Kennedy's POV

"Hello Mrs. Grayson." Tony greets my mother civilly as she walks into the Stark Tower meeting room, "We invited you over here to discuss the court proceedings and see if we can come to an understanding on our own, without more bad publicity from the court case." My mother smiles slyly before saying,

"Why would I make an sort of agreement with you, I have the upper hand in this case, I'm going to win no matter what agreement you want to make me." She eyes Pepper and I as she sits down across from us.

"Because I have a strong feeling that you don't really want to raise a teenage girl, what are you after here? what do you want from this case? you've shown us from past experiences that you really don't care to raise Kennedy as your own." He counters. She pauses,

"You're right Mr. Stark I don't want to raise a teenage girl so I'll make you a deal, if you pay me off I'll drop all the charges, you and Kennedy can live happily ever after being superheroes or whatever it is you do, and I'll leave and never come back. What do you say?" Tony Chuckles spitefully,

"There's no chance i'm giving you a single cent."

"You have nothing, you can't win this. I'll walk into that courtroom with evidence that you invited me to your house, I'll tell the court that you tried to pay me off for the custody of Kennedy, and they'll believe me because I'm her mother. The only way for you to walk out on top is to give me what I want." She threatens.

"I guess we can't come to an understanding then, sorry for wasting your time." Tony finishes before opening the door and ushering her out. my mother gives the three of us pointed looks and says,

"See you in court." She smiles smugly then retreats out of the tower. I let out a breath that I'd been holding while my mother was in the room

"Do you think this is gonna work?" I ask the two of them.

"there's no doubt in my mind." Tony replies, I smile at him. Maybe we are gonna win this after all! I can't wait to tell. . . Peter.

Peter's POV

It's been more than a month of agony since May told me to stay away from stark tower. I haven't even texted Kennedy in that whole time, I know I'm a horrible friend for it, but I don't know what I would say, and somehow telling her would make it seem real. But I know I can't avoid her forever, I have to face the fact eventually. I haven't stopped thinking about her, I wonder what she's been doing, I wonder whether the court case is going well, and most of all I wonder if she misses me as much as I miss her. A knock on my door interrupts my moping.

"Peter?" Aunt may says as she pushes the door open and comes in slowly. I train my full attention at my computer, pretending I can't hear her. "How are you sweetie?" She sits down on my bed, I continue to ignore her. "Who am I kidding? I know you're miserable, and it's frankly starting to worry me. When you're not home you're at school, and when you're not at school you're shut up in your room, you hardly even talk to me anymore." I stay silent. "Your arm is healed Peter, you have no reason to be staying around here, you should be out with your friends having a normal teenage life."

"The Stark internship was my life." I mumble after her speech.

"I know." She lets out a long sigh "And that's why I've decided to let you go back." For a second I don't believe my ears, I spin my chair toward her.

"What?!" I ask in complete surprise.

"Well I can't have you moping around here being depressed all day every day. And you're right, I can't protect you from anything that might be remotely dangerous, I've just got to let you live your life."

"Yes! Thank you so much!" I jump up and give her a hug. "Thank you thank you thank you." I let go of her before snatching up my backpack and darting out of the room, But half way down the hall way I am stopped in my tracks by May yelling.

"Hold it! Not so fast." I pause and turn back toward her. "You can't go now, tomorrow is a school day, and i happened to notice that you have been slacking on your homework."

"But May, I can do that-"

"Right now." She interrupts me. "Get your homework done, and you can go tomorrow after school." She insists. I let out a sigh, but trudge back into my room to do my homework. Impatient to see Kennedy again, and hoping desperately that she's not mad at me.
