⠀⠀⤷ relationships

( FAMILY! )

HECATE

━ Godess of magic, Mist, crossroads, necromancy, ghosts, night, and the moon. Also known as the Dark Lady and the Queen of Witches.

━ Esmerelda's mother. At the start of the series, Esmerelda doesn't even realized that her godly parent is a goddess and not a god, and only finds out the truth after Hecate claims her in front of the whole camp two years after she arrives. Despite the rocky start, Esmerelda reveres her mother and dutifully follows her orders to attend Hogwarts and study as many combative spells as she can (unaware that Hecate is priming her to be the best host for Kronos).

━ The respect she holds for Hecate disappears after she coaxes a good majority of her kids to join the Titan Army and to fight for her. Because Esmerelda knows Kronos isn't to be trusted (one of the few times she's being smart), she refuses to join and is ultimately left by her family, worsening her abandonment issues.

━ Things don't get better in book three, Aporia, when Ethan reveals to her that the only reason Hecate broke her oath and had her in the first place was so she could be given away to Kronos as a peace offering, an apology for betraying the Titans back in the first Titanomachy, and a host body for him to use.

━ In book four, Eudaimonia, their relationship hits an all time low when the rest of her half-siblings are killed during the explosion of the Princess Andromeda. Their deaths affected both of them in different ways. While Hecate was hit with grief and a desperation to protect the very few kids she had left, Esmerelda is unable to hold in her hate and explodes on her mother when she tries to keep her from dooming her future. Despite this, Hecate still tries to do better and saves Esmerelda and Ethan after they fall from Olympus.

━ Their relationship slowly mends itself after the Second Titan War. Hecate becomes more protective over her kids and watches them (like a stalker) back in her palace in the Underworld. It gets to the point where Hecate becomes doting, even going so far as to let Alabaster keep Dr. Claymore as a Mistform companion and sending Esmerelda and Étienne recommendation letters in order to give them higher privileges. Esmerelda recognizes how much Hecate is trying and is slowly beginning to tolerate having her for a mother. She hasn't forgiven her for everything and might never, but she appreciates her mother's attempts.

REGULUS BLACK

━ Lord of the House of Black. Esmerelda's father who used to be dead, but came back to life through the Doors of Death.

━ It takes Esmerelda a whole two books to find out who her real father is since Regulus had Kreacher send her to stay with Sirius after his death. After her discovery, she only knows him as a deceased Death Eater but she doesn't complain about it since her family's already super fucked up anyways 💀

━ After she first dreams of him in the Underworld and accidentally becomes an employee under Hades, she meets him in his designated torture zone over at the Fields of Punishment. Even though she vows to avoid him, she ends up meeting him again shortly after. Despite the fact that Regulus scares her during their first meeting, she quickly looks up to him and is blind to all the red flags he gives off.

━ Due to Esmerelda's naïve nature, she continues to be completely oblivious to the sort of person her father really is and is always quick to come to his defense when people talk poorly about him (ie. Remus and Sirius). They have a very close relationship despite the fact that he's stuck in the Underworld while she still belongs amongst the living. Esmerelda is always eager to please him and chat about her everyday life since that's what normal families do, and she's desperate to replicate that.

━ She loves her father so much that she was even willing to switch places with him after she dies, which could've resulted in her living an eternity in the Fields of Punishment. Thankfully, Hades and Hecate put a stop to it, and she's able to bring the two of them back to life.

━ She only finds out about how disturbed her father really is in Moros. Shortly after she brings him back to life, Regulus finally snaps and forcefully searches through her memories (and I write 'forcefully' because he was never giving her a choice in the first place). But despite all that, Esmerelda still continues to cling on to him and even willingly turns to a blind eye to what he's done. She never gets angry at him for the things he does and doesn't understand why people are so concerned for her.

SIRIUS BLACK

━ Exonerated Azkaban-escapee and member of the Order of the Phoenix. Esmerelda's uncle.

━ Sirius becomes Esmerelda's unprepared guardian after his brother's death, just shortly before he is framed. He had never once raised a child before and barely even knew how to raise himself, but he tries his best to raise Esmerelda even though he whole-heartedly believes she is the Antichrist. He even protects her identity, knowing that she would be put in danger if people find out who her real father is, so he claims to be her father instead to keep her safe (unaware that it was going to backfire since he would later be accused of being a mass-murdering Death Eater).

━ He soon warms up to her though as she does the same to him (and by that, I mean baby!Essie stopped having murderous temper tantrums every time he made a mistake). Sirius becomes even more protective over her when he realizes Regulus has been telling the truth about her other parentage. He becomes paranoid over the constant monster attacks and even starts to become distrustful towards Remus after he attempts to kill her during a full moon.

━ Unfortunately, Sirius is framed by Peter Pettigrew and is taken away to Azkaban, leaving Esmerelda without a guardian. They reunite years later in Aporia, and Esmerelda is already well-aware of him being her uncle and not her father. After finding out that he isn't an evil Death Eater, she's quick to latch on to him because at this point, she had already lost so many of her other loved ones and becomes desperate to keep Sirius with her.

━ There are times where Sirius acts more like the child than the guardian, especially since Esmerelda frets over him so much. He never had any qualms about it, enjoying the luxurious lifestyle and the freedom she granted him, and in turn, gave her a lot of freedom as well. He rarely scolds her for anything and even encourages any reckless ideas she has. It isn't until the Second Titan War hits does he really become serious, especially over her wellbeing.

━ Unfortunately, Esmerelda is much too overprotective to listen to his demands at this point and uses her charmspeak to forcefully make him leave the country. Sometime during the war, Sirius discovers that Esmerelda broke into St. Mungo's to murder Barty Crouch Jr who was already incapacitated after getting Kissed by a dementor. He's understandably horrified of her actions and starts to wonder if Esmerelda was going too far, and realizes that he shouldn't have been so lax with her throughout the years, believing that maybe he could've prevented all of this.

━ Sirius becomes extremely concerned, fearing that she would be going down the wrong path and seeing the similarities between her and Regulus. Esmerelda doesn't understand his concerns or the severity of the situation, which results in them falling out in Moros. For a majority of the book, they either argue or avoid each other, unwilling to see things in the other's perspective and only forgiving each other when it was too late (Esmerelda's death).

━ After the resurrection of his brother and realizing that he became worse, he becomes silently more concerned over Esmerelda's wellbeing, being fully aware that Esmerelda's naïvety and Regulus' manipulative and controlling nature made for a bad combination. As much as he wants to step in and do the right thing, he's too scared and psychologically beaten down after everything that's happened to him.

━ It doesn't help that certain characters (Regulus and Ethan) are constantly silencing him every time he tries to warn her about them...

LOU ELLEN BLACKSTONE

━ Daughter of Hecate and Esmerelda's younger half-sister.

━ Esmerelda and Lou Ellen first meet in book two, Proairesiss. Chiron temporarily takes her out of Hogwarts and sends her, Connor, and Travis to a mission in Bloomington, Minnesota in order to save Basil and retrieve Lou Ellen. Even though they don't know each other, Esmerelda is desperate to save her since they're siblings.

━ While Esmerelda remains calm throughout the rescue mission, she quickly becomes anxious once she finally meets Lou Ellen, fearing that she wouldn't be a good enough sister or mentor since she isn't used to being in charge of someone else. Regardless of that, Lou Ellen was ecstatic to have a sister to teach her magic, not noticing Esmerelda's growing insecurities.

━ Lou Ellen's presence made Esmerelda insecure, feeling as if she wouldn't be a good enough sister and it made her constantly compare herself to Alabaster since she believes that he would've been a better sibling and mentor towards Lou Ellen. However, she soon becomes comfortable with teaching her, and it also helps that Lou Ellen's extremely chill and never had anything to complain about Esmerelda's teachings.

━ However, helping Lou Ellen grow accustom to the demigod life also helped Esmerelda become more nurturing and caring since it was her first time looking after someone after spending most of life being the one cared for instead. Esmerelda quickly gets used to taking care of her and becomes a very doting older sister, always supporting and spoiling her.

━ In return, Lou Ellen looks up to her older sister a lot and is also very supportive of her like when Esmerelda got together with Ethan, a well-known traitor and Kronos' right-hand man. She is also slightly protective over her since she could be such a hot mess most of the times. She always has her sister's back, which can be seen when she attacks Alabaster during the Battle of Manhattan in order to save her life.

━ All in all, her relationship with Lou Ellen is the most healthiest one she has.

ALABASTER C. TORRINGTON

━ Son of Hecate, traitor to Olympus, and the leader of Kronos' demigod army. He is Esmerelda's older half-brother.

━ In Aletheia, Esmerelda has a very close relationship with Alabaster even before she finds out that they're half-siblings since they stayed in the Hermes cabin together. Alabaster always had the suspicions that she was his sister since the signs were so obvious, but kept quiet since he couldn't understand why their mother was taking so long to claim her.

━ They become closer once she is claimed and Alabaster is known to constantly dote and spoil her (as he does with all his siblings). He also teases her a lot like all brothers do with their little sisters. The topic he teases her the most is about her growing relationship with Ethan (making him the first Essan shipper, by the way 😍).

━ Their close relationship breaks off when Alabaster manages to convince their siblings to join the Titan Army, but fails to recruit her. They have an argument with Esmerelda screaming at him that he would be leading their siblings to their deaths (which later turns out to be true).

━ The loss of Alabaster makes her grow more anxious, depressed, and insecure, often feeling like she could never be as good as him since he's the eldest and most powerful out of all the Hecate kids. She constantly compares herself to him, believing that she could never be as strong or as good of a sibling as he is. In book two, Proairesis, Esmerelda's despair furthers when Alabaster doesn't say anything against Ethan's harsh kidnapping methods and even goes as far as to lock her up in the Princess Andromeda.

━ Alabaster still cares for her at this point, but doesn't hesitate to emotionally and psychologically abuse her through threats, gaslighting, passive-aggressiveness, dishonesty, and isolation, though he justifies it by saying it's 'for her own good'. He's overprotective over all of his siblings, but constantly tries to lock Esmerelda up or kidnap her. He even stalks her to the point that he's memorized her home address (which he gives up to Ethan in Eudaimonia).

━ In Aporia, he works together with Ethan to save her from the fate of being Kronos' host, willingly choosing to kill Luke instead. This is the one time he disobeys Hecate and the Titan Army. At the end, he even frees her from her binds at Antaeus' Arena.

━ Things take a turn for the worst in Eudaimonia when Alabaster witnesses the deaths of their siblings. He falls into grief, and then rage shortly after. When he discovers that Esmerelda was the one who fed information that led to the explosion of the Princess Andromeda, he becomes blinded by his rage and goes so far as to attempt to brutally murder her on Olympus.

━ However, deep down he knows she isn't to blame for their deaths. Instead, he sees it as his fault since he was the one who persuaded them to follow him to the Titan Army. He couldn't handle the amount of guilt, which was why he originally placed it all on her. Despite that, he struggles to truly hate her and his true feelings are revealed only after her death.

━ Regardless of how he feels, his actions are permanently implanted in Esmerelda's memories, so much that he is the source of a majority of her nightmares. She is unable to wear high-collared necklines or even necklaces since it reminds her too much of when Alabaster strangled her and the very mention of his name makes her stiffen in fear. It's much too late for either of them to make amends... or is it?

NICO DI ANGELO

━ Son of Hades and Maria di Angelo, Esmerelda's previous identity in her past life.

━ Esmerelda had been entirely clueless of his existence until he meets her in Proairesis. His and Bianca's arrivals gave her vague feelings of familiarity and short glimpses of memories of her past life, but she is unaware of what they mean. Instead, she pushes them aside and focuses on giving him a warm welcome, especially since his sister just recently became a Hunter of Artemis.

━ Esmerelda is extremely doting towards him and constantly spoiled him with sweets while gushing about his cuteness. She even has photo albums dedicated to just pictures of him and it's a miracle that she never once realizes who Nico and Bianca are to her.

━ During his stay at camp, Nico is known to be a bit of an overly excitable nuisance to the other campers, and they just couldn't keep up with his hyper behavior or his obsession with Mythomagic. Esmerelda is one of the only few people who genuinely enjoys his company and goes along with his Mythomagic duels (even memorizing attack points and weaknesses).

━ Esmerelda is greatly affected by Bianca's death but doesn't understand since the two barely spoke to each other. Nevertheless, she pushes the dream aside since she's busy being... you know... kidnapped and all that. She does keep Nico on her mind and becomes devastated when he runs away. Like with Annabeth, Percy, and Grover, she chooses to keep his godly parent a secret in order to keep him safe.

━ They see each other again in Aporia, though Nico is a much different person than he was before. Fortunately, he still has an evident soft spot for Esmerelda and doesn't get annoyed when she mothers over him. She cares about him so much to even defy her father's orders to focus only on her own safety, and follows after Nico into the Labyrinth even though she had a terrible feeling about it.

━ While they're both still extremely clueless about who they are to each other, they continue to cling onto each other anyways and Nico becomes more and more comfortable around her caring presence, even going so far as to trust her with his sexuality. This is a big feat since Nico was raised during a time where being gay was highly unaccepted and could even get you killed since Hitler (who occupied Italy when Nico was still young) was also targeting homosexual individuals.

━ When it's finally FINALLY revealed that Esmerelda is the reincarnation of Maria di Angelo and she begins to gain her old memories back, the two of them become even more closer than before. Esmerelda's tendency to dote and mother over him increase tenfold and Nico becomes... well, an official mamma's boy. She adores him so much that she turns a blind eye to any of his wrongdoings which includes numerous murder attempts against Ethan, lying to get Ethan in trouble, crashing their dates, etc.

ÉTIENNE ROSIER

━ Son of Trivia, Esmerelda's younger Roman half-brother and a distant cousin from her father's side.

━ Esmerelda befriends him in book four, Eudaimonia, when his school, Beauxbatons, visits Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament. She first meets him a little earlier than that in the Quidditch World Cup since they were sitting at the top row with all the other wealthier guests. She notices the way his father blatantly brags about him while the rest of his family purposely avoided him.

━ They see each other again in Hogwarts and Esmerelda comes to his defense when Draco verbally attacks him for being a half-blood in a pureblood family and for being the product of an infamous affair. Étienne quickly latches on to her after that, but she pays no mind to it and forms a close friendship with him (and no, he did NOT have a crush on her. I can't believe I had to clarify that 😭 I still get Étienne x Essie shippers even after the sibling reveal).

━ Esmerelda first saw him as a timid, shy, and sensitive young boy who was in need of protecting, completely unaware that he was hiding something far more sinister behind his innocent façade. All the red flags go completely over her head, and she mistakes Bernadine's aversion of him to be because of hate when in actuality, Bernadine is terrified of him.

━ When she starts to become suspicious of him being a demigod, or more importantly, a potential child of Hecate, her overprotectiveness increases. She withholds the information from him in order to keep him safe, knowing that once he knew the truth of his heritage, his life would forever change. His scent would increase too and he would begin to attract more monsters. Even worse, she would have to take him to Camp Half-Blood in the middle of the war where he would be cannon fodder due to being so new and unprepared. Unwilling to make him go through that, she chooses to tell him the truth after the war if she ever makes it out alive.

━ The thought of Étienne being a Roman demigod and not a Greek one never crossed her mind since in her perspective, there was no such thing as a Roman demigod. She only finds out the truth later on at the Malfoy's New Years Eve Party and simultaneously finds out his real unstable nature. But rather than staying away from him, she is only mildly disturbed and keeps her relationship with him instead.

━ While the the realization that Étienne psychologically abused and terrorized his family horrified her, it doesn't deter her from caring about him immensely as she was far too desperate to keep whatever is left of her family safe and happy.

━ Esmerelda is neither afraid or unaccepting of his behavior, only stepping in when he goes too far (like when he charmspoke Theo Nott to stop breathing). She still continues to coddle him which only worsens his clinginess. She doesn't try to change him for the better either, knowing it would be fruitless and knowing that she could handle him regardless.

━ She isn't even shocked when she finds out that he murdered his whole family (save for Maxence). She's only disappointed, but other than that, doesn't even scold him when they see each other again in Camp Jupiter 💖

━ Étienne becomes extremely overprotective and clingy at that point. He constantly protects her from Octavian's creepiness and attempts to murder her boyfriend Ethan due to taking away her attention. Nico is the only spared from his rage since he's Esmerelda's son, making him Étienne's nephew and family.

DRACO MALFOY

━ A classmate from Hogwarts who attends the same year as her. He's also Esmerelda's cousin.

━ In the earlier books, Draco sometimes bullies her for being a half-blood and for using muggle things like pens, notebooks, and muggle clothes. His attempts of bullying are harmless though, and Esmerelda doesn't really become genuinely hurt by it since his bullying methods are elementary school at best.

━ (Draco doesn't bully her as often as he antagonizes Harry and his friends. Had he done that, she would've dealt with him a lot more earlier, so he got off lucky.)

━ Draco is disgusted and horrified upon learning that she is Sirius Black's daughter, making the two of them cousins (and even though the wizarding world got the wrong Black brother, Esmerelda is still Draco's cousin regardless of which Black brother is her father). He doesn't even care that Sirius is a known mass-murderer, his biggest issue is that he's related to a half-blood muggle-lover which shows where his priorities are 💀

━ While Draco is disgusted by it, Esmerelda uses their new familial relations to (harmlessly) mess with him. She purposely calls him her 'cousin' and gives him affection in public because she knows he finds it embarrassing. She just enjoys teasing him all the time, much like actual cousins would do.

━ Slowly, Esmerelda begins to accept the Draco. Her affection becomes a little more genuine, she no longer calls him 'cousin' to mess with him, but because she honestly starts to see him as family, and she's more kinder to him too. She even goes so far as to save him from a drunk wizard during the attack at the Quidditch World Cup, scolding his parents for leaving him alone.

━ Draco starts to become closer to her after being rescued as well, begrudgingly coming to her defense when Barty Crouch Snr accuses her of setting off the Dark Mark and genuinely fretting over her after the fake Moody's many... MANY failed assassination attempts 😭 In fact, he is the only person who is continuously worried for her safety and constantly warns her to watch out for herself more.

━ Draco and Esmerelda have a funny relationship. Draco's like a bratty little brother who's sometimes protective over his older sister whereas Esmerelda acts like a mix between a sister and a mother.

━ Draco becomes slightly more protective over her in Moros, which is when the wizarding world relentlessly bullies her and Harry. Draco knows very well that the rumors aren't true and constantly defends her against his own friends (or Pureblood connections) and even Professor Umbridge, who he respects because of her blood purist beliefs and her cruel treatment towards Harry.

━ Draco's loyalty is challenged later on when Kreacher visits the Malfoy Manor to give them news about the Order and Sirius. His parents tell him to keep it a secret to Esmerelda and while he promises to, he's clearly very hesitant and guilty about it. When their fifth year begins, he behaves oddly nice to her, and Esmerelda notes how anxious he seems but never questions it. He even helps and allows her to use him as a test dummy for her newly made spell.

━ Just before the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, Draco attempts to discreetly warn her of Voldemort's plans. He tells her, almost pleadingly, to stop getting so attached to Harry and to not get involved with whatever danger he puts himself into. However, he never fully explains what he's talking about so his warning comes off as vague and confusing, especially to someone without braincells (*cough* Esmerelda *cough*).

━ When news comes of her death, he is one of the few wizards who is genuinely distraught. He feels immense guilt over her death, feeling as if it was his fault for it since he could've told her the truth and saved her.

( ROMANTIC! )

ETHAN NAKAMURA

━ Son of Nemesis, traitor to Olympus, and Esmerelda's horny yandere simp boyfriend.

━ Ethan is first introduced in the second chapter of Aletheia and also meets Esmerelda in the same chapter. While trying to reach camp borders, a hellhound tackles her down and nearly mauls her to death until Ethan saves her life and drags her to the safety of camp.

━ They start off kind of rocky, with Ethan seeing her as a mild annoyance and Esmerelda seeing him as a bit mean. However, they get closer when she begins to feel abandoned by her godly parent and the fact she had yet to get claimed. They soon become best friends, constantly hanging out with each other with Ethan teasing her for her wimpy and soft nature.

━ Esmerelda is unaware of his plans of defecting from the camp to join the enemy army, only growing a little suspicious from time to time but never thinking further of it in fear that she could actually be right. Unfortunately, at the end of the first book, Ethan finally confesses to wanting to leave camp and begs her to join him, but she refuses, heartbroken not only because he was leaving her, but because he was also aware that her siblings were leaving to and said nothing while she grieved.

━ Their friendship chips some more in book two when he decides to kidnap her from Hogwarts out of desperation to have her with him again. Throughout their journey, she struggles with her growing feelings for him. Despite all the horrible things he had done, she is unable to truly hate him because she knows that he's not doing any of this to be hurt her. Things get more complicated when he saves her in the end, freeing her from her prison in the Princess Andromeda.

━ They meet in the Labyrinth in Aporia. Once again, Ethan is risking his life to save her and is the one to tell her the real reason Hecate broke her oath. While Esmerelda's greatest concern at the time was Nico, she is grateful to see Ethan again and is glad that he's alright (despite... you know. Missing an eye and all). They also kiss for the first time in the Labyrinth.

━ Anyways, it's around this time Esmerelda finds out that she's actually really in love with him, which is a terrible thing since they're on the opposite sides of a war. The realization brings her to despair, knowing that only one of them would make it out alive at the end of the war. It also makes her even more desperate than before to make him see reason that Kronos couldn't be trusted.

━ In Eudaimonia, their relationship turns more romantic when he breaks into her house and kisses her again (but not after displaying a bout of jealousy toward Cormac McLaggan and maybe or maybe not giving him some bad luck during their Yule Ball 😂). During this book, Esmerelda throws herself into war efforts, concentrating more on the war and less on Ethan until they see each other again during the battlefield.

━ At the very, VERY end of the war, they FINALLY get together (sorry for taking so long to decide) and help Percy, Annabeth, and Grover defeat Kronos. After so many years of anguish and losing loved ones, Esmerelda's just grateful that she was able to save Ethan before he could go too.

━ Even though their relationship could seem cute to outsiders, it's actually extremely dark. Esmerelda has a very rosy view of the people she loves, and Ethan's no different. While she's not blind to all his many... many faults, she enables him rather than trying to get him to stop. She's not bothered by his tendency to get jealous, his possessiveness, or his overprotectiveness.

━ She is also completely blind to his attempts of manipulation or how he's constantly trying to destroy her relationship with Sirius, dismissing it as him being overprotective (and while that's true, she's unaware of the extent he's willing to go).

━ After her death in Moros, Ethan becomes even more intense with how he shows his love, but Esmerelda, as always, doesn't care for it and embraces it instead. She no longer fights with him, disagrees with his methods, or even scolds him for any of the serious things he's done. She is 100% accepting of him, too desperate for a happy ending to see how wrong everything is or to save herself.

( FRIENDS! )

THE STOLL BROTHERS

━ Sons of Hermes, Esmerelda's best friends and previous cabin-mates.

━ Travis and Connor Stoll are the very first friends Esmerelda makes (along with Basil of course). Their friendship develops really quickly, since they first meet after saving her from getting killed by the Chimera early on in the series. For about a week or so, they travel from North Carolina to New York in order to reach Camp Half-Blood (I forgot how long their journey was 💀) and throughout their 'road trip', they bonded more.

━ They become cabin mates after reaching Camp Half-Blood and Esmerelda spends a majority of her life living with them in Cabin Eleven, which makes them grow closer. Esmerelda is one of the only few people they don't prank as often and when they do choose to prank her, their pranks are more harmless and less anger-inducing, and the same goes with stealing.

━ Esmerelda isn't really the type to play pranks, but she has committed crimes such as thievery and grand theft auto, two of which the Stolls enjoy. They often ask for her help when it comes to breaking such crimes, knowing that she would be glad to help.

━ After Ethan and her siblings betrays the camp, the Stolls watch over her, noticing how distraught she becomes. They spend more time with her in order to help her recover and get her mind off of the betrayal, and also defend her when other campers jeer at her for having so many connections with a majority of the traitors.

━ They're quick to accept her relationship with Ethan, wanting her to be happy and seeing how much joy the son of Nemesis brings her. While this may seem like a good thing, they're actually choosing to ignore all the harm Ethan brought and continues to bring her.

━ They're very much aware that Ethan kidnapped her, locked her in a dog cage, and other horrible things, but rather than disapproving of the toxic relationship like decent friends actually would, they choose to let it go on instead. In a way, the Stolls (along with many of Esmerelda's other friends) also have rose colored glasses, choosing to see only the good things about the relationship and never the bad.

━ After Esmerelda finds out about her previous life as Maria di Angelo, she happily introduces the brothers to her son, Nico di Angelo. Since the Stolls live with her in the Icarus Tower where Nico visits time to time, they quickly become uncle figures to him and sometimes drags him into their pranks and crimes (much to Esmerelda's despair).

BASIL POSEY

━ A satyr who helps get Esmerelda to Camp Half-Blood safely and is also one of her closest friends.

━ Basil is basically the whole reason why Esmerelda is still here even today (disregarding her first death of course). They meet at the very beginning of the series, with him trying to drive the Stoll brothers to safety only to stumble upon Esmerelda and the Chimera. Even though he was fearful of the Chimera, he chooses to save her and take her to Camp Half-Blood.

━ He is the first person to suspect that there could be more to Esmerelda than meets the eye, theorizing that she could be special since she was targeted by Echidna and the Chimera, two extremely dangerous monsters.

━ When they reach Camp Half-Blood, Basil and Esmerelda no longer hang around as much. This is mainly because Esmerelda is stuck doing camp activities while Basil works to search for other demigods to rescue, meaning he's not even around at camp for long.

━ Despite this, Esmerelda still sees and values Basil as a friend, knowing that without him, she and the Stoll brothers wouldn't have made it to Camp Half-Blood alive.

━ His suspicions about her parentage is confirmed two years later when Esmerelda is revealed to be a daughter of Hecate and a witch hybrid, making her forbidden child and a potential threat to the gods (or just a paranoid Zeus to be honest). Because of this, Esmerelda was sentenced for an execution. While he isn't as close to her as the Stolls or Ethan, he became distraught enough to bawl at the thought of death.

━ During the Second Titan War, he joins Esmerelda and the Stolls last minute and have an almost nostalgic road trip across the war zone. They fight together to guard Olympus and Esmerelda becomes worried when she sees how badly injured he becomes after being attacked by a monster. At the end, the both of them survive and their friendship continues.

CEDRIC DIGGORY

━ A wizard from Hogwarts and a fellow upperclassman from Esmerelda's House.

━ Cedric first starts off as a mere House mate from Hufflepuff to a tutor in the earlier books. He helps Esmerelda catch up on the lessons she missed during her second year since she was too busy being kidnapped. He is proven to be an effective and kind tutor, never bringing her down for her learning disabilities and always staying patient with her. He also isn't one to overestimate his abilities, understanding that Esmerelda was far better than him in Defense Against the Dark and allowing her to tutor him in return.

━ After that, they quickly become closer friends to the point that Esmerelda sees him as an older brother figure (haha, Alabaster, you've been replaced 😜). He's caring, attentive, and loyal, which can be seen in Aporia where her blood relation to Sirius Black (an inaccurate one, but they're close enough at least) is revealed to the wizarding population and he is one of the few people to not turn his back to her.

━ To add on to that, he also attempts to defend her against Draco who refuses to accept her into the family. Cedric is quick to fight for her, but stops upon seeing that Esmerelda has it under control. Later on, he also defends her against other people even after her death. When his father slanders her and the family she comes from, Cedric angrily snaps at him.

━ Cedric also looks up to Esmerelda's skills at magic, praising her as a 'magic savant'. He looks up to her skills so much that he even goes to her for help to prepare for the Triwizard Tournament, specifically for the First Task since he finds out he would be going up against dragons.

━ He flourishes under Esmerelda's barbaric training methods, but is also left with some mental scars while Esmerelda's happily oblivious to his pain 💖 When she brings in Étienne Rosier to join him, the two of them become close (and yes, Étienne also lowkey sees Cedric as an older brother figure too, so haha Alabaster, you've been replaced twice).

━ Their relationship starts to chip away in Eudaimonia when Cedric lies about witnessing Voldemort's return, and it grows worse in Moros. She is disgusted with him for lying about it and putting people in danger, and the increasing ignorance and cruelty from her classmates and peers leaves her even angrier with him.

━ However, what Esmerelda doesn't understand is that he is only doing this for the sake of his family. To her, Cedric's lies put hundreds of people at risk, but she doesn't see that Cedric is a normal teenage boy who's never once been in a position where so many lives could are at stake. He was put on the spot and didn't understand the severity of his actions until it was already too late.

━ Unfortunately, by the time Cedric tells her all of this, she is far too angry and hurt to listen, having been bullied by the media and her own peers. It takes a while for them to rekindle their close relationship, but she forgives him after he told the truth and cleared hers and Harry's names.

━ In Moros, Cedric is one of the people Esmerelda saves during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. Fortunately for his sanity, he escapes the Ministry before he could witness her brutal end, but deeply grieves for her after her death is announced. He attends her Memorial Service and watches Sirius Black's trial.

━ He attends the trial because he truly believed that Sirius was the cause of Esmerelda's death and wanted to be there to witness him being imprisoned to Azkaban for a second time. When Peter (under the orders of Ethan who, at the time, was disguised as Leviticus Haverford) tells the court that he was Esmerelda's killer, Cedric is so enraged by the lie that he nearly stands up to deny it had it not been for Esmerelda stopping him.

━ After the trial, Esmerelda (disguised) goes up to him to talk. She screws up multiple times, forgetting that she's in disguised and completely unrecognizable, but stayed long enough to soothe an upset Cedric who felt unsatisfied since, in his eyes, Esmerelda had not been given the justice she deserves.

SILENA BEAUREGARD †

━ Deceased daughter of Aphrodite and once a close friend of Esmerelda's.

━ While they were close acquaintances, they only began to grow closer when Esmerelda came to her and her siblings for assistance in giving Sirius a makeover. After that, they bonded a lot more.

━ They had a healthy friendship, with Esmerelda often being invited to the Aphrodite cabin for weekly spa dates. Most of the times, they talked about normal things teenage girls talked about: Netflix, clothes, hair, skincare, and war preparation. Sometimes they would talk about boys, with Esmerelda keeping quiet about Ethan and allowing the older girl to gush over her (also deceased) boyfriend, Charles Beckendorf.

━ Because of this, Esmerelda became a hardcore Silena x Beckendorf shipper along with the rest of the camp 💖

━ Esmerelda and Silena got closer while the Second Titan War continued to brew and worsen. Silena was very much aware of Esmerelda and Ethan's budding relationship, mainly because she also acted as a spy for Kronos and was able to discern how the two felt for each other (being a daughter of Aphrodite and all).

━ Silena kept her role as a double-spy a secret. She that Ethan once visited her during winter before the Battle of Manhattan, but kept that a secret as well (which definitely saved their lives).

━ Despite their close relationship, Esmerelda was clueless about her being the spy. After Beckendorf's death, Esmerelda visited the Underworld to ensure that he made it to Elysium and went back to the living world to tell Silena the news while delivering his last message. Silena broke down after that, loudly apologizing, and blaming herself for his death. Esmerelda comforted her, unaware of what she was really talking about.

━ Even after the truth was discovered, Esmerelda didn't feel angered or betrayed by it despite the many other betrayals she felt. Instead, she was grief-stricken with her death and didn't care that she was a traitor, insisting that she had redeemed herself and she had died a hero.

DREW TANAKA

━ Daughter of Aphrodite and a close friend of Esmerelda's.

━ Esmerelda and Drew are only mere acquaintances back in the earlier books. In Aporia, Drew is one of the Aphrodite kids who answers Esmerelda's call for help and assists in giving Sirius a makeover so he can finally integrate with the rest of the world without being at risk of an arrest.

━ They only become closer after Silena's death, but not instantly. At the start of Moros, Esmerelda and Drew have a more business-like relationship, with Esmerelda brewing beauty potions for her and her siblings. They're still somewhat close friends though, Drew often invites her and Clarisse (old friends of Silena) into the Aphrodite cabin to continue with the spa dates.

━ (This was a good indicator that Drew never really hated Silena, because if she did, she wouldn't have bothered inviting Silena's friends back into the cabin.)

━ The spa dates are the only times where Esmerelda can fully bond with Drew and while they're somewhat friends, they're not quite close yet.

━ Esmerelda, however, still cares for Drew's mental wellbeing, realizing that she was forcing her siblings to undergo a harsh 'Rite of Passage' that insisted of encouraging them to date someone... and then cruelly break their hearts. Rather than being enraged, she understands that Drew is still struggling to cope with her sister's death.

━ In return, Drew also has a soft spot for the younger girl, and spares her and Ethan of any attempts of heartbreak (but that's mainly because Ethan lowkey scares her and she can see how... intensely they love each other). Drew is not snappish or mean with Esmerelda, but teases her instead with sexual innuendos and other sex jokes she knows Esmerelda would grow flustered with.

━ During one fateful spa day, Drew is finally called out for her behavior and treatment and runs away in tears when she's unable to defend herself. Esmerelda, along with Clarisse, go chase after her and find her in the forest. The three girls share a heartwarming moment where Drew finally confesses her true feelings about Silena's death and betrayal, and she slowly begins to heal.

━ It's only after that moment does Drew and Esmerelda finally become closer (but of course, Drew still teases her about her and Ethan's relationship). They hang out more outside of the spa days, sometimes joined by Clarisse or Ethan.

━ Drew is one of the many people at Camp Half-Blood who was devastated by Esmerelda's death and expresses relief and joy upon finding out that she had revived herself through the Doors of Death.

PERCY JACKSON

━ Son of Poseidon, one of the Roman Plastics, and Esmerelda's close friend.

━ They share half a braincell together 🥺

━ A friendship between himbo and bimbo 🤪✌️(with Jason, they are called the 'Trimbos').

━ In the earlier books, Percy and Esmerelda often bond over being products of broken oaths and having godly parents who couldn't keep it in their pants. Very quickly after that, they become closer friends. In Proairesis, Percy goes along with the quest to save her and Annabeth, and is one of the first people to be angered and horrified with Ethan's actions, but also sympathizing with her feelings.

━ In Aporia, Percy is the only one Esmerelda goes to when it comes to issues with her family, mainly because she panicked and Percy was the first person to come to mind and he's used to chaos. Percy, acting as her family therapist, advises her to go back to the Fields of Punishment to see her dad again, feeling that Regulus deserves a chance to meet his daughter especially since he didn't exactly die as a 'bad guy'.

━ So yeah, Regulus, you should probably give Percy a gift basket because if it weren't for him, Esmerelda wouldn't have gone back to see you.

━ Actually never mind, if Percy saw how you treat Esmerelda now, he probably would've called Child Protective Services on your ass or maybe have his mom adopt her.

━ ANYWAYS, after Esmerelda accidentally fell into the Labyrinth and went missing, Percy immediately thinks that Ethan's at fault (because he usually is anytime she goes missing 💀) and vows to kill him. Whether he meant it or not is unknown. He promises Sirius that he would find her and bring her back home alive, showing how much he cares for her.

━ In Eudaimonia, Esmerelda, Percy, and Nico work together to try and save the world and venture off to the Underworld. As angry as she was with Nico for tricking them and nearly getting Percy killed, she still threatens to kill Percy when he nearly attacks Nico. But to be fair, Nico always comes first before anyone else 🥺💖

━ They fight side-by-side during the Battle of Manhattan, and Percy saves her from getting killed by Hyperion. They work together to take him down, Grover and the satyrs also offering their assistance. During a confrontation with Ethan and Prometheus, Percy even calls Ethan out for his betrayal and how much the older boy has hurt Esmerelda over the many years.

━ They fight again against Kronos up on Olympus, but are too busy trying not to get killed to interact much. It's only until later do they finally have time to hang out. Until... you know... Hera kidnaps him...

━ They meet each other again in the Wolf House, only this time Percy has zero memories of her. This triggers Esmerelda's protective instincts and she often frets over him (much to Ethan's annoyance).

━ While Esmerelda feels terrible for pretending not to know him, she's horrible at keeping it a secret so it doesn't take long for Percy to catch on. Regardless of that, he isn't even angry at her for lying. He knows she's too nice to do anything harmful to him.

━ He is not once angry with her (or even Ethan) for lying about not knowing him, often making jokes about it and whatnot. When the truth is finally revealed, he still doesn't mind and even hugs the both of them before leaving for his quest to free Thanatos 🥺🥺🥺

THE GOLDEN TRIO

━ Esmerelda's classmates at Hogwarts and one of her closest friends at school.

━ Throughout books one and two, Esmerelda actually went to great lengths to avoid them. She sees how much trouble they get into and, knowing how chaotic her life already was, makes the wise decision to leave them to deal with their own issues.

━ She doesn't even seem concerned when Harry tells her that Firenze advised him to stick with her if he wanted to stay safe, quickly telling him that the centaur must have been talking about another 'Esmerelda'. In the beginning of second year, she closes the train's curtains when she sees Harry and Ron riding a malfunctioning flying car.

━ Another thing she notices is their nosy nature so she works hard to keep her demigod secret a secret, not wanting to trust them with it (and you can't blame her either 💀)

━ She tolerates them a lot more near the end of the third book, Aporia, and even then, she only gets close to them because of their involvement with the situation between Sirius and Peter Pettigrew. After they work together to save her uncle, she opens up to them more and explains the truth about who her real father is and why Sirius covered it up.

━ Esmerelda's bond with them grows throughout books four, five, and six (and onwards in the future), but she's more closer with Harry compared to Hermione and Ron. She acts as a friend, confidante, and even an older sister for him. In book four, she realizes right away that someone was planning to kill him by entering his name in the goblet, and encourages him to join her training session even though he only lasts a day...

━ In Moros (the last book they see each other for now), Harry and Esmerelda undergo vicious taunting, bullying, and abuse by their Hogwarts peers and the rest of the wizarding world and defend one another from it.

━ Esmerelda continues to try and guide Harry to the right path by warning him about the visions Voldemort gives him, but all her warnings fall flat when he is tricked by it and runs off to the Ministry with Esmerelda chasing after him. This is a mistake that ultimately leads to her death which results in completely traumatizing him and leaving him feeling immensely guilty.

━ Harry is overjoyed when she comes back, but that is quickly overshadowed by deep fear and anxiety when he opens his eyes to who Esmerelda really is. Initially, he always saw her as a helpful person who takes care of him, but her arrival in Grimmauld Place along with Ethan and Regulus', shows that she has a rosy view of her loved ones. Harry is deeply troubled when he realizes that Esmerelda is oblivious to how her loved ones terrorize the other inhabitants of Grimmauld Place, but is too scared to call her out on it.

━ Nevertheless, Harry still cares about her and Esmerelda cares for him back. Before she is sent off to the Wolf House, Esmerelda comforts him one last time and allows him to open himself up to her. Harry, who is always stubborn when it comes to his tears, finds comfort in her presence and breaks down in front of her, releasing all of his pent-up emotions.

Can you guys tell that I got tired writing all of this 🤡 I figured I should keep everything detailed since this is my main original character after all and it would look lame if I just had... a few sentences for everything so yeah.

Also, I didn't put it all of her relationships because I was getting too tired and there was also the annoying 20 image/gif limit...
