The interogation and destruction of Alderan

As I opened my eyes I groaned. My head was killing me. As I looked around I realized that I had no clue where I was or how I had gotten here? Nor did I remember my own name. What had happened?

"Oh little misstress you are awake. I was so worried." K-13 said walking up to me.

"Do Me know you?" I asked confused

"Don't you remember me? I'm K-13. I am programmed to protect you and make sure that you get anything you need."

"Ne sowwy me don't memba you. Me don't memba anything. Who am me?"

"Oh dear. This won't do. This won't do at all." However, before K-13 could call a medical droid to administer medicine I was grabbed from my bed and placed in handcuffs. A storm group of Storm troopers grabbed ahold of K-13 and hit the button that shut him down.

"K-13? What's going on? Who is you? Whewe is you taking me?"

"Back to the prison cell where traitorous scum like you belong." The storm trooper replied.

"Me don't undeastand..."

"Just move it traitor!" The storm trooper replied shoving me forward.

"I must protest. The patient is still in need of medical attention." The medical droid begged but the storm troopers just brushed past the droid shoving me out the door. "Oh dear oh dear. That poor girl." The droid muttered as it continued to carry out its normal duties.

Upon reaching the detention center the stormtroopers shoved me into a small cell where a very large intimidating man or was it a machine? Stood towering over a young woman. "And now princess we shall discuss the location of your hidden base."

"I have nothing to say to you."

"Then maybe I should test the serum on her." Vader replied motioning for the stormtroopers to bring me into the cell.

"You monster! She's doesn't know anything! Leave her alone!" Leia yelled and Vader turned his attention back to her. "I won't have to harm her if you'd just answer my question. Tell me the location of your hidden base."

"No." Leia groaned and Vader sighed.

"Very well." Vader replied motioning for the droid with the needle to come towards me.

I stared at the needle both terrified and yet, somewhere from deep inside me pure unadulterated anger. Suddenly the droid began to malfunction and the needle containing the serum broke. A few minutes later, I found myself being thrown into a cell and the door slamming shut behind it.

"Her resistance to the mind probe is considerable it will take some time before we can extract any valuable information." Vader informed Tarkin.

"And what of your apprentice?" Tarkin asked.

"She is of no concern to you. She is serving out her time in the detention center in a cell next to the princess." Vader replied.

"Have then both brought here. Immediately."

"Sir?" K-13 asked turning to Vader.

Vader nodded and replied do as Tarkin had said. "Make sure no harm comes to her." He told K-13 who nodded his head in understanding.

"No time for beauty sleep Princess." A storm trooper mocked as he dragged her from her prison cell.

The storm trooper who opened my cell nodded towards me indicating that he wanted K-13 to awaken me. "Come little one." K-13 said shaking my shoulder gently.

"Why?" I asked sleepily.

"Governor Tarkin wishes for you to experience something." I shivered at the Governor's name. I looked up at K-13 worriedly as I took his hand. "It will be alright little one. Do not be afraid."

"Governor Tarkin I should have known that you were holding Vader's leash." I recognized your foul stench the moment I was brought on board." Leia said her voice full of venom. I looked up at Vader and then back at the Princess. What did she mean? He wasn't wearing a leash. Why would he? He wasn't an animal.

Tarkin smiled "charming to the last. You don't know how hard it was for me to sign the order to terminate your life and the life of this child."

At this, I began to tremble and whimper slightly. I didn't want to die. However, this comment didn't seem to faze the Princess at all. "I'm surprised you had the courage to take the responsibility yourself."

Again her comment didn't seem to faze the Governor. It was as if watching a battle of the wills neither one would back down. "Princess Leia, before your execution I would like for you the two of you to be my guest at a ceremony that will make this battle station operational. No star system will dare oppose the Emperor now."

"The more you tighten your grip Tarkin the more star systems will slip through your fingers." Leia replied and I sighed and shook my head.

"Not after we demonstrate the full power of this battle station. In a way, you have determined the choice of the planet that will be destroyed first. Since you are reluctant to tell us the location of your hidden Rebel base, I have decided to test this destructive power on your home planet of Alderaan."

I looked out at the beautiful planet that lay before us and then over at the princess. Her arrogant attitude now gone.

"No you can't. Alderaan is a peaceful planet, We have no weapons..." Leia protested.

"Would you prefer a different target? A military target? Then name the system! I grow tired of asking this, so I will ask one more time. Where is the hidden rebel base?" Tarkin demanded causing Leia to back up against Vader's chest.

Leia looked at her home planet trying to fight back tears. "Dantooine they are on Dantooine."

I sighed in relief. "There you see, she can be reasoned with. You may fire when ready commander." Tarkin ordered a nearby officer.

"What!!??" We both demanded angrily.

"You can't!" I said angrily and Govoner Tarkin chuckled and smiled evilly.

Tarkin smiled "Oh believe me, I can and I will. Dantooine is far to remote of a system to make an effective demonstration statement but don't worry, we will deal with your rebel friends soon enough."

"No." Leia moaned trying desperately to escape but Vader held her tightly. I clenched my fist and tried to fight back tears. I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of seeing me cry. I wished more then anything that I could make that arrogant monster pay for this. How could he do that to a planet full of innocent people? Suddenly Tarkin's smile faded and the color drained from his face as he struggled to breath. He looked over at Vader in shock.

Meanwhile, in a small ship an old man felt woozy and had to sit down. A young man practicing with a lightsaber sheathed it and went over to his side in concern. " Ben are you alright? What's wrong?"

"I have felt a great disturbance in the force.
As if millions of voices cried out in terror and then were silenced. I fear something terrible has happened. You had better get on with your excersizes." Ben replied.

"K-13 take Catherine back to her cell." Vader instructed.

"Yes Lord Vader." K-13 replied taking my hand. "Come little one." I pulled my hand out of his grasp my gaze never leaving Tarkin.

"No!" I replied angrily.

K-13 sighed and shook his head knowing that he had no choice but to pick me up. "Put me down!" I yelled at him kicking and screaming as he lead me out of the room. "I'm sorry that you had to witness that little Miss." He replied as he held me close. Eventually I wore myself out trying to struggle out of K-13's arms. All the tears that I had been holding back began to flow and I sobbed into his chest. "Shhh little one it will be alright." Eventually I cried myself to sleep. K-13 placed me in my bed and sat down in the corner watching me sleep. He sighed as I tossed and turned. He knew that I was having a nightmare but he had no idea how to help comfort me. Nor did he have any idea how to take away my nightmares.

Back on the bridge Tarkin turned to Vader in shock. "What was that all about?" Vader shrugged. He knew that I was responsible for what had happened to Tarkin but he had no intention of telling him that. "That is the second time that you've placed me in a force choke recently. I am going to have to discuss this with the Emperor. This is completely unacceptable behavior. I don't know what's gotten into you but it needs to stop." Tarkin replied. "I'd be careful if I were you or you may find yourself in prison for treason Lord Vader."
Vader remained silent as he turned and walked off the bridge. Tarkin called after him "Lord Vader! Come back here! I didn't give you permission to leave. We must ensure that the Princess provided us with the proper coordinates so that we might destroy this Rebellion once and for all."

"I am sure you are perfectly capable of dealing with this issue yourself. I have other matters to attend too." Vader replied walking away leaving a dumbfounded Tarkin behind him.

Upon returning to his quarters he was surprised to find me sleeping in my bed. "Why is she here? I ordered you to return her to her prison cell." Vader demanded somewhat irritatedly.

"Lord Vader the little miss has been through quite enough don't you think? Watching that planet be destroyed was far more traumatic then you realize. As you can see, she is still quite terrified." K-13 replied pointing towards me as I tossed and turned in my bed.

"Please don't...." I whimpered. Then tears streamed down my face and I began to breath rapidly. "NO!" I awoke in bed trembling my breathing continuing to be rapid. "It was just a dweam. It was just a dwem. Please tell me it was just a bad dweam?" I pleaded with K-13.

"I'm sorry, but if you are referring to the destruction of the planet Alderaan then no. It was not a dream." K-13 replied. I looked up at Vader and began hyperventilating.

"What's wrong with her?" Vader demanded.

"She is having both an anxiety and a panic attack. It should pass momentarily." K-13 replied.

"Are you alright child?" Vader asked in genuine concern.

I slowly turned my gaze towards Vader my eyes filled with tears and asked one simple yet complicated question. "Why?"

"Why what?" Vader replied already knowing the answer.

"Why did you let him blow that planet up? Why did you let him make lots of people go bye bye?"

"Two billion people to be exact." K-13 replied. My eyes went wide in shock at the actual number of people who died. Again I asked one simple and yet, complicated question.

"Why?"

"It's complicated." Vader replied.

"No it's not! You let him make...." She looked over at K-13 then back at Vader.

"Two billion people." K-13 replied partially finishing my sentence for me.

"Go bye bye. Why? They didn't do anything bad. Why did they have to go bye bye? Please tell me, Why?" I demanded my eyes filling with tears.

"They were not innocent people. They were traitors to the Empire. Now everyone knows the consequences of assisting the rebel alliance and betraying the Empire is deadly. Vader replied. "It's late get some sleep. We will continue your training in the morning." With that Vader turned and left the room.
