Y/n's POV

I found myself in a dark void filled with nothing as I opened my eyes.

Y/n: Am I...dead?

I looked around, and there was nothing. However, a bright red light came towards me.

???: Y/n L/n...

Y/n: Who...are you? How do you know?

???: I'll tell you soon, but for now, it's time for you to save them. They are coming.

Y/n: Save them? Wait, who's coming?

???: You will see for yourself when you wake up. Prepare yourself and remember who you truly are.

Y/n: Hey, wait!

The light began to brighten. Then I woke up in what appeared to be a room. I was so confused about what that dream was all about. I looked around the room, wondering where I was, when I saw a door slide open with a woman entering. She appears to be wearing a uniform and has a blue bear in her pocket.

???: Ah, you are finally awake, Y/n.

Y/n: You know who I am?

???: Yes. I know you must have many questions, but this ship's commander, Ratatoskr, wants to explain.

Y/n: Commander? Ratatoskr? This is a lot to go through. Okay, can you please take me to them?

???: Very well. I'm Reine Murasame, Ratatoskr's analyst.

Y/n: *Nervously* It's nice to meet you.

I bowed down to show my respect.

Reine: *Laughs a bit* There's no need for formalities. We don't do that here.

Y/n: R-right.

We walked through the hallways as we finally reached the command room.

???: Y/n, you are finally awake.

I started to recognize that voice—it was Kotori. However, she looked different. She appeared to be wearing a uniform, and her white ribbons replaced black ones.

I was shocked but surprised at the same time.

Y/n: Kotori? Is that really you?

Kotori: What? You don't recognize me?

Y/n: You're acting different from the last time I saw you.

Kotori: You are as stupid as ever. Do you think I'm some innocent girl you know so much?

Y/n: ... I'm not even going to answer that.

???: Y/n!

I then saw Shido.

Y/n: Shido?! What are you doing here?

Shido: I'm as confused as you are! I was running to the shelter; the next thing I knew, I was here.

Kotori: Yes, yes. The family is back together again—also, Y/n.

Y/n: Yeah?

She punched me in the stomach so hard that I almost coughed out blood. I wasn't angry about it. I was just confused.

Y/n: Ooookay. What was that for?

Kotori: For going out there in the open! What were you thinking?!

Y/n: I had to rescue you.

Kotori: Please. Do you think I'm some damsel in distress when, in actuality, I know how to look after myself? *Snickers* How stupid are you?

Y/n: *Pouts* Oh, come on. Please don't insult me like that.

Kotori: Anywho, you might be wondering why you are here. For starters, you are in Fraxinus, the ship I command. Our purpose is for us to save Spirits.

Y/n: Spirits?

Kotori: Yes. You should also know two things: You are one of the spirits and the reincarnation of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Y/n: You mean that form I took was the body of Sonic?

Kotori: More or less, that form was made to fit you. We have been monitoring you since you first transformed into your hedgehog form. You are the first male spirit ever to appear.

Y/n: Okay... This is a lot to take in, but what does this have to do with me being here?

Reine: Because you have what it takes to save them.

I turned to Shido.

Y/n: Shido, are you a part of this?

Shido: I'm just as confused as you are.

Y/n: *Sighs* Okay. Anyways, do all of you believe that I have what it takes to save Spirits and be the successor to Sonic? I don't know if I have what it takes to do so. I'm...just an average teenager having a normal life.

Just then, Kotori throws a book at me.

Y/n: Ow!

Kotori: *Sighs* You are doubting yourself right now.

I turned away, not wanting to deal with this. However, Kotori did something unexpected: she hugged me.

Kotori: Don't ever think about that. You are unique, Y/n. Sure, you're a typical teenager, but inside you, you're the reincarnation of the Blue Blur. You can accomplish the impossible. Without you, Spirits will cause chaos in the city without their powers under control. Now put that in your thick head and answer this: Do you have what it takes, Y/n?

Taking what Kotori said, I think that part of me was scared, but deep down, I wanted to help the Spirits. That way, no one has to suffer or die.

Flashback

When the AST attacked us, trying to protect the girl, I noticed her face was sad when I told her to get out of there.

Present

I have a determined look, ready with my answer.

Y/n: *Deep breaths* Alright, if all of you believe I can do this, you can count on me.

Kotori breaks the hug. She then clicked her fingers with an arrogant smile on her face.

Kotori: That's the spirit. Welcome to Ratatoskr, Y/n. Kannasuki.

Kannasuki: Yes, commander?

Kotori: I want you to take Y/n to the training facilities.

Y/n: Training facilities? What kind of training am I doing?

A few minutes later, I was in a training facility, sitting in a chair with a computer in front of me. The laptop opened with "My Little Shido" on the screen. I started the game and tried to get used to it.

3rd POV

Shido and Kotori are seen observing the training.

Shido: Are you sure he's up for it?

Kotori: I am confident about him. I explained to him that saving the Spirits means sealing their powers with a kiss.

Shido: That sounds kinda logical.

Kotori: I'm sure you'll get used to it. Although I have to say that he's shy when it comes to girls, he is willing to do it. That is what makes him unique.

Shido: I hope you're right.

Meanwhile

The same girl that Y/n met is sleeping in an unknown location and thinks to herself.

???: Why would he save me from them? I might meet him again when I have the chance. Why is my heart beating so fast?

She blushed when a thought of Y/n was in her head.
