Chapter 6 - You can hurt me

"How could you be that ungrateful! He saved you all for God's sake and you forgot that and the only excuse was that he's a vampire!" Petra shouted angrily.

"You don't know what he said one day! You weren't there, so you can't blame us!" said Jean.

"Eh?"

"Other vampire was there! I don't know who he was, but they were talking alone. We eavesdropped them. And guess what he said? What we could think after that?"

.

"Hey Levi, why are you keeping those humans in your home?" asked a vampire, older than Levi, wearing a black coat and a matching hat. Levi chuckled at that.

"I love fresh blood. Why trashing yourself by going to a town or searching throught the forest when you can have bunch of humans on a tray? I thought you're smart enought to fugure out, Kenny."

"You little shit." he said.

Levi chuckled again. "What are you doing these days?"

"Phew. Nothing practicullar. Coming and going."

"I see. Have you found my mother?" he asked slowly.

Kenny sighed. "No, I didn't... But there's something important I must say to you." he said. He moved closer to Levi and whispered, as he was afraid someone might hear him.

"Annie's father sent a massage to you. It's not safe for her to return yet. Bertholdt and Reiner are still attacking, so we still must wait."

Levi listened with a full concern. "I thought so. Those bastards don't give up easily. They'll hurt Annie just over my death body." he growled dangerously.

"And from Ragako. Keep that boy Connie with you, and that girl Sasha too. They'll be in danger if they see them."

Levi frowned. "Don't worry. Tell their families that."

"I will." Kenny said and moved to his previous place.

"Go to sleep brats, it's late!" Levi said in his usual, boring tone.

Suddenly a trashing sound was heard, then sound of a rushed footsteps, like a bunch of people was running away and it became silent again.

Kenny laughted. "So you heard them too?"

"Of course."

"You know Levi, you're pretty stupid. It was sarcasm, but they can get it in a wrong way."

"I'll make an excuse."

"And if they don't believe you?" Kenny asked and raised his eyebrow.

"We'll see." answered Levi and with that, they returned to their chat.

"Was it interesting to hear?" Levi eyed his servants in a dinning hall. He appeared just in time for their breakfast.

They were silent and didn't have a courage to look at him.

"If someone told me there was a person who doesn't understant sarcasm, I would not believe them. But there I am, looking at a bunch of them." he said and exited the room. Others were looking at the door with wide eyes and jaws dropped.

***

"He said it was a sarcasm! See I was right." said Annie and crossed her arms.

"I don't believe him! What if he's just toying with us?" said Jean.

"Easy Jean. Sit and calm down." said Gunther.

"I can't! He's trying to kill us! He's a monster. He wants us to think he wants to help us, but the truth is opposite."

"Jean." said Mikasa, a little irritated at this point.

"Mikasa, be real! We're just his blood supliers and-"

Slap!

Jean's head was turned to the side with his cheek burning. It was painful a lot, due to person who just slapped him.

"What the hell, Annie!"

Annie stood there with a murderous look in her eyes making Jean back away a little. She lowered her hand and calmed down. She sighed.

"Stop talking shit, horeface. He was talking to a vampire, what did you expect for him to tell? The truth maybe? And to put all of us in danger?"

Others went silent.

"So... that's how things are, isn't it?" said Eren.

.

.

.

"We were thankfull of course, but when we heard him, it all went in the water." said Gunther.

"We felt betrayed." added Eren. Petra's eyes widened.

"And because of you, we managed to restore and even make it better." Sasha said to her.

"So that was why you were hesistant and scared when he appears?" asked Petra, when everything came to the right place.

"Yeah. Cowards indeed..." said Ymir, pointing at Jean.

"Hey! You weren't too willing either!"

"Oh, my bad. Horseface!"

"Whoooooohhhhh!" everyone said in unision.

"Come here! Freckie!"

"Oh HELL!"

Ymir and Jean ended up in a firstfight which Ymir won, but Petra could care less, her mind was set on Levi. She smiled. So she was right. He cared for others around him more than in seems. She would lie if she said she haven't started to like him. He indeed was more than someone would imagine.

As she watched her friends encounter, she couldn't help but to think about their more or less tragic stories. They're so cheerful and happy, but they're sure complete opposite when they lay in their beds before falling asleep or when they're alone. They had so much spirit. Then her mind settled on how Annie was concerned about Levi's honor. It was cleary strange.

"Hey, Petra."

Petra raised her head and saw Annie.

"Can I sit beside you?" Annie asked.

"Sure." Petra smiled.

"Thank you."

They were sitting in silence for a few moments until Annie spoke first.

"Don't be jealous of me and Levi. It's not as it seems like."

Petra's eyes widened. "W-what? Why would I be jealous?"

"I saw how he looks at you and how you blush when he appears. You may not realize it, but it started to happen from your first day here."

Petra was speechless.

"From the way your face looks like, I'm right."

Petra brought her palms to her cheeks, not realizing herself that she was blushing.

"I-it's not possible! It's really hot in here, that's why I'm red!"

"Hhmm." Annie smirked.

"How can you think like that?" Petra asked, flustered at this point.

"Well, first of all, he changed so much because of you. He's happier." Annie answered while looking at her friends cheering Ymir's victory.

"Changed?"

"Yes. So much."

Annie looked Petra in the eyes. "He loves you."

Petra's jaw dropped slightly. She wanted to say something, but couldn't due to shock she just experienced.

"Hey, ladies! Come and join us!" shouted Auruo, pointing at Petra and Annie.

"W-we're coming!" shouted Petra back.

"You're too obvious." said Annie.

"Oh, shut up, please!" said Petra and left Annie, joining others in watching encounter between Eren and Jean now.

Annie just shook her head, a small smile printed on her lips.

.

.

Petra rushed in laundry room and slammed the door behind her. She was panting, glad that she finally managed to get here. When she calmed down, she went to buckets of water she carried here before. She sorted the laundry in different baskets and started washing white robe first. Usually, she would sing when she does the laundry, but not this time. She was still light-headed and just couldn't get Levi out of her head.

She was furious. She couldn't understand. How could he came to woman like that, force a kiss on her and touch her like that! And why she didn't push him away?

"From the way your face looks like, I'm right."

No. I don't like him at all!

But was that really the truth?

She groaned in frustration and continued to wash the clothes. When she was done, she threw out the water and picked the basked with only clothes in it, when she noticed how mirror in the room was dirty. She exaled sharply and got a wet rag so she can clean the mirror.

Petra learned that Levi was a clean-freak and wanted everything to be spotless. He would be mad if he finds out about this. She reminded herself that she does this only to save her friends from Levi's shouting and complaining about cleaning.

When mirror was clean, Petra was just about to return to her basket, when she noticed something.

"Oh God!"

Her neck was covered in red marks. They were printed on her skin like stars, some bigger, some smaller. She couldn't believe it! How could he leave so much of this all over her neck! What if someone sees this?

"Petra."

Ginger haired girl looked behind her, just to see the vampire standing at the door. He closed the door and made a few steps towards her.

"Stay back!" shouted Petra and lifted her fists in the level with her head in fighting position Annie taught her. Levi seemed to be surprised for a second, but quickly covered it.

"I just wanted to apologize." he said.

"Apologize?"

Levi nodded his head. "I'm sorry because of your neck. And your lip."

"My lip?" Petra brought her hand to her lower lip and found a drop of dried blood there.

"You bit me again." she glared at him.

"I'm sorry." he said and started approaching her.

"Stay back! I don't want to hurt you!" Petra shouted, but Levi didn't listen.

Petra couldn't understand why she said that in a moment like this. She really didn't want to hurt him. Back then when he drank her blood, she hit him a few times and wanted it to be the least time. Doesn't even know to explain why, so with every step he took closer, she moved further. They kept like that until Petra's shoulders pressed against the cold wall. She glanced left and right, searching for an exit.

"So you are afraid." declared Levi as he stopped around two meters from Petra.

"No, I'm not! Why would I be afraid of you?"

"You're backing away, ready to fight. A person doesn't fight unless it's afraid of something."

Petra stared at him. Is he trying to read her? His face shows some kind of eagery.

"I don't blame you thought. I've been acting strangely towards you in the past month. I just don't get it why you don't want to hurt me?"

Petra lowered her hands slowly to her sides. She opened her mouth to say something, but they just closed again. What can she say to him? She didn't know the answer herself, so how could he? Instead of responding to him, she moved closer to him and glared.

"Why have you done that? Back then, that night and now. Why?"

Levi kept his straight face and stared at her wich annoyed Petra even more. He had her not too long ago against a hard wall, kissing her and now he's acting like nothing happened.

"Why did you gave in?" asked Levi after what it seemed like an hour of silence.

Petra blushed lightly at his words. Now she regretted that she hasn't pushed him away. Or at least tried. He was so much stronger than her and wiggling or stuggling won't meat anything and she knew that. But she had to admit, that wasn't the reason why she let him do that to her. She tried to push any idea of her liking him, but now, when tables turned, it was clear as ice to her. The truth she tried to deny to herself. She thought that was impossible.

"So?"

Petra snapped back to reality and instead of responding to him, she marched to her basket and picked it up and just stood there, part of her not wanting to look at Levi.

Levi had a mix of emotions battling inside of his being. Petra didn't want to answer the most simple question. She let him and now she's acting like she despices him. Deep inside, it hurted. He was telling the truth when he pinned her to the wall - he never felt like this. That warmth and feeling of happiness in his chest that made him smile like an idiot when nobody's around, or a littlest of pain and worry that hardly allowed him to sleep sometimes. He wondered why is that so strong.

"Don't be afraid. If I push it way too much on you, you can hurt me."

Petra glanced at him in disbelief. Levi walked to Petra and extended his hand. Petra looked at it, unsure what to do.

"I'll help you with that."

Author's note:
The past chapters contained a lot of flashbacks and stories that prepared for the main plot. From this chapter, the story will be mostly focused on present. Until next chapter that will be hopefully, more interesting than this one.
