Its been at least a month since they killed my parents. My whole family, on both sides, has abandoned me and refuses to help me with life. I stay at home and stopped going to school, everyone there hates me anyways, so I've filled my days with reading books, tending to the garden in the back yard, and talking to myself. I know its weird i talk to myself but its the only way i can keep myself company. Most people think im crazy like my parents, they talked to themselves all the time when they thought no one was around. My parents, Sky and Hunter Alphina, were killed by a group of thugs wanting their money and me. They protected me but in the process died, i was the only one who cared about my parents.

I've been crying myself to sleep for the first week or two but i soon got used to being alone in the house. All my friends ignored me and my boyfriend broke up with me the day after my parents died, then i was fired from my job. That first week was the worst ever and i stopped going to school and around town. Luckily my house was at the edge of the forest so then i went there when i didn't have anything else to do.

I keep feeling like someone watches me there but im the only person who ever go that far into the forest. The moon was my last friend who would "talk" to me. Whenever i looked at it i could here a voice saying that its OK to grief about the death of my parents.

"Luna, you must stay strong and don't look back on your past for you will meet new people who will help on an amazing journey." the moon told me last night.

"Why would anyone want to be around me? Im nothing like a normal girl and i have no one but you, moon." I said to the moon.

The moon didn't reply because it was sunrise. Me and the moon would talk for hours almost every night to keep each other company. I went to sleep when the sun was coming on those nights.

Someone knocked on the front door, startling me. "Hello? Anyone here?" a low voice asked from outside the door. I peeked through one of the windows near that door and a boy with blue eyes and blondish hair was outside. He was wearing a t-shirt, a pair of jeans, and sneakers.

He saw me and i pulled my head away from the window. I walked to the door and opened it enough for me to talk to him. "Who are you and why are you here?" i asked in a tone that made me sound like some sort of leader.

"Im Bailey and im here to talk to a miss Luna Alphina. Is she here?"

"Your talkin to her."

"Can i come in?"

"No." i said, slamming the door in his face.

He knocked on the door again and when i opened it, i saw he was with 2 girls and boy. They looked to be about my age and i opened the door wider, to see them all better.

"Im maddy, this is Danielle, Bailey, and Landon." the blonde girl said, gesturing to her friends.

"What do you all want." i said flatly.

"We heard about the death of your parents last month and that you've been talking to the moon." said Bailey, looking past me and into the house.

The sun was going down faster than other winter night. "Inside, now." i ordered them. They didn't move so i yanked them inside. I dragged them to the basement and and when we were all there, i locked the door and put a bunch of heavy stuff in front of it.

"Why the hell did you just lock us all in here!" Landon yelled.

"Safety." i said.

"Safety from what?" asked Maddy from behind Landon.

"From things that lurk at night and kill for joy. Its the best idea to stay out of the moonlight for a bit." i said. I knew a lot about the evil creatures out there in the moonlight.

"Whats wrong with the moonlight?" bailey asked.

"The moonlight is dangerous to humans who haven't been treated yet." i said.

"Treated? Treated for what?" Danielle asked.

"Treated to stay human, to not become a werewolf..." i trailed off, remembering when i first shifted into a wolf. I wasn't treated and it was the first time i went into the light of a blue moon.

I felt tears fall down my cheeks and i quickly wiped them away. That night i shifted was the night my mother gave me her necklace, the night she and my dad were killed and it was my fault. I was being hunted and they were hurt because of me, because what i am now.

"Luna? You ok?" Bailey asked, his voice almost a whisper.

"I-I'm fine." i said quickly.

"We should all get some sleep, and stay away from the window. Don't want anyone to turn into a monster, right?" Landon said. I could tell he meant to make me laugh but it didn't. I walked over a corner near the window and laid down, resting my head against the cement wall and pulling my knees up to my chest.

"Luna, why don't you come over here with us? Don't want you to freeze, do we?" Maddy said, crawling towards me on her hands and knees.

"I'm fine, Maddy. Go ahead and stay warm with your friends, i can keep myself warm." i told her.

The moonlight shifted and it was on me, all the light of a full moon. I felt my wolf want to come out and howl at the moon but i kept her at bay will all my will power. She was too strong.

I tried not to scream in pain but failed, my body reshaping into a into a wolf's. The shifting part was something i wasn't used to yet. I felt fur cover my body, felt my eyes changing into a silvery blue color like the blue moon. When i opened my eyes, i was on all fours and in my wolf form. Maddy and Danielle were in a corner, trying to hide from me. Landon and Bailey were pointing sharp sticks at my head and side, ready to spear me.

"Guys! Its still me, Luna!" i thought.

"Girls, call the hunter!" Landon yelled at Maddy and Danielle.

I tucked my tail between my legs and did puppy eyes at them, hoping that i wouldn't be killed. The moonlight shifted again and was going for the boys. I stopped with my pleading act and grabbed landon by the shirt and tossed him to the wall away from the window but as i was about to get Bailey out of the way, the moonlight was already upon him. He fell to the ground and closed his eyes as his body shifted into a wolf's, his fur the same color as his human hair. He opened his eyes and they were still the winter ocean blue as before.

"What happened! Why am i a wolf!?" he exclaimed in his head, which i could hear his thoughts.

"Bailey! You're a werewolf now, like me!" i thought, smiling in my mind.

"Oh my Selene! Your smiling so wide, Luna! Is this good or bad? I can't quite tell."

"Both. We're both gonna be hunted and feared, i was too slow to get you out of the way of the moonlight and I'm sorry for that, now your life is ruined, too." a tear left my eye and I walked over to my corner and laid down on my side.

I shifted back and closed my eyes to sleep but something grabbed my shirt and started to pull me across the floor. I just let it drag me and i fell asleep when it let go of my shirt.
