Chapter Fourty-Four

Phoebe started to break camp and Thalia handed Jason and Leo some coats. They began to run up a mountain. Leo trailed behind the group with Jason and talked to him. Crystal couldn't understand that they were saying, their words were lost in the wind.

So where are you going to now?

Crystal groaned.

Nah, I'm kidding. I know what you're doing, I listen to everything you guys say.

"Creepy much?"

Actually it is. Anyway, you'll never make it to Piper's dad and Hera in time.

"Is that all you want? To annoy me? Cause it sure is working."

You'll see...

Crystal focused on running up the mountain, which was fairly difficult. Camp Half-Blood didn't have mountains to train on, unless you count the climbing wall. However, the climbing wall was nothing like a mountain. The group stopped and Crystal stared at the large object in front of her. Before she could say anything, a body slammed into her, causing the both of them to tumble down the mountain side.

Crystal stabbed her dagger into the ground, trying to slow them to a stop.

So you just gonna stab me with a knife that I gave you from my body, in my body with a knife. I can make a rock appear and trip you.

Once she had slowed down, Crystal glared down at the person.

"The hell, Leo?"

The Latino sheepishly apologized. They both got up and dusted themselves off. Just as Crystal took a step, she face planted into the ground. She looked back to where she was just standing and sitting there was a small rock.

"You have got to be kidding me." Crystal deadpanned.

I told you so.

Leo chuckled and helped Crystal up. Then his gaze traveled up toward the sky. In the air, was a large floating island. Unfortunately, the only way they could get there was to cross a thin bridge made of air.

"I am not crossing that thing," Crystal crossed her arms.

"Trust me," Thalia set a hand of Crystal's shoulder. "I wouldn't cross it either, but this is the only way."

Coach Hedge suddenly jumped onto the bridge.

"Let's go Piper!" He grabbed Piper's wrist and dragged her to the top with him.

Jason, Leo, Crystal and Thalia followed. The journey was a little quiet. Everything seemed fine until halfway up, when Leo suddenly stopped.

"What's going on, Leo?" Crystal asked, standing behind him.

He didn't reply, but his pants began to steam and the ice began to thin underneath him.

He looked down and paled. "Oh gods."

"Jason, what was that house called in your dream? The Wolf House?" Leo looked back up.

"The Wolf House? What didn't so you say so! You guys keep going, I'll meet you there, I swear!" Thalia turned around and ran back to the Hunters.

Before Jason could reply, Crystal interrupted him. "We need to move, now."

The three began climbing to the top, as quickly as possible. The bridge was on the edge of breaking. As soon as Jason's and Leo's feet touched the ground, the bridge collapsed.

"Leo, help!" Crystal called out.

The small bridge began falling to the earth. Leo reached out and attempted to grab her hand. His fingertips brushed hers  and missed her hand by a millimeter. Leo's wide brown eyes met with Crystal's terror-stricken green eyes.

"Crystal!" Leo screamed, watching helplessly as Crystal disappeared into the clouds below.
