Chapter 3 (Pt. 1) - Evelyn
Evelyn was excited to have Amelia sleeping over all the time now. It had been a few days since Camilo had disappeared into thin air. Needless to say, a permanent slumber party was a great way to distract Amelia, and prepare the birthday upcoming.
Though, it was annoying that Viktor had to sleep in the guest room that she and her father had kept clean for years now. When she and her father spoke about it, it came down to this; Cody Lewis was not going to have a teenage boy sleeping in his room, or his daughter's room. Plus? That room had been vacant for years. Even when Evelyn had argued that it was supposed to be a room dedicated to her mother, her father had to say that it was a guest room now, and her mother would never be angry to share with a kid in need.
"Thanks for twisting these things with me, Amelia. They're going to be so beautiful!" Evelyn encouraged, referring to the streamers. The girls had just finished hanging the twisted streamers together over the doors. There were four colors, alternating. On one door, a grape and bubblegum color combination. On another, a teal and seafoam. Of course, to the guys they were just 'purple, pink, blue, green'. Thank goodness her father had allowed her to decorate with Amelia, right?
Speaking of Cody... The man stepped into the room, sipping at a cup of coffee. A busy man such as himself thrived on the stuff. It was a must-have of life when someone was stuck in a hospital half the time, and expected to go there if necessary the other half. "So what are you fine young ladies up to? Making it impossible to move around my house?" He asked in a friendly manner, eyes on his daughter. "Well, my birthday's in two days, dad! We're setting everything up." Evelyn smiled, then threw her arms around him. "Thanks for letting me have a party here!" She chirped. Cody chuckled, and placed an arm around her. He held her safely in his arms, his presence enough to provide her with the fortitude she needed to keep moving forward.
"So what about that boy you were going to invite?" He asked, and Evelyn perked up. "Oh my gosh, I almost forgot! Trevor!" Evelyn looked back over at Amelia, who took out her phone. "I texted him that you had something to tell him. He said 'cool'." Amelia explained, and smiled weakly at her friend. "Ooh! I guess I have to speak with him tomorrow. The day after is the party!" Evelyn pursed her lips. Her eyes traveled up to her father, who just snickered. "It's alright. You're of the age where you can't start dreaming about boys." He dipped his head politely to her.
Evelyn squeed lightly, then took Amelia's hands in her own. "This is going to be amazeballs. You should get in your prettiest dress, and I'll wear mine." Evelyn sighed dreamily, and left the room. She went to get a box with more decorations inside. From the other room, though, she honed in on the conversation between her father and her best friend. "We'll see him sooner or later, Amelia. Don't worry." The man spoke calmly to his daughter's best friend. "In fact, I bet by the time the party comes, you'll all be sitting pretty and he'll be found." The man winked, and swallowed another mouthful of his drink.
(Poor Amelia. We'll have to hope she'll be alright. This episode is a liiiittle shorter. Next week's will also be a liiiiittle shorter. Let me know if you prefer it that way! Have a blessed day, troops!)
