The beginning

Authors note a great big thanks goes to BrendaDaaeDestler for the new cover for my book.  Also, I do not own Star Wars this is a fan fiction story based on George Lucas's films.

I'm sure everyone knows the story of Anakin Skywalker. Of his unusual birth, of his life as a slave and then as a Jedi. Of how he fell in love with a young woman the first day he ever laid eyes on her despite their age differences. How he chose to peruse a relationship with her despite the Jedi's laws forbidding attachments and marriage. Of their secret marriage and of how Anakin turned to the dark side in an effort to save Padme from dying in childbirth. How because of the corruption inside the Jedi council he was led down the path of the dark side of the force. He turned away from all that  he had been taught. From all that caused  Padme to fall in love with him.

How he ceased to be Anakin Skywalker and became Darth Vader. Of how his mentor and father figure Ben Kenobi or better known as Obi-wan Kenobi fought and almost killed him? And of course of my brother's and sister's birth but did you know that Padme didn't just give birth to Luke and Leia she gave birth to a third child. I was or rather am that child. My name is Catherine Lily Skywalker and this, is my story.

"Hidden the children of Skywalker must be." Yoda said sitting at a chair near a conference table. "To Tattoonie to his family send the boy."

"My wife and I shall take the girl. We've always talked about adopting a baby girl. She will be loved." Senator Bail Organa replied.

"Master?"

"Yes Obi-wan?"

"Padme gave birth to triplets what is to become of the third child? Of Catherine?"

"Focus on the boy you must. Where to send her meditate on this I shall. Go now you must. Protect the boy your duty is." Yoda replied. Obi-wan nodded and then turned with the little sleeping bundle and left. "Done with you what shall be?"

"You could raise her." A voice suggested.

Yoda shook his head. "raising a baby for that too old I am."

The voice chuckled and then replied "then to her family send her."

"To her family she can not go. Too dangerous I fear sending her to Naboo would be. Return to that planet someday Lord Vader might." Yoda replied.

"I must admit Master, that I'm a bit surprised that you'd allow your fear concerning this little one's future to cloud your judgment."

"Humm. Your advice my old friend I shall heed. Allow the Force to decide her fate I shall." Yoda replied with a sigh. Turning to the officer nearby Yoda ordered "send the child to her mother's home planet of Naboo. On a ambassador's ship transport her you must. Safe from the Empire this child must be kept." Before Yoda left he placed the necklace that Anakin had made for Padme years ago.
As well as a handmade pacifier. "A gift from your father these are. Loved you were and loved you shall be again." Yoda whispered to me.

"Who's baby is this?" The captain asked as I was brought on board.

"Unknown sir. We found her outside the cargo bay. With a note that requested we deliver her safely to the Queen of Naboo. It also requested that we avoid any run-ins with the imperial officials." One of the crewman replied.

"I don't like this." The captain grumbled. "A mission with more questions then answers. Do you at least know who dropped the infant off?"

"No. She was here when we arrived with this note attached to her blanket." The crewman replied handing the Captain the note.

"To whom it may concern, take this baby to the planet of Naboo to the royal household. No questions asked 18000 credits shall be paid once the child's has been safely delivered to the Queen of Naboo." The captain crumpled the note up in his hands. "I don't like this one bit. No. I refuse to put the lives of this crew in danger. We will drop the baby at the nearest orphanage. Then look for a job elsewhere." The captain replied.

"I don't think that's a good idea Captain. That's an awful lot of money to turn down. I'm sure the crew would be unhappy to hear we turned down a job just because it was risky." The co-Captain replied.

"Fine." The Captain grumbled "bring the baby on board. However, I won't lie to the Empire if we are caught. Set course for the Planet of Naboo."

The ship was about half way to it's destination when it was pulled into a large tractor beam. The crew soon found themselves surrounded by stormtroopers and a tall rather intimidating looking man by the name of Governor Tarkin. "Where is this ship's destination and what is your cargo?" The stormtrooper demanded.

"We are on our way to the planet of Naboo."

"And what is your cargo?" The storm trooper demanded.

"We have no cargo."

"A cargo ship with no cargo? That is rather odd don't you think?" Tarkin replies sarcastically. "Search this entire ship from top to bottom. Find what they are trying to hide." Tarkin replied with a slight smile.

"I swear, We aren't trying to hide anything." The captain replied. "We are loyal to the  Empire."

"We shall see." Tarkin replied.

It didn't take the storm troopers long to discover me. "Sir, we have located the cargo."

"Bring It here." Tarkin ordered.

"Sir, I mean no disrespect but I don't think that is a good idea."

"I said bring the cargo to me." Tarkin replied once more.

"Ok, but don't say we didn't warn you." The storm trooper replied with a sigh picking up my shipseat (car seat.) Upon being moved, I instantly woke up and began to cry. "Shhh. Little One, it's ok. Please don't cry."

"What is that racket?" Tarkin demanded as the storm troopers approached him.

"That would be a baby sir." The stormtrooper replied with a slight chuckle.

"I know what a baby's cry sounds like what I want to know is why am I hearing a baby cry?" Tarkin demanded with a frown.

"The cargo the crew is carrying is a baby girl sir. We accidentally woke the baby when we moved the shipseat Sir." The storm trooper replied.

"Where did this baby come from?" Tarkin demanded.

"I do not know Sir. She was left near our ship with a note requesting we deliver her safely to the Queen of Naboo no questions asked and upon delivery we would receive 180000 credits."

"180000 credits for transporting an infant to the Planet of Naboo. You didn't find this the least bit suspicious? Would someone shut that baby up?" Tarkin  said angrily glaring at me.

"But Sir, it's in a baby's nature to cry."

"I don't care, shut the little brat up or I'll do it myself." Tarkin replied.

No sooner had those words left Tarkin's mouth Vice Admiral Thrawn stepped on board the cargo ship. "What is going on here?"

"Just a routine investigation of this cargo ship Nothing that need concern you. We wouldn't want to waste your time on such a trivial issue as to what to do with this crew and it's cargo." Tarkin replies.

"Thank you for your concern Governor, but I believe I shall decide that for myself what is or is not a waste of my time. Someone bring me up to speed."

"The ship's captain claims that they were hired to transport this baby to the Planet of Naboo."

"Is that so? And where exactly did this child you were to transport come from?" Thrawn asks.

"We do not know Sir." The Captain replied trembling. "She was left by our cargo bay with a note requesting we transport her safely to the Queen of Naboo." The Captain replied trembling.

"May I see the note?" Thrawn replied holding out his hand.

"Of course." The captain replied trembling.

"Did it ever occur to you that this infant might be the offspring of some fallen Jedi? Or the offspring of some Rebel?" Thrawn demanded.

"We are loyal members of the Empire. We would never willingly assist those traitors." The Captain replied.

"And yet, you agreed to transport an infant who you have no knowledge of their parentage to Nabbo?" Thrawn replied.

"It was against my better judgement. I didn't want to upset my crew by turning down a job that offered such a huge sum of credits." The Captain replied.

"Commander."

"Yes Governor Tarkin?"

"This crew are Rebel sympathizers and are therefore Enemies of the Empire. You are to execute all on board immediately."

"Yes Sir. Sir, what of the infant? What would you like done with her?"

"I believe I made my orders clear. And someone shut that brat up!" Tarkin replied with a slight growl.

"Yes sir." One of the storm troopers replied taking my pacifier and placing it gently in my mouth. Thrawn was about to leave but paused when he spotted the design of the pacifier. It was similar to one that Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker had once made for his pregnant wife. "Perhaps, we are being too hasty Governor. I see no reason why any harm should befall this child. In fact, it would be wise to have the medical droid take a sample of her DNA and run a search through the data base. Perhaps that will answer the question of her parentage."

"Fine but I shall carry out this task myself." Tarkin replies with a frown.
