Chapter XCI: Free

A few years back, I would have laughed at anyone coming up to me and telling me that my destiny was to be a vicious, courageous killer. Not because it was a funny idea but because I never expected my innocence to be tarnished by the blood of others. I had promised the guy I unintentionally fell in love with that I would have an open mind as long as I wasn't involved.

Other than my creative mind and my successful academic life, I was a soft-hearted girl. I was mercilessly kind to anyone who approached me, even if I wanted to be harsh, I still wouldn't be that violent like now.

Everyone around me was harshly breathing after the trauma passed and Mrs. Christina was angry at her husband for giving him the key that held the high importance of some sort to them.

Levy's jaw clenched and there was a haunted glint in his eyes. It was his known self-blame look he always had with pouty lips and furrowed eyebrows.

"This shouldn't have happened," Levy almost growled as he glared at his dad.

Mr. Clay laughed. We gaped at the wounded man like he had a third head and Mrs. Christina didn't look pleased with all.

"You actually thought I gave him the real key?" His dad asked rhetorically.

Levy and his mom were alike in one thing: their temper. If they didn't get what they wanted, they would throw a tantrum but I wouldn't love them in any other way.

"This isn't funny, Clay. There are dead innocent people and the whole hospital is deserted," Mrs. Christina seethed at her wicked husband for giving her a near heart attack.

"Why is the key so important?" I questioned Levy and his face changed to hesitancy as he struggled to answer me, then giving up at my pointed look.

"It has something that can end them and we have it. They will keep coming back until they get it," he answered with a rigid stance like he was expecting both gangs any time sooner. I wondered if they had grieved for their dead leaders or found a new guy to replace them.

I willed myself not to look at these dead people on the floor when Levy held my hand to guide me out of the cafeteria after discharging the webcams of the hospital.

"Come on, honey, it was just a way to distract them from blasting our brains out," poor Mr. Clay, he had to deal with a fretting wife. Mrs. Christina rolled her eyes at him and decided to ignore him as he limped behind her.

It was only a matter of seconds before the Cena and Abergil gangs find out that the key in their hands was fake and couldn't be used for their unknown target.

"We need to get out of here," Mrs. Christina sighed when she stated that our only escape would be to run away.

"Why don't you just blackmail them?" I asked and they all raised an eyebrow at me, I almost wanted to laugh at how similar they all were.

"They would kill us instantly if we blackmailed them," Levy responded. "We need to hide the key before they get their hands on it and destroy it," Levy looked deep in thought and my mind was thinking of how attractive he appeared to be, that or I was sleepy to think about anything else.

"How did you get the key? wasn't it supposed to be with Eve?" I asked, I was bewildered at the fact that I knew nothing. I ran my hands through my hair nervously and I was on full freak out mode.

"Babe, my dad got it because he knew that we were under a threat," he answered for his dad and kissed my forehead after. I exhaled as Levy wrapped his arms around me when Mrs. Christina and Mr. Clay were bickering about the key as we got in the car with the guards sitting behind us.

"I'm sorry you had to go through this, dear," Mrs. Christina broke the silence in the car but focused her eyes on the road since she was our driver.

"I'm used to it now," I replied to Mrs. Christina and she looked worried by my answer.

"It's my fault, mom, I should have said no to her from the beginning," Levy interjected and I felt hurt by his response.

"Even if you said no, I would still have gone, I even reserved a ticket without you knowing," I snapped and huffed at Levy making Mr. Clay laugh.

Levy looked down at me with amusement in his eyes. They all seemed to get a kick out of seeing me annoyed.

"I know a place for our hideout. They will never find us," Mr. Clay stated and gave the route to his wife.

The view ahead of us was pitch black indicating that midnight has passed and it was darker than ever. Thankfully, the beam of the car made it much safer. I had no idea where Mr. Clay would be taking us but I hoped it wasn't in a forest. It would bring bad memories to me.

"Love, from now on, you won't go with us to deal with Cena gang," I hated how Levy wouldn't let me be a part of necessary things. He underestimated me too many times but a part of me believed that it was. solely for my benefit. "The guards will stay with you and you will be safe," sadness showed in his amber eyes at the thought of leaving me and I felt like this was our goodbye somehow, that he would never be coming back.

"No, I can't. The thought of you never coming back, I can't handle it." I confessed with tears in my eyes, his arms went around mine and my hands automatically went around his neck, bending his lips down to mine.

We kissed like we weren't going to see each other anytime soon.
