Chapter Four
The man walked in and sat on the chair in front of me without saying a work or even looking at me. I got a better look at him. He had pale skin which contrasted his dark, curly hair. My hair reflected his as mine was also black and curled. He looked rather sophisticated as he wore a suit under a long dark trench coat. His icy blue eyes looked similar to mine. They were cold and almost angry.
We sat in silence for a moment. None of us wanted to start the conversation. "I don't want to take you home by the way, in case you got the wrong idea." Sherlock said.
"And I don't want to come home with you, in case you got the wrong idea." I mocked. He chuckled. "What's so funny?"
"You sound like me."
"Isn't that a good thing?"
"It might be. Not in this case." My blood boiled. Who knew a man could be this annoying? "What was your name again?" Now my face had turned as red as my anger. He didn't even know my name. "Alice." He nodded then silence surrounded us once again.
"Can we just get this over and done with. The sooner I can go back to my room the better."
"Happily." Sherlock jumped out of the chair and rushed out of the room, leaving me there.
I walked quickly out of the room, passing him as he walked out of the office. "Alice." Miss S said. "Pack a bag dear. You're going with your dad now."
"Why?"
"Because he's your father and he's taking you to the police."
"Why?"
"They need to ask you a few questions." I gave an annoyed sigh and ran up the stairs to my room.
When I got to my room I fell onto my bed and put my hands to my head. Why did I have to go with him? From his first impression, I didn't think I'd like him that much. He was rude and heartless. I packed my bag full of all the things I had gathered from my house the day before then slowly walked downstairs.
When I became visible to the three adults, Jill my social worker had turned up, I heard an annoyed sigh from Sherlock. "Come on." He moaned. "I don't have all day." I felt the need to go slower just to annoy him but his constant moaning would have annoyed me instead.
Outside of the home, a cab was waiting for us. We stepped in and I prepared for a silent drive to the police. "I'm not trying to be nice when I say this but you would not have lasted there if I wasn't here." Sherlock said. How was that nice anyway?
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"The twins in the house with you. Both of them are drug addicts. One had noticable green in her fingernails. The other had an awful smokey smell on her and the same with the fingernails. You however have never had an experience with drugs."
"How do you know these things?"
"It's called deduction dear. I'm also very clever." There was a short period of silence before he broke it again. "We're going home first. Then we can go to Scotland Yard."
