Crystal gave her an apologetic look. "This will hurt."
-------------
When she twisted Piper's foot the right way, Piper flinched and punched Leo in the arm.
"Sorry!" Crystal worked quickly, and after a minute or two, Piper's foot was splinted.
Jason handed Piper some water then turned to Crystal. "Where did you learn that?"
Crystal shrugged. "I spent a lot of time in the infirmary. You pick up some things."
"Like snapping a nose back into place?" Leo asked.
"Yep."
"Where are we?" Piper asked.
"I think we crash landed in Detroit." He looked around.
"Without Festus," Jason said. "We'll have to travel over land-"
"No!" Crystal interrupted.
"Why?" Leo asked.
"I don't know. I don't think it's safe." She said.
Piper nodded. "Crystal is right-"
"Why, thank you."
"And I don't think I can walk. Plus, you can't fly four people across the country, Jason." Piper continued.
"Leo, are you sure Festus didn't malfunction?" Jason turned to him. "I mean, he is old and-"
"We didn't fix him right?" Leo said.
"Leo, you know that's not what he meant." Crystal protested.
"I don't know if I could fix him. I'd have to find him, hopefully in one piece," Leo looked down. "Anyway, I'll go look for Festus. He might've fallen outside the warehouse."
"I'll go with you," Crystal stood up.
"No, you stay with Jason and Piper. They might need your awesomeness," Leo smiled. "Besides, I got duct tape! I'll be fine."
Without another word, he reached in his belt and pulled out a flashlight. After he left, Piper and Jason started to converse. Deciding to leave them be, Crystal looked at a sign covered in graffiti. It was a red eye with words. It was a bit difficult to read, not just from the graffiti, but also due to her dyslexia. It took her a moment, she she found it read: Monocle Motors, Assembly Plant 1.
Something about the sign bothered her. A loud slam pulled her out of her thoughts. It sounds like a metal door slamming shut. The sound echoed through the whole warehouse.
"Leo?" She called out.
No answer.
Jason stood up and pulled out a coin Crystal had never noticed before. He flipped it and to Crystal's amazement, it turned into a golden sword.
"I don't like this..." Jason said.
Piper shooked her head. "I'll be fine. I have Crystal too, right?"
Crystal nodded. "I got my homegirl's back."
She pulled out her Blade of Blood and flipped it in the air, catching it by the hilt. Jason nodded and disappeared into the darkness.
Crystal looked at Piper who looked as scared as she was.
"He'll be fine Piper. Give him a-"
A loud bang interrupted her. Piper's hand darted into the backpack. She pulled out a square of ambrosia.
"Piper? What are you doing?! Don't!" Crystal eyes widened.
Too late. Piper shoved the whole square in her mouth. She tentatively took off her splint and flexed her ankle.
"No pain," She said.
"Piper, that was stupid and dangerous." Crystal frowned.
She heard another bang, this time closer to them. Piper grabbed her dagger. She and Crystal shared a fearful glance.
"Jason?" Piper called out.
"Yeah," he said from he darkness. "I'm coming."
Although it sounded like Jason, Crystal's hair stood up on her neck. She stepped in front of Piper. The steps came closer. Out of the darkness, a face appeared.
It was definitely not Jason.
It had a horrible black grin, a smashed nose, a one bloodshot eye in the middle of its forehead.
"Its fine," the Cyclops said in a perfect imitation of Jason's voice. "You're just in time for dinner."
Crystal lunged at the face, aiming for the eye. He moved his hand and batted her away from his face. She slammed into a wall, the world going black.
