn't catch it as well? Or how you had a hunch that there was something wrong with the vaccine everyone at your camp was getting? All of it was the gem. The gem that kept you safe all these years used to help Aarivana. It was the reason she hadn't died from the gunshot immediately. It used to give her vision of the day aliens invaded Earth. It gave her visions of you hence why she knew your name and where you lived. The gem planned everything beforehand. It's much bigger than you, than anyone or anything that ever lived. That's why when the time comes, the bearer has to pass it on. Passing it on meant Aarivana losing her protection and that's why she died." Danny stared at the ground, trying to process everything.
"So, as long as I have this gem, I don't die?"
"Unless if it's the gem's wish for you to."
"Why me though? Wouldn't the gem want an alien to be it's keeper?"
"There's something you have that no alien has."
"What?"
"Commitment. Despite everything that people have said and everything that happened to you, you are still determined to go ahead with it. Many aliens would have given up long before."
"What happens to me when I give the gem up?"
"You mean when you place it in its rightful place?"
"Yeah, that."
"Everything goes back to normal."
"And what is normal?"
"That's for you to find out, darling."
"Fine, but where is the gem's rightful place?"
"I thought you'd remember that from the vision I gave you." Danica though for a second.
"The stand?"
"Yep...it's very important you place it down properly otherwise it won't work."
"But where is the stand?"
"In the centre of the main UFO." With a sigh, she nodded, understanding her quest and ready to fulfil it.
"So when will I go to the main UFO?"
"When you feel you're ready, dear."
"I suggest we rest a day before going. It might relieve us from everything that happened on our journey here," Jisung's raspy voice startled them as he stretched.
"How much did you hear?" His aunt asked, worry plastered over her face.
"All of it. Dan had kicked me on her way there."
"And you stayed quiet?"
"Well yeah, I was interested...why didn't you tell me the power of the gem?"
"You were too young then, Jisung. You must understand the danger such information would have on you and besides, the gem's power can turn those without it greedy. Why do you think the Emperor decided to come to Earth or why he's after her? He wants the gem for himself. And if his greed and the gem's power come together the whole milky way, no, whole universe, is in massive danger."
"Then how come I'm not feeling greedy now?" The alien smiled, no, smirked at the boy, cocking an eyebrow.
"Because she's special to you, Jisung." He immediately blushed hard, covering his face as Dan smiled smugly upon knowing she was his weakness.
"Aunt!" he scolded.
"What? I know it's not a lie." He sighed.
"Is it that obvious?" She released a laugh through her nose.
"No, I just know it. In fact, I even know what you guys have done and what you are yet to do."
"What?!" they shrieked in unison, waking Changbin up.
"How?" Dan questioned.
"I once was the keeper of the gem. Why else do you think I know all this?"
