"There's always something to fight for."

The whole ride towards Pelennor fields, my thought are with Aragorn, with Frodo and with my own quest. I do not know when it is coming, when dead is ready to take me or when I have to fight. I know I have to fight Sauron. But I do not know how...

'Henig, trust in yourself. You know when your time shall come to fight. But it is not now. Keep your friends save' Naneth's voice sounds clear in my head. 'Thank you Naneth' I sigh deeply. Knowing that I shall live for another battle to fight.

How closer we come to Minas Tirith, how more the sounds of battle grows. I can hear the thunder of rolling catapults, throwing their rocks against the walls of the king's city. I can hear the yelling of the thousands of Orcs, waiting for us. Before and next to me, some riders take their horns and set them on their mouth. The sound of the horns is like thunder and I am sure the orcs can hear it.

The king holds his hand in the air, a sign to stop. We are standing on a hill, looking out over Pelennor fields. More than fifty-thousand orcs are swarming around the base of the king's city and thick black smoke belches from within it. I can see that Éowyn puts a comforting hand on Merry's shoulder. But when she looks at me, I can see the fear of dead in her eyes. I nod at her trying to comfort her. 'I am with you' I say to hear, only for Éowyn to hear. She smiles, but still the fear is visible. Merry is shaking a little. I turn to my friend. 'Courage Merry, think of Pippin, Frodo, Sam'

'Yes Courage, Merry courage for our friends' Éowyn adds with a sad smile. I look up when I see movement on the battlefield. I listen carefully. 'Form ranks, you maggots! Form ranks! Pikes in front, lances behind' I can't help but smile. The orcs are preparing themselves.

Théoden king gallops in front of us, shouting orders to our captains. 'Éomer, take your Éored down the left flank ... Gamling! Follow the King's banner down the centre. Grimbold,

take your company right, after we pass the wall. Forth, and fear no darkness!' He shouts in an urgent tone. Then he rides to the front and rises in his stirrups. He looks so tall and proud, a king of men. 'Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden! Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered ... A sword day, a red day , 'ere the sun rises!' He yells in a clear loud voice. On that very moment a ray of sunlight escapes through the black clouds, bathing all of us in golden light. The men around me hold their spears aloft, except Éowyn and I, who have only our swords. We grin towards each other, but it is more the nervousness.

I am fighting alone.

Without Aragorn, Legolas or Gimli.

No help.

I have to protect Éowyn and Merry alone.

I turn back from the sunlight towards the battlefield and see that the orcs have kneeled down on the ground and have raised their lances. 'Eleniel' I hear Merry whisper. I turn to the hobbit, clutching Éowyn's arm in fear. I open my mouth to say something but Éowyn is faster. 'Whatever happens, stay with me. I'll look after you' She looks at me. 'We look after each other' I reply and she smiles. The sound of metal against metal can be heard and all three of us look to the front. Théoden king rides past the ranks of soldiers and runs his lance along their spears.

'Ride now, ride now, ride, ride for ruin, and the world's ending!' He calls out and turns his horse so he faces the enemy. 'Death!' He screams. And as something awakes in me, in all of us. We scream as one. 'Death!'

Merry whips out his little sword and holds it in the air.

'Death!' Merry screams.

'Death!' The word echoes over Pelennor fields. The king's horse prances. 'Death! Forth, Eorlingas!' And with this final call, the Rohirrim burst forward, down the hill. Déor rushes forward and I rise my sword into the air. I scream when I burst down the hill. We are like a great wall of water coming down on the army of orcs.

The wind is blowing in my hair and I feel so free.

Next to me I can hear Merry scream at the top of his lungs. But in the front, the orcs are ready. 'Fire' Their commander yells and the first volley of arrows is fired. Many soldier fall to their dead. But Théoden king urges his horse to move faster. He rides out before us. 'Charge!' He yells.

A second volley of arrows is coming our way but we continue. And I can see the sudden fear appear by the orcs. The sudden fear of losing this war, their lives.

Maybe we look like mad man and maybe the men around me are crazy. Crazy enough to leave their house, their families. To join a war, a battle what is not theirs to fight.

But it is their battle, this is concerning all the free people in Middle Earth.

Déor prances at the sight of the spears held high. But the riders in the front overrun the orcs. The vanish under their hooves, like sand beneath a foaming breaker. We all race towards the middle of the army of orcs.

Again arrows rain down on us. But the soldiers around me continue thundering through the army of orcs. We crash into them and I slice many with my sword. They are dead in seconds. Déor races through the orcs and I move from left to right, killing every orc in my path.

Some orcs are already fleeing from us, racing back towards the way they came! 'Drive them into the river!' Éomer yells proudly. 'Make safe the city!' The king yells happily. But a sound of horns makes me shiver. I turn to the direction the orcs are fleeing and see massive Oliphaunts coming our way. The orcs are already reforming their line. The Oliphaunt riders let again their horn sound. 'Reform the line...Reform the line!' Théoden yells and I can hear the panic in his voice. I move Déor back into line, searching for Merry and Éowyn and I let my breath escape when I see them a couple of rows behind me. 'Sound the charge!' I hear the king yell towards Gamling and he does what the king orders. Théoden raises his sword. 'Charge!' He yells and I scream with hem, moving Déor. He charges towards the line of Oliphaunts. I duck and try to avoid the massive creatures. But many of the Rohirrim are not that lucky. They are crushed beneath the feet of the beasts. 'Eleniel!' I turn around towards the sound of my name and in horror I see Merry and Éowyn falling on the ground. Their horse stands up again and in panic the horse races away. I try to turn Déor and pull the reins. But he doesn't listen. He neighs and pushes forward, away from the massive creatures who kill everyone on their path.

No!

I have to help them!

Suddenly I am on the ground, a blade sticking out of my lower stomach. A filthy orc is standing above me. 'A she-elf on the battle-field? You are someone special aren't you?' he grins and takes another blade out of his belt, ready to strike again.

Stop

Everyone and everything stands still. I stopped time itself. I crawl away from the orc, still standing in the bending position. I stand up and cut his head from his body with one slice of my sword.
Now I have time to look around.

I see men dying, men already dead. Horse crushed under the feet of the Oliphaunts. So much dead. Where are Merry and Éowyn?

I start walking in the direction I saw them a couple of minutes ago. I look to the men, some are blocking a sword others kill an orc. I sigh. If I start the time again, some men are going to die. Yes, I could kill every orc on my own, but that isn't supposed to be happening. All creatures of Arda have their own destiny. I know that now.

'Very good daughter'

Ada.

There he is standing before me, in all his glory. 'How?' I mumble when I throw myself in his arms. 'You stopped time itself, no one can see me now' He says and release me. He looks around. 'So, were is your king?'

'Ada! This isn't the time' Ada grins. 'I am not saying it' He laughs. I ignore him and turn around. 'What can I do?'

'You have to start time again. Aragorn is coming soon with the army from the mountains, so you have to hold on a little longer' Ada says and takes my hand. 'Henig, we are so proud of you, all of the Valar are. You have done things we never held for possible'

'But I have done nothing special yet! The only thing I have done is fighting, trying to save Middle Earth'

'And that's why we are so proud of you' Ada smiles and caress my cheek. 'Henig, your powers have no limit, even for a Ainur. But you did everything like an normal she-elf'

'That is because I am one' I say quietly and look away from him. 'I know you still have questions and they shall be answered. But know we sent you to Middle Earth for a reason and that reason is almost ended' Ada says lovingly.

And he is gone.

It feels like a heavy weight is lifted from my shoulders. They are proud of me! I know that now. And that my quest is almost finished.

Begin

The chaos is back again, the screaming fills my ears. I look up, the Witch-King on his Nazgûl is circling down towards the ground, towards his prey. I start running towards him, but I am blocked by a couple of orcs. I cut their heads off and start running again. But I am too late. The Witch-King is on his Nazgûl, standing before someone laying on the ground. But a soldier sprints forward and blocks the way towards the prey of the Nazgûl. 'I will kill you if you touch him!' The soldier cries.

I recognize that voice. Éowyn!

The Witch-King laughs. 'Do not come between the Nazgûl and his prey!' The Nazgûl lifts Éowyn from her feet but with a might blow from her sword, the beast's head is severed! The Nazgûl crumples to the ground, the vast wings out-stretched, sending the witch king sprawling! He rises out of the wreckage. Éowyn standing before him, but I can see her fear and start running towards her. He shrieks and knocks Éowyn backwards. She tries to stand and hits him once again with another blow, but he laughs and smashes his mace downward. I jump in front of Éowyn and block his mace with my sword but it shatters into many pieces. Éowyn cries a battle cry but also her shield is shattered. My arm feels weird and heavy and next to me lies Éowyn, she tries to stand up. But the Witch-King towers over us and raises his mace for a the killing blow. 'No man can kill me, nor can a simple she-elf. Die!' He grabs my throat, suffocating me.

'Eleniel!' Again Merry's voice.

Sword.

A new sword appears in my hand and suddenly the Witch-King is on his knees, Merry laying behind him, whimpering in pain.

No.

I can't move.

'The Daughter of the Ainur' The Witch-King says. He is so focused on me that he doesn't notice that Éowyn is already standing on her feet. She pulls her helmet off and her long her falls down onto her shoulders. She looks at me and smiles. 'I am no man!' She cries and thrust her sword into the Witch-King's face. Again her sword shatters and Éowyn falls down on the ground, whimpering. The Witch-King is dying but wants to take me with him. I struggle to break free.

'Kill Him' I order the sword and I let it go, the sword trust itself in his chest. 'I am no simple She-Elf! I am the Daughter of the Ainur!' I cry out when the Witch-King crumbles to his dead.

My head feels light and my sight is red, red of the thirst of blood, I want this to end!

Everywhere you look, green men appear, transparent. The ghost army of the Mountains! That means Aragorn is here!

I look back to Éowyn and Merry, She lays next to her uncle, King Théoden is no more. I stand up, looking around for another orc to kill. But there are no more.

The battle of Pelennor field has ended.

I look towards Merry and Éowyn, they need help, I need help. But I know only one who can cure us.

I start running towards the three men I see standing in the distant.

'I hold your oath fulfilled... Go' I hear Aragorn say and the army of the dead slowly dissolves into dust and swept away by the wind. 'Aragorn!' I yell and he turns around. 'Melamin!' And I run into his arms, burying my head in the crook of his neck. 'You have to help us' I say and he looks immediately worried. A cry out is heard on the field, I look towards the direction of the sound and see Éomer clutching Éowyn in his arms.

'Come' I see quietly and kiss him. He release me and together with Legolas and Gimli we walk towards the king's city.

We are not finished yet.

Only two chapters left! I hope you like it so far!
