Chapter 66 - The morning after

It was still the dead of night when Sam Winchester jolted up in bed, his eyes wide and frantic. He tried to catch his breath, but his heart was beating so fast he thought it was going to burst right out of his chest. When he finally managed to free himself from the sheet tangled around his legs, he stumbled out of bed and ran to the bathroom. He'd never felt so sick in his entire life.
After retching the entire content of his stomach out, Sam sat back against the cold tiles of the wall. He focused on the chilliness. It helped steady his heart rate somewhat. And his breathing got better too. But his mind was a mess.

The dream had been so vivid. It was like she had been right there in the room with them. Sam closed his eyes to bring back the image of Allegra. It had been months since he last saw her, but could still picture every detail of her beautiful face. Those brown eyes with their golden twinkle, perfectly arched lips, fair cheekbones...
How often had Sam wished he had put his pride aside and just gone after her? Even if Allegra had turned him down and chosen his brother over him, they could still be friends, right? They could just hang out, look for Dean and Kevin, and be Hunters together and... and...
Sam sighed and leaned his head back against the wall. No. Staying away from Allegra was the right call. True, it hurt to be away from her, but it would be far more agonizing to be around each other. To be near her, knowing that she still preferred Dean after all the crap he pulled on her while he was right there... It would eat him up from the inside.

Feeling secure enough to stand, Sam pushed himself up. His knees buckled, and his head spun, but he found enough support by leaning against the sink. The cold water ran, and he splashed some on his face. As he did, the last image of his dream flashed before his eyes again. Sam staggered away from the sink, water dripping from his hands and face onto the floor. He stared blindly at his reflection in the mirror, hoping it would tell him he was imagining things and that it was just a really messed up dream. Because there was no way Allegra and Dean were together. It was simply impossible.
Wasn't it?

The sun shone directly on Allegra's face. She blinked and held her hand up against the unwelcome light. Her eyes fell on the alarm clock on the nightstand - only 7.30 am. She groaned in annoyance and tried to turn. That's when she noticed the arm around her waist, holding her securely but gently. What the...?
Allegra looked back over her shoulder to see Dean sleeping peacefully beside her. Their bodies were pressed closely together, lying underneath the grey duvet that usually lay at the foot end of the bed - their naked bodies.

Wh-When did we...? We were in the grove and... we...

The memories of the night before came flooding back to Allegra. She recalled meeting Lady Aosoth in the grove. The hellion did something to them. Something that had made them act on their desire to... to... Her eyes widened.

Did... we really...? Oh, God...

Allegra's trembling hand slid underneath the duvet. She carefully touched herself between her legs and gasped inaudibly at the tenderness. A spasm deep in her underbelly made her shudder. She pulled her hand back. Her fingers were warm and stuck together. The small amount of blood at the tip made her stiffen. She hurriedly stretched and pulled a tissue out of the box on the nightstand to wipe it off.
Tears welled up in Allegra's eyes as she lay back. She pressed her lips together as it all sunk in. Last night, she and Dean really... Yes, she remembered it all very clearly now. The passionate kisses, the rough strokes, the way he'd moved inside of her... Euphoria. There was no other way to describe the act itself and the overpowering feeling she had afterward. It was... so beautiful.
Her breath hitched as she realized that Gabriel truly hadn't lied. The one thing she had been convinced of to be just another of his lies wasn't. He said she was born to be with Dean and that he was the only one who could love her. It was true. It was all true...

"Alley?"

The arm around her grasped Allegra tighter. Upon feeling an insistent nudge, she rolled onto her back. Dean was up on his elbow and looked down at her. His hand left her belly and moved up to cup her face. He brushed away a tear with his thumb.
Allegra smiled weakly at him. He drew a bit closer and grazed her lips with his own. Even though it was an affectionate touch, Allegra winced when she felt a sudden sting. Dean drew back at her small exclamation of pain. She saw the gash in his lower lip where she bit him and reached for it, caressing it with the tip of her finger. When Dean moved his thumb over her own lip, she winced again. The pain reminded her of something.

"You're... You're okay, right?" she asked, grasping at his wrist. "You don't feel anything weird? Any pain or... burning?"

"I'm fine, don't worry," reassured Dean. "How about you? I didn't hurt you, did I?"

"I don't think so, no. I... I did bleed a little. But that's normal for some women when they... you know."

Dean exhaled in relief.

"I'm ah... I'm sorry if I was a little rough on you," he said shyly.

"A little?"

A blush of embarrassment crept up Dean's cheeks, and he quickly averted his eyes. Allegra snickered at his reaction and tried to pull him close to her again, but he suddenly raised himself a bit more.

"Damn, we really went wild."

She followed his gaze, pushing herself up against the headboard while keeping her breasts covered with the duvet. Her eyes widened at the chaos in the room. Clothes were scattered everywhere (Allegra reddened when she saw Dean's torn shirt). One of the paintings had come crashing down, probably after the bed had started knocking against the wall, and his jacket had landed right on top of the dresser, knocking everything right off it.
When Allegra turned to Dean, she suddenly noticed something from the corner of her eye. She looked a bit better and gasped at the sight of blood. This wasn't just a tiny amount from her hymen tearing and going at it a little roughly. She hadn't even lain in the spot where it was (that she could recall, anyway). With fear taking hold of her heart, Allegra grabbed hold of Dean's arm and pulled him down, ignoring his startled objection.

"Hey, take it easy; what's the matter?!"

"Oh my God," she whispered in shock.

"What?" Dean freed himself from her grip and sat back up to look at her. "Allegra, what?"

"Dean, your... your back."

Dean reached over his shoulder to feel. His fingers only traced the tip of a huge scratch that ran down his skin - one of many. Allegra had the eerie sensation of looking at her own back for a moment. She clawed him up like a wild animal did its prey.

"It's just a scratch. It's fine," said Dean, shrugging her concern away.

"It's not fine, Dean!" exclaimed Allegra. "Your back is a total mess! I... Goddammit, here you are all worried for me while you're the one who got hurt!"

"Don't worry; it'll heal. I'm okay, Alley, I swear. Look..."

He leaned against the headboard and gave her a reassuring smile. But the short 'auwch' Allegra heard in his mind just freaked her out even more. She let her eyes wander over the parts of his body that weren't covered up. Apart from the scratches on his back and the bite on his lip, Dean also had several bruises, most of which were on his chest. Allegra clasped her hand over her mouth and averted herself from him.

"Oh God, what did I do? What the hell did I do?! Wh-When did I get this strong?! I could've killed him! Never mind him burning to death; I could've actually killed him with my bare hands! I-I-I can't let this happen again! I ca-..."

"Don't you dare."

Dean took Allegra's face in his hands, forcing her to look at him. He pulled her into his gaze. She saw so much love in his eyes, more than she had ever seen in those beautiful golden-edged green pools.

"I'm fine, Allegra. I'm not in any pain, I swear. Yes, we got hit with that freaky mojo, and yes, things got out of hand, but I'm begging you, don't let any of that get in the way of us finally having this. Don't let the most amazing night I've ever had be a one-time thing, please."

Allegra took a deep breath. She'd kept Dean at bay for so long because of so many uncertainties, but she couldn't do that anymore. Now, she would keep him close because of the one thing that she was absolutely 100% sure of.

"Just promise me you'll immediately stop me if I do hurt you. Promise me, Dean.'

"I promise. The same goes for you, though. Tell me if I'm too rough, and I'll stop."

She nodded. The tension in her shoulders left, and she let Dean kiss her again. He pushed Allegra back down on the pillow ever so carefully. He moved closer to her body, pressing himself against her. Heat rose inside her, and butterflies fluttered in her belly. Would it always be like this from now on? Would she always just want more of him, addicted to his love and his body? She found part of her actually hoping for it.

"S-So euhm..." Allegra nudged Dean back a bit, her hands against his chest. "You really thought it was...? I mean, seeing how you've got more experience, was it really... euhm...?"

Dean frowned and tilted his head at her stammering. When he understood what she was trying to say, he grinned in amusement.

"Alley, are you seriously trying to ask me if I enjoyed having sex with you?"

"No!" she reacted sharply, blushing furiously. "Or... m-maybe?"

He gave a contained snort at first but then just burst out laughing. Allegra suddenly felt less guilty about clawing his back open like a hungry wolf.

"Stop laughing, you idiot!" she yelled indignantly, pounding her fist on his shoulder for good measure.

"I - ow! - I'm sorry!" Dean managed to dial down the laughter to a restrained chuckle after she struck him. "Sorry, I didn't mean to laugh, honest. It's just that no one's ever asked me that before. I don't think I've even asked anyone that before."

"Yeah, well, your mad skills in the bedroom aren't the ones in question, are they?" Allegra huffed at him.

"Neither are yours."

She raised her eyes to him. Dean sighed at her skeptical expression.

"You know, for a bad-ass hybrid Archangel, you can be really insecure sometimes. You want me to say it again? Fine, I'll say it again; last night was the most amazing night and the most amazing sex I've ever had. Everything I do with you is amazing because you are amazing."

The corner of Allegra's mouth went up into a smile. Her hands crept around Dean's neck, and she pulled him to her. He quickly moved on top of her, sliding himself expertly between the duvet and her body. Having the feel of his weight on her again made Allegra sigh in contentment in their kiss. She let herself get wrapped up completely by Dean. Feeling his full lips kissing her, his hot skin touching her, his bare member pressing against... against...
Allegra abruptly pushed Dean away. She sat up, her hands clutching the duvet to keep herself covered up. Her eyes frenziedly searched for the trash bin. They'd put it close to the bed, so they could easily dispose of the condoms they used during their make-out sessions. It was still where it always stood, near the nightstand on her side of the bed - empty.

"Alley? Hey, talk to me; what just happened?"

Allegra's head jerked back to Dean, meeting his confused expression.

"Did... Dean, did you use a condom?" she dared ask with a quivering voice.

Her question made Dean pause for a second, but then he slowly shook his head, to Allegra's great dismay. She groaned and buried her face in her hands, pulling her knees up.

"Un-freaking-believable! We got so caught up that we didn't even... We used a damn condom every single time we tried to have sex, and then when we finally... Dammit, dammit, dammit!"

"Alley, calm down." Dean put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "If you're worried about STDs, don't be. You never had sex before, so you can't possibly have any unless you did something crazy like drugs with shared needles or if you got a shady blood transfusion. And I'm good too, I swear. I got tested after I was with... after Seattle. I'd show you the results if Baby were here; the papers are in the..."

"Dean, stop, it's... it's not just about STDs." Allegra's hands crept away from her face. "What if... I get pregnant? The prophecy speaks of my union with Michael or Lucifer to form this ultimate being, which already terrifies me, but... Dean, what if any child I have is like... Emma?"

Allegra saw the corner of his mouth twitch as he nodded and pressed his lips together, lowering his gaze from her. She didn't like bringing that part of their past up, but Dean already had. And it had to be discussed. Dean told her he wouldn't mind kids that afternoon on Bobby's porch, but that was before he fathered an Amazon child who tried to kill him. Things could be different now.  Yet Dean's reaction wasn't what she expected.

"Emma was born from a monster and raised by them, with only one purpose drilled into her," he said in a surprisingly calm voice. "Our kid won't be like her. We may not be perfect, but we're a hell of a lot better than the Amazons. We'll make sure to teach him right from wrong."

"What about the plagues? The angels made me kill people when I was only 14 years old, Dean. If our child has my powers and the angels try to..."

"He'll have something you didn't; someone to show him the ropes. You can teach him what he needs to know and how he has to wield those powers. And I'll be right there with you, keeping an eye out to make sure those feathered asshats steer clear."

Allegra stared at him. She couldn't believe that he was really saying all of this. She would have expected him to freak out at the very notion of being a father, seeing how the whole situation with his *ahem* daughter had gone so swimmingly the last time. Emma was one of Dean's biggest mistakes and regrets, and she knew he still felt guilty for it. Not just because Emma was living proof that he cheated on her (and for the actual cheating part, too, obviously), but because a very small part of him actually wished he could've saved her from the monster she was born and nurtured to be.
If Dean really wanted a genuine shot at a family, Allegra would've thought he'd want it with assurances that the baby would turn out normal and nothing like the child he already lost. Because no matter how they looked at things, she was still a supernatural being herself, and the chances of any child she had turning out like her were very high (and that was disregarding any talk of who the father might turn out to be.) Yet here he was, seemingly ready to jump into the unknown, ready to embrace the possibility of having a supernatural baby to raise. She didn't like it one bit.

"Dean, I'm going to ask you this once, and I want a straight answer from you." Allegra put enough force in her voice to make sure he knew she was being serious. "Leaving out the question of whether it's going to be normal like you or part angel like me, do you really want to have a baby? It may already be too late, so I need to know that you're in it with me if I turn out to be pregnant. 'Cause I sure as hell can't do this on my own."

Dean's green and golden eyes locked with hers. He lifted his hand and pulled the grey cover away from Allegra. She tried to stop him at first, but there was something about how he was looking at her that told her it was okay. When he put his hand flat on her naked belly, her body relaxed on its own.

"I'm in." His clear-cut and loving voice echoed through her, all the way into her heart. "Either way, I am in. If you're not pregnant and want to wait, that's okay. I'll wear protection for as long as you want me to until we're both ready, I promise. But if you're really pregnant from what we did last night, then I honestly couldn't be happier. And I get why you're worried. I'm worried too. I have no idea how we're gonna take care of a supernatural baby, let alone a regular one, but I know we can do it, Alley. Together. You jump, I jump."

Allegra bit her lip to keep herself from crying. She placed her hand on top of Dean's as if already safeguarding the possible life growing inside of her.

"You jump, I jump."

Their kiss sealed the deal.
