Chapter Nine | Queen in Shining Armor
❃
|Storybrooke, One Week Later|
❃
Belle was beginning to think she had something more than the stomach flu. She had been sick for nearly a week now and even though she didn't want to face the answer, there was only one reason for her illness Belle could think of. And that meant she wasn't actually sick.
Belle felt like Sneezy was judging her silently as she made her purchase at the Dark Star Pharmacy, but where else was she supposed to buy what she needed? The dwarf should be glad he didn't have to sell to Zelena.
After buying what she needed, Belle headed back to the shop and went straight to the bathroom. Approximately three minutes later, Belle was staring down at what could have possibly been the best news of her life or the cruelest coincidence ever.
She was pregnant with Rumple's child, and he had been in the Underworld for a week now.

Regina opened her eyes. She wasn't sure how long she and Henry had been asleep, but they were still in the same place, so--
Henry.
Regina's eyes scanned the room frantically until they rested on Henry, who seemed to also just be waking up.
"What happened?" Henry asked his mother.
"Some sort of magic," she responded as she stood up. "It must have affected whoever was following us too. So we need to keep moving."
Henry stood up as well. "How long were we asleep?" The two began walking down the hallway.
Regina shrugged. "I have no idea. Hopefully not too long."
"Well if it was too long, we would have died from dehydration, right?" Henry asked.
"Right," Regina agreed. Although what she was actually thinking was, 'Who's to say we didn't die while we were asleep?'
It wasn't very long before Henry and Regina entered a room with several swords on the ground, looking as if someone had just tossed them into the room and left them there. Henry went to pick one up, but Regina cut him off.
"You already have a knife."
"But you don't have magic and my knife is our only defense at the moment," Henry argued.
"Then I will carry a sword." Regina couldn't deny that the pocket knife Robin had given Henry was the only weapon either of them had, but she didn't want Henry carrying around a sword. She also had a bad feeling about the swords simply being laid out in a room. It was possible they were getting closer to wherever Robin was and they'd need sword to defend themselves, or maybe the Labyrinth was about to lead them straight to the Minotaur or some other Greek monster.
Regina picked up a sword despite feeling on edge about the room. Nothing happened when Regina picked the weapon up off of the ground, which just made it seem even more like something bad was coming. However, the only thing Regina and Henry was carry on, hoping that they would somehow find Robin.

Belle ran through a list of the people currently in Storybrooke. There was King Arthur the villain and his wife who was under a spell of some sort. There was Archie Hopper, but Belle didn't know if she was ready to trust an ex-cricket with her secret. There was Maleficent and Lily, whom Belle didn't trust in the slightest. There was Isaac, the previous Author who also could not be trusted. There was Will Scarlet who, though he was a good friend, didn't need to know about the baby yet.
And there was Merida. Merida had tried to kill her, yes, but they had been friends of sorts during the missing six weeks. And Merida was loyal. She would be able to keep a secret.
So Belle found Merida in the woods with the merry men, giving them archery lessons.
"Fire!" All of the merry men released their arrows towards the trees they were facing. From what it looked like to Belle, they were doing pretty good. But Merida seemed unimpressed.
"Merida!" Belle called. Merida spun around to face Belle
"What is it? Need me ter arrest somebody again?"
"No, I need to talk to you. ...Alone."
Merida looked back to the merry me. "Five minute break! No killin' each other while I'm gone!"
Merida followed Belle out of earshot of the merry men.
"What's wrong? Are ya missin' Rumple? Because if ya want my advice, you should prob'ly not join them in the Underworld."
"No, I wasn't planning on going down there, I just..." Belle hesitated, trying to take her mind off of Merida's idea of finding him in the Underworld, "I just needed someone to talk to."
"Well get on with it. The Merry Men aren't gonna teach themselves. It's a wonder they're even still alive."
Belle took a deep breath. "Merida, I'm pregnant."

Cora hated that she was with Gold and even more than that, she loathed that they were alone. Mostly because she was slowly swaying herself to come clean to her daughter. But now that Cora had her heart back in her chest, she wanted to spare her daughter some pain, if at all possible. She was happy with Robin, supposedly (Cora wouldn't be convinced until she saw some proof), and the last thing Regina needed was for Cora to spill the beans about her true origins.
But that darned imp just kept causing the memories to resurface, and Cora wanted to strangle him. But according to Regina, he had a wife waiting for him back in the Overworld, and Regina would definitely never forgive her mother if she caused his Belle to be left a widow.
After the spell knocked them out for a week, things just went downhill for Cora and Gold both, but that's skipping ahead a bit.
"Left or right?" Gold asked.
"Right," Cora responded. She had no idea if Gold had noticed yet or not, but she had just going back and forth between right and left because how the heck was she supposed to know which passageway was the correct one?
The two turned left and found themselves in a hallway with dirt walls that Cora didn't trust one bit, but she had chosen the hallway, so she wasn't about to complain. Besides, she was already dead. If Gold died in the Underworld, it would suck to be him, but Cora would simply end up back on the banks of the River Styx. Being dead did have a few perks.
It was while Cora was dwelling on her thoughts of the past that a loud noise sounded and Gold stopped. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and looked at. Belle had texted him.
I don't know if this will work, but I need to talk to you. I need you to come back alive because I need to tell you in person.
"What is it?" Cora asked.
"It's Belle. Is there phone signal in the Underworld?"
"What's phone signal?" Cora had never taken the time to familiarize herself with all of the technology of Storybrooke. It was a wonder she even knew what technology meant.
"Never mind," Gold decided Cora would be no help when it came to technology of the modern world. He typed out a message to Belle and sent it.
Your text came through somehow. We think Hades knocked us unconscious with some sort of magic. how long have we been gone?
Belle's response came only a few minutes later.
Just over a week
Gold instantly felt bad for leaving Belle alone in Storybrooke for so long, but to be fair, he hadn't expected to be asleep for a week. He would have loved to keep texting Belle, but he and Cora needed to find either Robin or Regina and Henry, so he sent one final message.
I'll be back as soon as I can. Then you can tell me whatever it is you need to.
Gold didn't wait for a response. Instead, he slipped his phone back into his pocket and looked back at Cora. "Ready to keep moving?"
Cora nodded absentmindedly. Her mind was in the past again. Gold began walking again and Cora followed.

If there were two people Robin hadn't expected to be the first to enter the throne room after he awoke, it was Regina and Henry. But there they were. Regina was holding a sword which could have either been good or very bad, Robin wasn't sure.
Before Robin could announce that he was there, the youngest fury swooped down in front of Regina and Henry in an outfit that looked strangely like it had come straight from Ancient Greece. Then again, they were pretty much living in an Ancient Greek myth right now, so the clothing really shouldn't have been much of a surprise. Robin tried to call out and warn them that she was bad news, but his voice wouldn't work.
Regina stepped in front of Henry when the fury landed across from them. She had a sheath around her waist and Regina didn't really want to find out if her sword was enchanted. But other than the sheath, her outfit was definitely something from a Greek myth. Regina almost felt like she had seen the exact outfit somewhere before, but she couldn't dwell on that thought because the fury spoke.
"Hello, Regina Mills. Congratulations on finally making it to the Throne Room. Sadly, Hades, Persephone, and your half-sister are all out right now. But on the bright side, I'm here! Now - and this is just a guess, so feel free to correct me - but I do believe you're here for Robin of Locksley?"
Regina didn't know what to question first. How the fury knew her name, why Zelena would be in the Underworld, or where Robin was. She decided the last one was most important at the moment, and she'd most likely figure out the answer to the other two at some point.
"Yes, I'm here to rescue Robin."
The fury's smile turned to mock sadness. "Well, you see, Regina, there's a teensy problem here. You want Robin back, and I'm supposed to prevent that from happening. So I really do hope you understand that now, I have to kill one of you two."
"Not on my watch."
Everyone turned to find Cora and Gold, who had just entered the throne room from another entrance. Gold was holding his dagger and Cora stood in front of him, the expression on her face daring the fury to try and hurt Regina or Robin.
But the fury surprised everyone. She laughed. And while still in her human form, her wings whipped out. "I don't think you realize who you're messing with. I am the fury Megaera. And I never lose."
Behind Regina, Henry gasped, but the former Queen didn't have time to dwell on that because Megaera pulled her sword out of her sheath and Regina was just fast enough to block it from going through her chest.

|Storybrooke|

Dorothy hadn't expected anyone in Storybrooke to deliberately seek her out for reasons other than those concerning Zelena's death. However, Belle surprised her.
"What do you need?" Dorothy asked. "Is someone else asking for confirmation of the deceased Wicked Witch?"
Belle shook her head. "No. I need your help. You came here from Oz, which means you know how to make portals."
Dorothy didn't know what direction this was headed, but she had a feeling it wasn't a very good one. "I do...to an extent..."
Belle was hoping Dorothy would be able to help her because she wasn't sure where else to go for help. Portals was one thing Rumple tended to stay away from when he collected books on magic. After he told Belle the full story of Baelfire, she understood why.
So Belle had come to Dorothy for help, and now it was time to make her request and hope Dorothy would not only be able to help her, but also choose to help her.
"I need a portal to the Underworld."

|The Throne Room|
❃
Swords clashed as Megaera battled Regina. Megaera and Regina both had sparks of magic fluttering around them, but no one could tell if they were coming from the fury, the former Evil Queen, or both.
As the pair moved closer to the throne, Gold rushed over to Henry. Regina wanted to watch what was happening, but she needed her full focus to be on the fight with Megaera. So Regina pressed harder. It was clear Megaera was a much better swordfighter, but Regina was holding out pretty well considering she was using only the skills she had picked up in Isaac's universe.
That is, until Megaera spun away from the fight and drove her sword into the ground, causing the room to shake. Chunks of rock began falling from the ceiling.
Regina looked back to her mother, Gold, and Henry, who were at the exit into the Labyrinth. Regina could easily get there before any damage was done to her, which didn't quite add up. Megaera's goal was to kill either Regina or Robin, and collapsing the throne room wasn't going to do either.
"Is this your plan to kill me?" Regina knew the best way to get information was to ask a seemingly stupid question.
Megaera laughed. "Of course not! This is my plan to kill Robin while you can't do anything." With a snap of the fury's fingers, Robin's cage was revealed to Regina and the others.
Regina heard footsteps running towards her, but her only focus was on her soulmate. "Robin!"
"Regina!" The thief's voice finally seemed to be working again.
A hand grabbed Regina's arm, and she turned around to see her mother. "Regina, we have to get out of here."
"No, I have to save Robin!" Regina wrenched out of Cora's grip.
Cora grabbed onto Regina's arm again. The cavern was going to collapse entirely soon. "We have to leave now! I am not losing my daughter, okay?"
"Well I'm not losing Robin!" Regina argued. "I can't!"
"You're going to die!"
"I don't care!"
From where his cage hung, Robin could tell both that he was about to fall to his death very soon and that Regina was also going to end up dead if her mother didn't get her to leave immediately. So Robin looked straight at Cora. "Get her out of here."
Cora nodded and began to practically drag Regina to the Labyrinth.
"NO!" Regina tried to escape her mother's grasp, but found that she couldn't. "ROBIN!"
Just as they arrived at the exit, Robin's cage fell. Regina caught a last glimpse of his face before they were back in the endless maze, and while she couldn't hear his voice very well, she could make out three words;
"I love you."
Cora pushed Regina into the hallway in front of her. Regina couldn't see much through the tears blurring her vision, but she was able to follow Henry and Gold down the endless hallways.
When they finally stopped in a room, Regina collapsed on the floor and allowed herself to cry. It was useless keeping the tears in and if she ever got out of the Underworld, what did it matter what Cora or Gold thought of her? Robin would still be gone either way.
