Chapter 5

(Warning. There is self harm in this chapter)

Star blinked back tears as he rushed through the forest, branches getting caught in his wings. He didn't stop.
A pine cone fell and bounced off him, leaving a bruise.
He didn't stop.
Just when Star was starting the think he'd never stop running from the pain, the heartbreak, he tripped over a conveniently placed root, his snout skidding on the forest floor and his wings getting caught up in the leaves.
He laid there, tears running down his face. He wanted to end it, end it all, the heartbreak, the pain, the suffering.
Of course, he should have known that Moon would prefer Gold. Who'd prefer him?
This shy, over-happy, ugly NightWing?
Gee, even his magic didn't effect anything.
Now Gold, Gold was handsome. Star admitted it.
But why would she choose the RainWing? He was a snob, a jerk, a stuck up son-of-a dumbfounded camel. It wasn't fair! Star tried his absolute best to be nice.. and it never payed off.
Star snarled, slashing his razor sharp talons at his wings. There was a satisfactory ripping sound, and a sharp bolt of pain shot through the webbing. Star winced, then grinned. He enjoyed this.
He slashed his talons down his wings again, creating rips. Blood dripped down onto the sea of leaves, staining the fall-colored discards deep red.
Star lifted up a shaking arm, curled his lip back to expose his teeth, then bit down into his wrist.
He flicked his tongue against the wound, tasting the salty tang of blood.
The NightWing heard rustling, but didn't think much of it.
Star moved his jaw left and right, his white teeth digging farther into the wound. The precious, life giving blood dripped down.
He started clawing at his neck, creating deep marks that would forever leave a scar.
Suddenly, a large, dark mass was on top of Star, pinning him down and preventing himself from causing more harm.
Star looked up into the horrified face of Mooncrosser the NightWing.
