Chapter 7: A Hunter, A Scholar and the Daughters of an Ancient Race
Sypha smiled.
"The story, the Messiah sleeps under Gresit! The man who will save us from Dracula." She said. Meilė gasped in disbelief.
"That's impossible." She said. The man turned his attention to Trevor and the Twins.
"And you three?" The man asked. "Are you three in search of a mythical savior?" The man asked.
"We fell down a hole." Trevor said bluntly. Meilė frowned at him. Trevor shrugged. "What? It's true." He said. Sypha stepped forward.
"Dracula is abroad in the land. He's determined to wipe out all human life wherever he finds it." Sypha said. The man turned his head to her.
"Is that what you believe?" He asked. Ramybė placed her hand on her hip.
"That Dracula's released his horde in Wallachia? That's fact. There's no "belief" involved." She said. Trevor frowned.
"But that's not what you're asking." He said.
"No." The man said.
"You're asking if I believe you're some sleeping messiah who'll save us, and no, I don't." Trevor said. Meilė looked at him. Ramybė stepped forward.
"And neither do I. I do not believe that you are some messiah come to save everyone." She said. Sypha frowned.
"Belmont! Gelbėtojai!" She shouted. Trevor ignored her cry, still staring at the floating man.
"Ramybė and I know what you are." Trevor said. The man smirked slightly. Meilė's eyes widened as she caught a glimpse of fangs.
"And what am I?" The man asked. Meilė narrowed her eyes.
"You're a vampire." She answered for Trevor, even though the question had been directed towards Trevor. The man opened his glowing golden eyes and smiled, exposing his white fangs. Sypha and Ramybė gasped. The Speaker backed up a little and the Gelbėtojai rushed forward, standing in front of her younger sister, ready to defend her. She stared at the vampire.
"So, we have to ask ourselves, have we come down here to wake up the man who'll kill Dracula, or did we come here to wake Dracula?" Ramybė asked. The man looked at Ramybė.
"You call me Dracula." He said. Trevor narrowed his eyes at the vampire.
"We'll call you anything you like if you're gonna show us your teeth." Trevor said. The man floated down towards the floor. He gestured to Sypha.
"She called you Belmont. House of Belmont?" He looked at the twins. "And she called you Gelbėtojai, from the House of Gelbėtojai?" The man asked.
"Trevor Belmont." Trevor answered.
"Ramybė and Meilė Gelbėtojai." Meilė said. The man's gaze drifted over to the younger Gelbėtojai.
"Sisters?" The man asked. Ramybė narrowed her eyes.
"Twins." She said. The man addressed Trevor.
"The Belmonts and the Gelbėtojais fought creatures of the night, did they not? For generations." The man said. Trevor glanced at his best friends then looked back at the man.
"Say what you mean." Trevor said. He walked towards the vampire. The man's golden eyes followed the Belmont's every move.
"The Belmonts killed vampires." The man said. Meilė stepped out from behind her protective older sister, but stayed close. The man's gaze drifted towards the young Gelbėtojai
"We did. Until the good people decided they didn't want us around." She said. The man looked back at Trevor.
"And now Dracula is carrying out an execution order on the human race. Do you care, Belmont?" The man asked. He looked towards the twins. "What about you two? Do the two of you care?" He asked. Meilė nodded.
"Yes. I care. The people were corrupted by the Church. They did not know right from wrong. They were following the orders of a corrupt system." Meilė said. Trevor looked down.
"Honestly, I didn't, no." His gaze drifted to Meilė, his best friend since for as long as he could remember. His reason for living. His light in the darkness. "But now, yes, it's time to stop it." He said. Both Sypha and Meilė smiled at the Belmont.
"Do you think you can?" The man asked.
"What I think," Trevor said, placing his hand on his whip. "I'm going to have to kill you." He said. Meilė's eyes widened.
"Trevor!" She shouted. Sypha stepped forward.
"Belmont, no! He's the one we've been waiting for." She said. Trevor turned to her, walking back again.
"No, he's not. He's a vampire. And he's not been waiting here for hundreds of years, have you?" Trevor asked, standing in front of the vampire. The man glared at Trevor.
"I don't like your tone, Belmont." He said.
"This place is old," Trevor said, completely ignoring what the vampire said. He looked around the room that he and his companions were in. "But it's not been abandoned. It's alive and working. So, go on, vampire, tell her exactly how long you've been waiting down here." Trevor said. The man looked over at Sypha.
"What is the year of your Lord?" He asked.
"1476." Sypha said.
"Perhaps a year, then." The man said. Trevor looked at Sypha and gestured out.
"There. And on top of that," he said, still pacing back and forth. "What kind of messiah creates mechanical death traps to buy himself an uninterrupted nap in a stone coffin?" Trevor asked. Meilė sighed.
"Trevor, I highly doubt that defenses were for us." She said. Trevor looked at her.
"He could have told his defenses that." He said.
"They are machines, nothing more. They were not intended to protect me from you," The man said. He looked towards Meilė and Ramybė.
"I asked the two of you a question, Belmont, Gelbėtojai do you care?" The man asked. His tone rose. Ramybė stood in front of her sister.
"I care about doing my family's work. I care about saving human lives." Ramybė answered. Trevor placed his hand upon his whip again.
"Am I going to have to kill you?" Trevor asked. The man looked at him.
"Do you think you can? If you're really a Belmont and not some runt running around with a family crest, you might be able to," the man tilted his index finger to the side. A word, which had been resting in the coffin as well, began to rattle. Ramybė and Meilė's eyes widened as the sword was flung towards the man. He caught it in his hand. "Let's find out." The man said. Suddenly, the men started a fight.
//I'm just going to skip to the part where Alucard threatens Trevor. I had a whole scene planned out, but I lost it. I apologize.//
Trevor was suddenly struck by the vampire's sword. The force was enough to break Trevor's weapon. He was sent flying across the room and hit the stairs. The vampire was suddenly upon him, gripping Trevor by the hair and pulling his head up. Trevor groaned in pain.
"Do you have a god to put a last prayer to, Belmont?" The vampire asked. Trevor groaned once again and then smirked.
"Yeah. Dear God, please don't let the vampire's guts ruin my good tunic." Trevor said. The vampire frowned in confusion.
"What?" He suddenly groaned in pain. While the vampire was distracted, Trevor had managed to grab a stake and dug it into the vampire's skin, drawing blood. The vampire glared at the ex-monster hunter.
"I can still rip your throat out." The vampire threatened. Trevor smirked.
"You can, but it won't stop me staking you."
"But you will still die." The vampire stated.
"But I don't care. Killing you was the point. Living through it was just a luxury." Trevor said. Suddenly, they heard ice shards and fire. Meilė, Ramybė and Sypha all stood behind the Vampire, all ready with their own weapons. Sypha held her index and ring fingers up, a small ball of flame floating between the two. Ramybė stood, her knees bent. One of her arms was bent over her head and the other straightened. Her hands were formed in fists. Meilė had both of her arms covered in ice. The points of the ice were sharp.
"My sister and I will kill you before your fangs touch that man's throat." Meilė threatened. The vampire glanced back, looking at Sypha.
"I thought I was your legendary savior." He said. Sypha's eyes narrowed at him.
"So did I. But he saved my life." She said.
"And he is our best friend." Ramybė said. The vampire looked at Sypha.
"You're a Speaker-Magician." He said. He looked at the twins. "And you two. You are the daughters of an ancient race. Known as the Elemental Guardians." The vampire said. Ramybė and Meilė glanced at each other, confused. They had never heard of this ancient race before. Ramybė nodded.
"Even so. Sypha and Trevor's goals are ours. To stand up for the people." Ramybė said. The vampire glanced at Meilė. She nodded, confirming that she stood with her sister. Instead of attacking again, the vampire smiled in what seemed like happiness and relief.
"Good." He said. He let go of Trevor's hair and stood. The wound from the stake healed. "Very good." He said. Trevor, Sypha and the twins stared at the male in shock and astonishment. "A vampire hunter, a magician and the daughters of an ancient race. You'll do." He said. The ice that had been around Meilė's arms melted into a puddle of water. Maneuvering her wrists, the water came up from the floor and went into the water skin around her waist. She was surprised that it hadn't fallen off after everything they had been through. The vampire stood at his full height. Meilė glanced at her sister and noticed that Ramybė had a hard time not staring at the vampire's bare chest. Meilė snickered quietly at her sister, which earned a pebble to her head.
"I am Adrian Tepes." Adrian introduced. Meilė's eyes widened. She had read about him. He was know to the Wallachians as.."
"Known to the Wallachians as Alucard." Meilė said. Alucard glanced at her and nodded.
"Yes. That is correct. I am the son of Vlad Dracula Tepes," when he said that, he seemed sad to be related to a man with so much hate. Alucard looked around the room. "I've been asleep here in my private keep under Gresit for a year, to heal the wounds dealt by my father when I attempted to stop him unleashing his demon armies." He said. Ramybė's eyes saddened. How could a father do that to his own son? The scar looked painful. Sypha's eyes widened.
"You are the sleeping soldier." She said in astonishment. The twins' eyes widened at the realization. Alucard nodded and looked at Sypha.
"I'm aware of the stories. I'm also aware that the Speakers consider the story to be information from the future. Do you know the whole story?" He asked. Sypha seemed to flush at his question.
"Yes."
Alucard looked at Trevor.
"The sleeping soldier will be met by a hunter, a scholar and two twin sisters. Daughters of an ancient race of Elemental Guardians that once protected Wallachia." Alucard said. Meilė and Ramybė stared at each other in shock.
"No one told us that." Trevor said, sounding just as astonished as the twins. Sypha looked at the three ex-monster hunters.
"Why do you think my grandfather tried everything to make the three of you stay?" Sypha asked. Meilė hummed in thought. She walked over to where Trevor was.
"I hate Speakers." He grumbled. He grunted as Meilė grabbed his arm gently and helped him up. The two turned and looked at each other, both of their hands resting on each other's elbows.
"Trevor, are you alright? Do you need me to heal anything?" She asked. Trevor smiled gently at Meilė and tucked some of her hair behind her ear.
"No. I'm fine, Meilė. Thank you for the offer." He said. Ramybė stepped forward and looked at the Son of Dracula.
"So, what happens now?" She asked. The others watched as Alucard walked over to where he had been previously sleeping and grabbed a long black coat and put it over his shirtless chest. With a wave of his hand, the silver sword came flying towards him and slid into the sheath.
"I need a hunter, a scholar and the daughters of an ancient race. I need help to save Wallachia, perhaps the world. And defeat my father." Alucard said. Trevor narrowed his eyes at the male.
"Why?" He asked. Alucard stopped at the last step.
"Because it is what my mother would have wanted." The way he said it sounded sad. "And we are all, in the end, slaves to our families' wishes." He said. Ramybė looked at him.
"You'll help us kill Dracula and save Wallachia?" She asked. Alucard looked back at Ramybė.
"My father has to die." He watched as the scholar, the hunter and the twins stood by his side. "We five, we can destroy him." Alucard said. Ramybė and Meilė looked at each other and they both took Alucard's hands. Alucard looked at the sisters in shock.
"We'll help you." Ramybė said, smiling at the half vampire. Alucard looked at Meilė. She nodded.
"We will. As long as you promise to tell Ramybė and I everything we don't know about us being the daughters of some ancient Elemental Guardians." Meilė said. Alucard chuckled and nodded.
"Very well. I will tell you, in time." He said.
