Chapter 5

As my time in Forks continued, I managed to land a job at one of the two auto body shops in town. Luckily the people there were pretty chill. It was only a part time gig because they couldn't afford to hire me full time but some work was better than no work.

I also spent plenty of time talking to and getting to know Paul. He seemed amazing, but he was always busy. He'd text me super early in the morning and say he had work but he'd text me when he was done. His quitting time changed every day, with him finishing up at 3:00 pm some days and 10:00 pm others. I didn't mind though because he always let me know that he was at work. I appreciated that simple bit of communication more than I think even I realized.

Paul and I hung out a bit when he had the time, usually just watching movies or going for walks together. He'd invited me to one other bonfire that ended up getting rained out. I didn't mind though because he showed up at my place right on time despite the rain. He brought snacks and a dvd copy of The Addams Family.

About a month after I moved in with Olivia and met Paul, he asked me on a real date.

"What are you doing tonight?" Paul asked as I sat down on the couch. Olivia was out having dinner with some friends so I was all alone in the house. I had been getting ready to order a pizza when Paul called.

"The plan was to watch reruns and eat pizza why?"

"Go get dressed. I'll be there in half an hour," he said.

"I am dressed Paul," I said.

"I'm picking you up in half an hour for a date," he said.

"Like a-."

"Like a real date. I want to take you out on a date Davina so go get ready. Times a tickin."

I laughed a little at him. "I'm going Paul."

I went up to my room and started sifting through my closet trying to find clothes for the date. "Where are we going?"

"Can't tell ya. It's a surprise," he said.

"How do I know what to wear then?"

"Nothing too fancy," he said.

"So jeans and a cute top," I said, putting the phone on speaker and changing into the jeans I'd found. I had to look a little harder to find a top I deemed suitable. I pulled the teal colored crop top on and instantly took it right back off.

"What's going on Dee?" Paul asked through the phone, catching me off guard a bit.

"Just didn't like the way that top looked," I said. I grabbed a different top and held it up considering it for a second before putting it back. After about three more tops I found a maroon one I deemed fit.

"Twenty more minutes Dee," Paul said in a bit of a taunt.

"Hey, you could've given me more heads up than half an hour," I said.

"You would've just stressed yourself over it all day," he said. Sometimes I forget how well he knows me.

"I'm going to do my hair I'll see you in twenty minutes," I said. He said goodbye and I hung up, going to finish getting ready. I also texted Olivia to let her know that I was headed out. She was happy for me and told me to have the best time.
