Chapter XXIX.

The Dawn

The dawn is breaking yet the first rays of the light are bringing new darkness to the world. Silent echoes of footsteps could be heard from the forest. The darkness was coming on its toes yet the sounds of crying trees and disturbed birds were warning the world on what was about to come.

A green glow came from the forest, appearing in the field surrounded by a giant cloud of darkness. Clouds slowly covered the sun creating grayish atmosphere despite the sky being clear and blue everywhere else on the sky.

The Fallen Angel stood in the air, his dark wings flapping slowly around him. He looked glorious yet his gaze was striking fear into anything it touched. His demoness was flying around him, bloodlust in her eyes. Orbs were alreadys glowing around her, waiting to bring their mistress the power of newly spilled blood.

The two that haven't seen the light for years because they were hiding underground now proudly flew out of their forest which was both their safe zone and their prison.

"Oh, Alice. Fire is burning inside me and that fire shall be the last judgment for those who didn't have the strength to kill me at first, but they should've known: power means eternity! And this is the moment, my dear, we fight. It's waiting for us mortality or death."

He spoke coldly observing his enemy who was already standing and waiting in the fighting position. The warrior angel was in her full form, golden wings on her back and a long axe-like weapon. Her surroundings were glowing in golden light while she was watching the evil approach taking shape of endless darkness.

"Here we meet again, Argus. And this battle, it isn't going to be my last." She muttered, standing quite a bit in the front of everybody else.

On the other side of the battlefield, the good was having its first and last stand, everybody fighting with their fears and their weaknesses, well everybody except the three that were just saved from the crippling grip of evil.

Hayabusa had his sword drawn while just next to him, there was the young girl who is the only reason this ninja got involved in the battle. His flower he watched after for years was now standing by him, her umbrella in hand. She was watching the fallen angel approach with the break of the dawn.

"This is it, isn't it? The final line, huh? If we fail, the land will fall in his arms... And I am supposed to stop him..." She spoke slowly. "I don't know how though..."

The ninja simply placed a hand on her shoulder. "You will know when the time comes." He said. "That's the greatest secret I've learnt throughout my life. Do not chase what people expect you to be or do. Just wait. You'll see what destiny has in plans for you." He smiled slightly before turning towards the enemy again.

A cold gust of wind blew over the fields, brushing Kagura's hair. It was a nice cooling sensation from the overwhelming senses and worries. It was too late to give up now, it is live or die. Lives of these few different people were all that's standing as a shield from massive destruction.

"I will let my weapon guide my moves just like I guide its. I don't yet know how but I will strike him with everything I have." The girl mumbled silently.

Just few yards away from the two lovers, Zilong and Hylos were standing side by side, watching the valkyrie in front of them.

"This is my battle now. I will kill you this time, I see I've made a mistake by keeping you alive." Freya now whispered into the air, slowly walking forwards, about to meet up with her enemy.

"Alice, you, Karina and Lancelot take out the children who try to stand in my way. Freya and I have some unfinished business." Argus said finally also stepping forwards, meeting his opponent in the middle of the field.

"This battle has already happened before, Argus! Stop this. You can still retrea--" Freya started but was met with a strong blow from the Fallen Angel's blade.

"Less speaking or my sword will hear your last words." He shouted, slashing several times at her at a very fast rate while clenching of armours and weapons could be heard in the background along with the sound of powerful spells being cast.

The girl was blown away by the series of strikes but her armour did well protecting her. She frowned. "I see..." She said sadly before jumping towards him, landing a strong punch to him yet he didn't appear to even be damaged by the blow. Something is wrong and she could smell it.

"There is something you should've known before stepping out bravely to face me. I wouldn't come here without a trick up my sleeve." He said with a grin, deflecting next blow the girl tried to land on him.

"I do not care, as long as this will keep my men safe. Gods witness what happened here! I answer the call of destiny. As it says, it shall be!" She exclaimed while successfully landing a series of three strikes but those strikes did nothing, she saw them dig into both his armour and his flesh yet they just came out of the wounds as if his body was no more than air.

While she was trying to understand what is happening, the man took his chance and grabbed her with a chain that had a claw on the end of it, pulling himself closer and stinging her with the sword, piercing her stomach with ease.

"Justice is the last refuge of weakness. You spared my life last time, so will I now. But you will suffer what I suffered through too, that and even more." He said, gripping her firmly before pulling his blade out of her.

The green fire started burning from inside of her as she fell to the ground. "Nothing is worthy without power, not even you." He said, stepping over her and slowly making his way towards Kagura.

Karina and Alice were fighting side by side, like real mother and daughter although the blood flowing in their veins was different.

The assassin and a powerful mage met two worthy opponents. While Hayabusa's blade clashed with the glowing one used by the blue haired lady, Alice was dodging Kagura's umbrella teleporting around using her shiny, magic infused orbs.

Then suddenly, the fight turned around, the white haired pale demoness shot a blood orb towards Hayabusa and Karina disappeared out of its way just before it hit the poor boy. As soon as he was hit, the blood mage teleported to him and summoned a whirlpool of blood immobilizing him and sucking the energy and life out of her victim.

Kagura was struggling against the assassin that now moved onto her as her new target but jer umbrella showed its power, protecting the girl and allowing her to retreat when Karina got too close, while also pushing her around while she was in distance.

The blue haired assassin was showing signs of weakness.

Hayabusa, in other hand, winced in pain, being forced to the ground by his opponent. He tried to forget the pain and fight back but once he was completely outpowered, he just sent his thought to his beloved girl. If this would be his last thought, may it at least be the thought about the one he loves.

How they played together whole days. How they trained until they would both collapse. How they laughed together, not caring about the rest of the world. About everything he told her and promised her before all of this chaos happened.

"... I would do anything to impress you."

"I will never let you go again."

"I want to stay by your side not matter how much it costed."

"I love you, Kagura." He whispered while his consciousness was being sucked away, the darkness slowly turning him into nothing but a shadow. The shadow turning into mist... and that mist escaping Alice's grip and turning against her.

The boy landed series of quick strikes on the girl. He was in pain yet ignored it, willing to do anything to beat this girl.

It all ended in a huge cloud of dust and smoke that Hylos rose summoning a powerful wind until he was knocked down with one swing of Argus' blade.

Both sides fell in numbers. Hayabusa and Alice were both lying on the ground motionlessly.

Natalia and Lancelot, the brother and sister were both gone in a blink of eye as soon as they met up. They weren't loyal enough to either of the sides to fight against each other.

Zilong was knocked down while he was trying to reach Freya's burning body but he wasn't even interested in the combat in the first place. All he cared about was his mistress and love who he failed to protect.

The great Fallen Angel now stood above the body of his lover, kneeling down just to see dozens of small cuts all over her body. He then rose his gaze, angrily. "He who did this to my Alice shall perish by my sword." He spoke, walking towards Hayabusa.

Kagura, despite being busy fighting back her own opponent, couldn't let Argus even touch the boy. She sent her umbrella to Argus, pushing him away before teleporting to it, picking it up and summoning a big flower which grew out of nowhere and bloomed, its bloom pushing Argus away.

Despite him being able to fill this attack, he just laughed. "You foolish girl. Charging in up to me, leaving such a lovely lady alone, like my step daughter, is really impolite. Bad choice, my dear."

He said throwing his clawed chain at her but instead of hitting her, all he hit was her umbrella which deflected the strike. She then quickly threw her umbrella backwards, finishing off the blue haired girl.

"I am not afraid. Actually, the fact you need another assassin to help you beat me is sad."

The man now frowned, although the frown couldn't be seen under his helmet. "Please, do you really think I need her help? I guess I am just going to prove you wrong." He said, his blade dying to taste this little girl's blood. "And if you think I am afraid of that little prophecy of yours, just so you know, I am not."

"Oh, worry not. I know your little trick." She said with a innocent child-like smile.

Yet a child will rise with power of both darkness and the light...

She shot him with her umbrella and created a link between it and the Fallen Angel which strongly pulling him towards the umbrella. He resisted, fought back but his energy and power were being sucked away.

"You got the power from the book but that power can also be taken away from you." She said watching him struggle. "I can and I will. I feel it is the call of my destiny."

The umbrella then sucked away enough of his strength to pull him to it and throw him on the ground while the yin and yang mage approached him, making the umbrella punch him in the face, kicking away the helmet.

"I am not a bloodlusty one and I really despise killing though..." The girl spoke watching the innocent looking face of this male whose eyes were closed due to lack of energy. Who knows what is going through his mind at this point, maybe he's having a hint of hope that she would spare his life, then again, maybe he just wanted her to end it. Maybe he was thinking about Alice and maybe he was just wondering how could such a small girl wield power so strong.

Will end the fight and break the Dawn of the Dark.

"But..." Kagura started again. "I do learn from other people's mistakes. I am truly sorry this has to go this way..."

Argus just took a deep breath, shutting his eyes firmly. Not even immunity to physical touches or any other natural causes was enough when this girl came and took his life away with one more powerful cut of her umbrella.

It was over.

Everything was over from that point on.

The girl slowly stood up and looked into the sun.

The sky was silver like blades of the finest swords and the light was still somehow sad. It is going to rain.

The small water drops slowly started falling over the battlefield. Everybody was down, some wounded badly, some just knocked unconscious while some souls lost forever. Kagura took her umbrella and covered herself from the rain.

She just listened to the soft tapping of water on the ground. There was so much work to do, they had to repair whole land, to set the rightful rulers on their positions again yet it felt so nice to take a break and to look at the sky.

Despite the victory, it was gray. Gray as if it was expecting the victory of evil. Gray like the tombstones set up for the two fallen in the recent events without who the future might not be as bright as it is.

***

Several days later whole land has gathered up to show respect to the Valkyrie who has given her life for the greater cause and the previous king of elves who has sacrificed his life for life of his child. Both were great people who will be eternally alive in the hearts of the nation and their names sealed in books of history.

But they didn't come only for this sad part, they also came to show the heros who have returned the gratitude they deserve.

"Thank you, everybody, for coming." The Minister of War spoke in front of the gathered crowd. "I must say these were tough several weeks but in the end, we've all come out wiser and stronger. Some have fallen but we have to make sure their deaths don't go to waste. We need to rebuild everything lost and above all, we need to get the rulers back to their thrones."

Two ladies stood next to him dressed in royal clothes, looking like two young queens but they were both lacking a crown. Odette was standing on the right, in front of the banner featuring the symbol of kingdom of light, having a beautiful golden ring on her finger, while on the other side, Miya stood in front of the banner of her kingdom.

Hylos now picked up a silver crown with several dark blue gems.

"In the name of elves of the moon, I got the right to crown you, Princess Miya as the new queen of the Kingdom of the Dark." He started and set the crown on her head which was followed by wild clapping of the gathered crowd which filled the whole square except the stage where the most important people stood.

Miya gazed down in the crowd and smiled seeing Alucard in the first row below the stage. He was the last one to stop cheering amongst whole crowd before the ceremony continued.

"In the name of the previous rulers of this land and the name of parliament..." The centaur started, slowly taking a beautiful crown decorated by jewels. "I crown you, Princess Odette as the new queen of this land." He said placing the crown on her head, a golden engagement ring on his ring finger clearly visible. It was the same like the one the newborn queen was having on her finger.

"May our two new queens rule rightfully and with honor, just like they fought in the past few weeks."

***

And far away from the place, hidden from the sights, there were the two biggest heroes of this battle, not caring for the glory or gratitude people wanted to show them. Kagura and Hayabusa, who was still recovering from the fight, just enjoyed the privacy of the garden which was surrounding their home, exchanging a passionate kiss under the same cherry tree where they used to be playing as kids.

The End
