— mention of chogikids (original characters)
Who knew that four hours would turn to years in just a blink of an eye?
The married couple settled down on the sofa in the living room, cuddling while watching their favorite noontime show. However, even with their eyes being glued on the screen, their attention was on each other as they squirmed on the sofa. Hugging was not enough, it seems. It's like they wanted to be in each other's skin at this point.
"Mark, it tickles." Donghyuck giggled when his husband planted soft kisses on his neck.
"Happy Valentine's, Sunshine." Mark trailed his kisses to his lover's neck, cheek, and settled a long one on his husband's lips.
Cupping the man's face, Donghyuck gave him an affectionate smile. "Happy Valentine's, Love."
However, their intimacy had to be cut short when a certain boy barged the door open without knocking.
It startled the couple on the sofa, making them sit up straight only to heave out a sigh of relief when they saw who it was. Their friend's son came to pay a visit. Safe to say, this boy had Chenle's manners while looking like an exact carbon copy of a certain Park.
It piqued their curiosity seeing their friend's son paying a visit on a random February. He usually doesn't come unless his parents tell him to. Well, they also know why this boy won't visit without his parents around despite being close friends with their son. It mainly has something to do with Donghyuck and Mark's son being obsessed with this tall boy over here.
"Park Jiro, what did Chenle ask you to do this time?" Standing up, Donghyuck turned their noontime show off as he cleaned the chips on the coffee table.
"Oh... Pa didn't tell me to do anything." He awkwardly answered the man's question. "Nice to see you again."
"Wait, he didn't tell you to come?" Mark asked while still lazing on the sofa, raising a brow at the boy who's still standing at the front door.
"He didn't." Rubbing his nape timidly, Jiro had the urge to just leave. He didn't know he was going to meet his friend's parents in the living room. "Sorry for barging in like that, it was rude of me. I just thought that Chan is—"
"Mine!"
"The troublemaker is finally awake." Donghyuck sighed as he made his way to the kitchen.
Being left in the living room, Mark felt the need to stand up and take his son away from sticking to the tall boy who looked annoyed. "Lee Chan, you're making him uncomfortable."
Their seventeen-year-old son, who quickly got down from his room and ran straight to this guy's arms, showed a pout and began to throw tantrums. "I'm not! I have every right to be close to him. He's my boyfriend!"
The mention of a relationship caused Donghyuck to come out from the kitchen despite being in the middle of preparing their meal. He had his arms folded across his chest and a glare darting at the two youngsters who looked intimidated by his presence.
Mark, who didn't want to meddle with his husband's temper, raised his hands up in a defeated manner and took a step away from the two boys.
Jiro gulped at the sight of his friend's father looking like he was about to throw hands. To think that his Chinese dad was scary enough. This is like seeing another variant.
He knew he had to quickly clear the misunderstanding between them. "Rin Nakamoto signed me up at that stupid dating booth and Chan, here, rented me for four hours!"
"So you are not his boyfriend?" Donghyuck questioned with a warning tone.
"He is!" Chan insisted, gathering the courage to be brave enough in dealing with his angry father.
"Only for four hours!" Jiro was frantically shaking his hands to highlight his disclaimer. "I'll just be his date for Valentine's, I'm not his boyfriend."
"Yet!" Chan quickly continued that statement.
Nakamoto? Mark slapped his palm to his forehead with the realization. Some things really never change. This certain tradition just had to be passed down to their next generation. "Love, let them be. I'll talk to Yuta about this."
With the other father defending them and taking all the responsibility, both Chan and Jiro nodded their heads aggressively in agreement.
Donghyuck let out a sigh. "Chan, you're not supposed to leave the house. We talked about this and you promised to clean your room today."
A frown made its way to their son's lips, devastated at the fact that he couldn't do what he had already planned to do with this friend of his. Because of the excitement he had for today's occasion, he completely forgot that he made a deal with his father that if he cleans his room, they are going to prolong his curfew at night.
However, if he argues with him now, Chan might lose that midnight curfew and also not be able to spend Valentine's with the person he has feelings for.
This was the only way he could think in order to hit two birds with one stone. "That's exactly why I rented Jiro!"
That sudden confession caused both his parents and Jiro to look at him with a puzzled expression. It sounded like an alibi and it definitely wasn't the true purpose, but knowing how unexpected Chan is, it wasn't impossible that it was his idea from the beginning.
"Damn, that's such a smart move." Whether it was an alibi or not, Mark thanked the heavens above that he wasn't rented before to clean a room.
"What weird shit—" Clearing his throat, Jiro immediately reminded himself that there were adults in the room. "What are you up to now?"
"You heard that right. You're going to help me clean my room!" Hugging his arm, Chan had his eyes glistened at him, showing his puppy eyes.
Donghyuck knew more than to get fooled by his son's crazy antics. "You can't fool me, young man. Let Jiro go."
"Let Jiro go clean my room? On it!" Chan played with his father's words, giving him a sheepish smile after. "You heard him, Ji! Let's start cleaning. Chop, chop!"
Getting away from his father's nags, Chan took his guest's hand and dragged him along to the stairs as they made their way up to his room. Upon twisting the door knob to his room, his sister came out of her own room that was next to him. The three of them looked at each other with the girl having her brows furrowed in a confused manner. Chan didn't bother explaining to her his situation and pushed Jiro inside his room before following and locking the door.
The moment that the two of them settled inside the room, Jiro's nose scrunched at how this boy's father wasn't exaggerating in desperately wanting for his bedroom to be cleaned.
Whereas Chan, on the other hand, had to breathe out the air that he had been holding in. "Okay, this is the plan! I'll throw my mess at one corner and we can go out after it."
Jiro slowly walked towards the boy who's blabbering by the door.
"Should we watch a movie together? How about going out of town? We can take the bus!" Chan let out a gasp of excitement with another idea in mind. "How about camping? I heard there will be a fireworks display— Jiro?"
Towering over him, Jiro placed a hand on the door to support himself and also prevent the boy from leaving as he was going to interrogate him. "Did you actually bring me here to just clean your room?"
"Wha... What are you talking about?" Chan gulped, nowhere else to move as his back was already glued on to the door.
"We have four hours, Chan." Jiro knew the effect he had towards the younger one and he's definitely taking advantage of that. However, he knew his limits and will definitely not go beyond the boundaries of respect. Jiro was just in the mood to tease the boy.
"Hey..." Looking down with his flushed cheeks, Chan had his lips pouted and fumbled with his fingers feeling embarrassed. "My parents are downstairs. You can ask permission from them if you... Want to do something."
Jiro looked at him with his eyes widened before bursting into laughter. He had to rest his head down to the boy's shoulder as he continued to crack up. "Fucking cute."
Chan snapped back to his senses and lightly punched the male on his chest. He didn't know whether to get mad at that harmless joke or be a blushing mess at how he was called cute by the person he had feelings for.
Lifting his head up, Jiro gave the boy a small smile, their faces being an inch close which caused the other one to redden up at the distance. The only thing Jiro got distracted was Chan parting his lips and hearing him breathing softly.
Coughing to clear his throat, Jiro pushed himself away and began to pick up whatever was on the floor. "Come on, let's start cleaning so we can go out."
Taking his mind off the situation from seconds ago, Chan took excited steps as he followed the taller boy from behind. "We will watch movies?"
"Yes."
"We'll go out of town?!"
"Yes, Chan. I'll ask your parents later."
"Jiro!" Chan stood in front of him with a bright smile. "We'll go camping and watch the fireworks?"
Jiro stood there with his calm gaze on the shorter male. His excitement was contagious, making Jiro also look forward to their day. "Yes, Boo, we'll do all those."
"They're just cleaning the room, right?"
Mark looked up from being in the middle of washing dishes, he turned to look at his lover who's biting his nails from being anxious. "Love, do you want me to check up on them?"
"No, don't. Chan hates it if we meddle with his privacy." However, Donghyuck can't help but be too overprotective. He might want to have a talk with Chenle regarding their sons' future after this.
"Jiro is a decent kid, Sunshine." Mark placed the washed plates on the counter before rubbing his hands with a dry towel and going to his husband to comfort him. "In fact, we should be worried for him. Chan is too direct."
He was right, Donghyuck couldn't agree more with what his lover said. Though he admired how confident his son is, his concern was how it might get out of hand sometimes. Especially when Donghyuck is aware that his son is with the person he has a crush on.
"Sunshine, it's okay." Mark reassured his husband, placing soft pecks on his lover's cheeks and lips. "It's Valentine's, let's leave them be just for today."
"Love, what if they are actually together?" Donghyuck looked at him with a worried gaze. "Metaphorically."
"Gosh." Mark couldn't help but laugh at how that word brought him down to his memory lane. "You're making me want to also rent you."
Donghyuck threw his arms over his lover's shoulders with a mischievous grin. "Like you said, it's Valentine's. Do what you want to do, Love."
"Oh, I'll definitely do it with that consent." Mark chuckled, leaning forward for a kiss that he has been craving for ever since their moment was cut off a while ago.
Which their moment will once again be cut off. "Excuse moi? Rooms are invented for a reason!"
A female's voice caught the couple's attention, making them snap their heads towards the doorway separating the kitchen and the living room. A girl, who's a couple of months younger than their son, stood there with a look of disgust. She was judging her parents with her whole being.
"Dahyun, this is how you were made." Mark just had to make that inappropriate joke to their daughter.
Donghyuck smacked him for it, being the one wanting to keep their kids' innocence. "Mark Lee!"
Seeing her parents beginning to argue made the girl shake her head in disappointment before getting a glass of water and leaving the kitchen. "Adults."
"Dahyun, get home before dinner if you'll go out!" Donghyuck shouted, reminding himself to also tell that to his son.
"I'm spending Valentine's day rotting in bed!" Their daughter screamed back.
"How about us?" Mark asked the moment they were left alone in the kitchen. "Do you want to go out and spend Valentine's day together?"
"Love, we only have around four hours left till we start preparing for dinner." Donghyuck told him, but deep down, he wasn't hating the idea of going out.
Mark smiled at the coincidence. "Four hours is more than enough."
🌈
The both of them went out and visited places that the two of them went during the first time they spent Valentine's day together. The very day when their feelings towards each other started to grow. Definitely, love was indeed in the air that day. They first spent the hour going to a specific bakery to make a cake. The both of them met old friends there and also decided to catch up. Afterwards, they went out to visit the arcade where they first had their fun. They were never too old to play the games there.
Donghyuck even improved his shooting skills.
"Love, let's go there before we leave!" Donghyuck pointed to a certain booth that he found familiar as they were now at an amusement park.
The last place they decided to pay a visit was the amusement park that was still as lively as before. It's still crowded as before. However, due to age reasons, the couple agreed not to try any rides this time around and played the booths that they found interesting instead.
Mark admired his husband who's jumping in excitement with a cotton candy on his hand. He can never say no to this cutie. "Let's go then."
Upon making their way to the booth, a young man stood up from the chair after resting for quite a while and put up his customer-service-smile to entertain them. Mark and Donghyuck greeted him back, wondering where the previous owner was.
"Do you know the old man that hosted this booth?" Donghyuck had to ask, worry visible in the tone of his voice.
Luckily, the young man reassured them. "Grandpa is resting. He knew that a lot of couples would come today so he asked me to manage the booth for him."
"Thank god." Donghyuck heaved out a relieved sigh while placing a hand on his chest. He then managed to put up a bright smile back. "I'll buy one round."
Mark scanned the stuffed toys that were on display before finding one that caught his interest. "Love, I think that deer will be a good company for Mork."
Getting the loaded gun (fake), Donghyuck smirked as he felt determined to get that certain stuffed toy for him. "I told you before, I'm good at shooting."
No, he's just competitive. Mark remembered it all too well. He let out a chuckle at how irresistibly adorable his husband is. He can't exaggerate it more, but he's grateful to have hit the jackpot. Who knew, the person he hated for ruining his date is also the same person that ended up giving him the best date he could ever experience. It is also the same person he ended up loving.
The young man, who handled the booth, stared at the other man that's admiring his husband that's failing adorably in shooting for the cup. Since he was bored, he decided to ask an innocent question. "So, how long have you two been boyfriend's for?"
Boyfriends? That flattered Mark to know that they still look young.
"We are already married." However, Mark can't help but feel the need to correct the host and point out that he and Donghyuck are now happily together.
— thank you.
