Chapter 7 - Mysteries
Petra was rethinking about her decision now. She glanced at Levi in time to time, who was busy with hanging clothes on a wire. He was good at work indeed.
Many people told her she was too good sometimes, in situations she shouldn't be. She scolded herself for it sometimes, but now, she isn't sure how she felt. She was still angry at Levi for doing what he's done to her and the main reason she let him be close to her again is to ask him and find out why he's the way he is. She just hasn't known how. She's been thinking about that the whole time of her current session, but she hasn't came to a good solution yet.
"You may not ralize that, but it started to happen from your first day here."
She shook her head. How Annie can claim that?
Truth to be told, she was afraid that night when he saved her, but the next day when he came to her room and explained things to her, she felt relieved, because he wasn't evil like stories were telling. From that time, she wanted to know why he was so different when he saved her life. It was a full moon and when Auruo told her what he's been doing at that time, she didn't know should she fear or not. After all that happened, she felt bad for snapping at him in The Hall and believing those rumours and fear that overhielmed others.
But her biggest problem was that it wasn't only him that felt attraction, she felt it too. She was feeling really quilty with the fact that she blames him when she's the one to blame as much as him. She gave into him too easily, but what she could do? She knew he's stronger than her, but that wasn't an excuse. Does she really, like him? Or maybe... she loves him?
A
ll of a sudden, Levi's question came to her.
"Why did you gave in?"
"Petra."
Petra flinched and came back to reality. She tilted her head to the side, allowing her to look at Levi.
"Yes?"
"I... want to tell you something."
Petra paused what she's been doing. It was hard to see, but she could swear Levi was uncomfortable, which was really strange.
"What is it?"
He sighed.
"I'm a vampire as you already know. We're different from humans, not just because we drink their blood."
He stared at her, his navy blue eyes locked on her amber ones.
"Around time of a full moon, our sences go crazy. That's why I'm the way I am. When the full moon is far away or it's a day after it, we're back to our normal state."
Petra didn't say anything which caused a weird feeling in Levi's stomach.
"... I want you to understand even a little, if that can be possible. The full moon is in six days so... my judgement is..."
"Your judgement?"
"Yes... My judgement. That's why I've been so... weird in your presence," he responded and looked at his right, like two crows on the branch looking at them were the most interesting thing in this world.
"Can you not control it?"
He sighed. "You're not a vampire so you wouldn't understand," he said and put hands in his pockets. "I've tried to control it but I couldn't."
"Does that mean you've been lying to me?"
Levi snapped his head back at Petra. She looked completly calm, but he could sence that she wasn't calm on the inside as she looked on the outside.
"Huh?"
She frowned. "You said you've never done that to anyone before."
"That wasn't a lie."
Petra readjusted a white blanket hunged on a wire and closed the gap between jer and Levi. She looked him straight in the eyes, making a dark-haired vampire shiver. He felt that again. They were so close that he could hear her heart beating.
"Why me?" she asked with completely calm face.
A minute of silence passed. The air was so tense between them that one could easily cut it with a knife or a sword. Petra was doing everything in her power to not break the eye contact. She couldn't take all that tension anymore, and his eyes. His piercing blue eyes that were so intense and at the same time so tense. In other situations, she would look to the side, just to avoid his gaze. She wanted to know why.
"You're different."
Levi could only say that. She will figure out eventually and he'll, if nothing, know her answer. He hoped she won't be slow though.
"But... why? I'm just and ordinary woman who you saved and...," she said, not wanting to say anything about being his servant and blood suplier, because she didn't want to believe it was the main reason for his actions. "Why am I different from Christa, Ymir, Annie, Mikasa and Sasha? What is it in me that makes you... I don't know what around me."
Levi was pretty stunned though he didn't show it. He had his emotionless mask all along though he was afraid it'll give it up soon.
"I see. You want answers?" he said and locked eyes with her. Petra widened her eyes a little.
"Well yes," she said.
Her simple words and gestures made him wild. A few seconds ago, he felt it and now again. No. It wasn't her body, but her herself. He never thought this will ever happen to him. Over the past few months, the words that his uncle Kenny said to him about male vampires felling in love with human females were occupying his mind. Of course, his feeling didn't happened at the first sight. Or did they? He wasn't aware of that, but soon it increased. He would find himself stare into blank space, having butterflies in his stomach when he sees her or she would just pop up in his head when he tried to sleep. He tried to push away those thoughts by doing more papperworks, trying to read, anything. But when she walked in The Big Room that day with Auruo, standing so close to him and after that event in The Throne Room, he knew. He didn't know should he be terrified or happy, because he was both equally. He's really being forceful and that pained him. He tried to control it by avoiding her in time to time, just in case. But he quessed, the full moon was really his enemy.
"I can't give you them," he simply said.
"W-what?!" she exclaimed.
"You heard me."
"But, you said-"
"What I said and what I really thought is not the same."
Petra stood there, feeling like she's just been slapped. Soon her stunned face replaced a furious one.
"Why?" she gritted her teeth.
"Because... I don't know the answer myself," he responced, not genuine at all and Petra could clearly notice it.
"I know you're lying."
"Oh?"
"I just know. There's something you're not telling me."
"Curious aren't we?" he said and this time he smirked, giving Petra a slight sence of alert.
"Spit it out already!"
"And if I don't?"
"..."
"What you're going to do?"
"I'll...I'll..."
"Yes?" he said and took one step closer. "You'll?"
This time, Petra looked at the ground. She clenched her fists in annoyance.
Bastard, she thought.
"Mr. Levi!"
Petra glanced at the way the noice came from. She was surprised when she saw Eren on the gate. He was sweating and by the look on his face, he was nervous. Levi on the other hand seemed like the young boy's appearance didn't surprise him at all.
"What is it, brat?"
"C-can you please come here? It's important," he answered.
Levi didn't say anything. It was really fortune in misfortune. Perfect timing to interrupt his and Petra's 'chat'. Levi looked at Petra one last time before he distanced himself from her, not missing her glare.
The moment Levi and Eren got inside, Levi crossed his arms and scanned Eren's agitated face.
"So?"
Eren shifted his weight from one foot to another until he finally came to the topic.
"The place where you bit me, it's... it's..."
Levi gave him a look that told him to continue. He wasn't glaring or something like it which calmed Eren a little. He took one big breath and exaled.
"It's blue..."
"...What?" Levi asked with eyes wide.
"I don't know what happened, but it's blue..."
"Show me."
Eren moved a collar of his shirt down, revealing two little holes. The skin on that place was blue with all veins visible.
"Shit," Levi cursed under his breath.
"What is it?" Eren asked, visibly worried.
Levi siddenly grabbed Eren's forearm and hurriedly marched from there.
"It's better if we're in The Big Room."
"O-ok?" Eren muttered.
Once they were in the room, Levi gestured Eren to sit on a chair.
"Take off your shirt."
Eren said as he was told and took off his shirt, revealing his well toned body woth six packs. Levi moved his face closer to the wound and sniffed. He frowned. He didn't like it at all. He went behind Eren and placed his hands on his neck. Eren flinched at the sudden coldness of his hands. Levi traced his thumbs up and down Eren's spine carefully, like he was searching for something. When he didn't find anything, he stood in front of Eren again.
"Raise your hands."
Eren did as he was told again and raised them as much as he could.
"A bit loosed. Relax your muscles a bit," said Levi.
Levi put each thumb at the same spot of Eren's armpit and pressed bard.
"Does it hurt?" Levi asked.
Eren shook his head. "Nothing."
Levi moved down and did the same in a few places but with the same result. But when he went up, Eren flinched. Levi paused.
"This?" he said and pressed one certain muscle just above his armpit. Eren flinched again.
"Yes, it hurts there."
Levi straightened himself without another word and crossed his arms.
"I'll give you a balm and you need to put it on it at least ten times per day. Keep doing like that for two days and if it's not in better codition, come again."
"Thank you Mr. Levi. I... really appreciate that you helped me," said Eren.
Levi raised his eyebrow.
"I don't mind it at all. If someone needs me, they just need to ask. I thought you and others catched it many months ago."
Last sentence caught Eren off guard, the sence of shame overwhelming him. He lowered his gaze to the ground.
"I... I'm so sorry... You helped us all and we haven't thought properly about that conversation of yours we eavesdropped. It was like we forgot what you've done for us, but we didn't, really!" he said and looked at Levi again.
"We... we felt betrayed... we... didn't want to believe it, but it looks like the fact that you're... We've just..."
"It's ok," said Levi and moved to brown wooden cabinet and got a little creme box. He handed it to Eren and repeated instructions once again. Eren thanked him again and put on his shirt, still thinkig about how Levi easily said ok. When he was just about to exit, Levi remembered it and stopped him.
"Call Annie."
Eren paused at the doorknob and turned around slightly. He was staring at Levi for a few seconds before he nodded his head and exited the room. Levi then sat down on a couch, crossed his legs and leaned his head on a header.

Annie was careful to not be followed. She was listening every sound in her surrounding and when she was sure no one was there she knocked on the door.
Theree knocks. Pause. Four. Pause. One.
Levi came to the door in no time and opened them. Annie entered and Levi closed the door behing her. He locked them and put the key in his pocked, while Annie waited. As he turned to face her, she literally flew over that short distance that was separating them and put her arms around him tightly, almost knocking him down.
"Hey..." he smiled and returned the hug.
"I missed you so much," she said, not letting go.
"I know... Me too..."
