Dawn
Amaya awoke in the dreary cavern, bathed in soft moonlight. She peered around the cave, taking note of those around her. With ease, she lifted herself up, treading quietly to the other cavernous chamber. The woman glanced around the cave before slowly making an exit.
Now embraced by the cool winds of night, Amaya ventured to the pinnacle to reflect. She sighed, kneeling at the edge. It only took a day for everything to change for the better. She made friends in unlikely circumstances, and she stood with her family once more.
Amaya relinquished the thought of what could have been, settling instead for the beautiful now. She leaned on her back, splaying her limbs out to stare at the vast sky above.
Stars gittered endlessly above Amaya, filling the lonely void in her heart. Her sister would have loved to be at her side, fighting for Prince Azymondias. Amaya settled on the fact that the past can never change, easing herself back into her true reality.
Soft vibrations tingled Amaya's skin, jolting her into awareness. She rotated to identify whoever approached her.
Janai gazed sheepishly at Amaya from the apposite side of the pinnacle. Amaya signaled for the elf to join her.
"You were quiet leaving, but I knew it was you." Janai expressed.
Amaya picked up on her words, but communication was difficult. Amaya signed slowly to reply, "What are you doing up? Aren't you strongest when the sun is out?"
Janai sighed before standing. Amaya cocked her head, but Janai told her to wait. The elf returned moments later with a field journal and a stick of charcoal.
Amaya smiled, taking the book to write. When Janai nodded, Amaya felt the bridge of communication enstill itself.
Janai wrote back. 'I am thinking. Everything is different now.'
Amaya threaded her hair back with her hands before deciding on a response. 'I came up here to think too. So much has happened, but I can't tell if I'm excited or nervous for what's to come.'
Janai read Amaya's words and found the right words to reply with. 'Peace is going to be as hard as war. Not all humans and elves trust each other.'
Amaya closed her eyes, exhaling slowly. 'Do you trust me?'
Janai nodded, "You are pure of heart." She stated aloud.
Amaya shook her head, writing, 'are you so sure?'
Janai laughed, face tinged with red. "Now that you mention it."
The pair laughed, reclining backwards to face the dimming stars. Janai took a short breath, nervously signing to Amaya. "The sun is rising."
Amaya signed something back, but Janai couldn't understand the meaning. Amaya smiled mischievously, knowing Janai would not be able to interpret her comment.
Janai huffed. "If only I could sign to you, maybe we would understand each other better?"
Amaya turned on her side to face the elven knight, frowning. "I feel as if I do understand you, not fully, but your emotions are so vivid."
Janai let her eyelids slip into being closed. She glanced to her side, finding Amaya close by her. Despite herself, Janai smiled at the human's exhausted beauty.
"You need to sleep. You look as if you'll pass out." Janai stated, grabbing Amaya's attention.
Amaya only smirked and rolled her eyes, "You look just as tired."
"Fine, we'll both sleep, but I'm worried about you." Janai confessed.
Amaya smirked, "so you'll sleep with me?"
Janai cringed at the woman's forwardness and bold humor. "I will not 'sleep with you', but I can offer myself as a great napping partner." Janai jeered before lightly punching the General.
"I'm sure." Amaya smiled softly, cupping the elf's cheek.
Janai's eyes fell to Amaya's lips, glancing back up to her eyes to ask permission. Amaya didn't need to confirm, as she had already begun leaning in.
Amaya felt her worries vanish as her lips met Janai's. Her free hand searched for Janai's, grasping it gently. The sun slowly showered their skin with golden hughes, emphasizing the warmth of their faces.
Amaya pulled away first, dopily grinning at the beautiful elf before her. "How about that nap?"
Janai rolled her eyes, but stood with Amaya to join her in the cavern for well-needed rest. They joined hands, leaving the pinnacle for the time being. Amaya would worry later, she only cared of the early morning nap with Janai.
. . .
Super rushed, sorry. Just been craving Jamaya/Janaya content, so I made my own.
