"Perfect Penny"
Chapter Twelve: Coming Back Home
Grey's Anatomy 12x05: Guess Who's Coming To Dinner
*Trigger warning*
Eden had learned a few things from her friends, but one thing that stuck with her was The carousel keeps turning. Meredith always said that to her everytime something bad came up. Alex Karev, the man who always seems to find Edem when she didnt want him too. But when he called she knew it was bad. She knew the world was slowly turning around the possibilities endless; who died came to mind. The questions would soon be answered. For now, all she knew was that Alex needed her help and she took the first plane up to Seattle.
Eden knew Derek had died. She just didn't know the details. Be that as it may, she didn't realize she'd be walking into purgatory or the dinner of all dinners. Let's start from the very beginning, shall we?
Seattle, Washington Grey Residence, 7:15 pm
Eden rang the doorbell, adjusting her hair a little in the stained glass. The only person who knew she was there was Alex and Jo. Alex said she had no choice but to stay at his place. She couldn't decline even if she wanted to. She unpacked her bags and spent the whole day with them before they decided to head to Meredith's. She soon followed in her rental car.
When the door opened time itself froze as she took in everything in front of her. Meredith did the same screaming and pulling her sister into the tightest hug. Eden was sure her sister was choking her. Everyone kept asking if she was okay before she replied by slamming the door.
"I found a stray." She says dragging Eden in behind her, everyone begins engulfing the strawberry blonde in hugs.
"Where have you been?" Was the most asked question.
"What have you been up to?" April asked.
As Bailey handed Eden the biggest glass of wine. She sat there and told them everything. Every detail. Every feeling, every inkling of what she had become in Virginia. None of them were surprised. She was always known to be good at anything she put her mind to and of course they were just happy to see her. Derek was just as important to her as Mark was. He was that annoying older brother who knew everything, and you didn't want to admit that he knew everything, but he did. She truly missed him; every memory, good or bad. She missed the man, alongside the love of her life. Even dead, he still had her heart.
They mingled for a while, everyone explaining what was going on in their lives. She was shocked. So many different stories, so many things had happened since her departure. Eden assumed things would change but she never thought they would turn out this way. Everyone was at each other's throats. She always assumed Callie and Arizona would be in love forever. They had that love that was hard to find. That Eden wanted to bottle up in a jar and spread it around the world. She didn't realize how different they would look. She wondered what would happen if she stayed and never left. Would she have lost my mind? Or pushed through the pain and kept going? She didn't think she would've stayed a surgeon. Even though she renewed her license before it expired. For what reason? She was still unsure.
That's not the point. The real point is that all the feelings she buried away, all those hidden dark feelings. She thought, would be tucked under the rug, might just all gonna come out tonight, whether she liked it or not.
Sje sat in the living room with Arizona and April.
April looked over at the front door, "Huh, I didn't know Callie's new girlfriend was a redhead."
"Oh, I think I need more liquor," Arizona said in response, "I'm not ready."
The doorbell rang. "I'll get it," Meredith sang gaily as she pranced to the door. She opened the door, revealing Callie and a red-headed woman on the porch.
"Hi. Meredith," Callie said with a smile, "this is Penny. Penny, this is Meredith."
Meredith and Penny looked at each other for a moment. Eden couldn't see Meredith's face, but the vibes She was getting from her were not good. After a moment though, she spoke, and her tone was friendly.
"Penny, it's a pleasure. Won't you come in?"
"Okay," Callie said with a smile, stepping into the house.
"You can put your coats right in here," Meredith continued, "Can I get either of you something to drink? Wine, beer, margarita?"
"Oh, a margarita sounds good, but I'm on call, so... Club soda with lime."
"I'm fine," said Penny, but Callie wasn't having it.
"What? No! I'm the one on call, not you. Come on, have some fun tonight. I'm driving. White wine for you?"
They got up and headed to the dining area; Arizona needed more liquor, and if Eden was being honest so did she.
In the kitchen, Amelia was being dramatic.
"We're gonna starve. I don't know what to... Where's Maggie?"
Maggie burst in as if summoned by her words, "I'm here! I'm here, I'm here, I'm here, I'm here, I'm here."
Amelia scowled, "Where have you been?"
"I just... I wasn't... I'm here, okay?" she was looking around, seemingly shaken, "Except, God, I have to pee!"
"Listen," Amelia said, annoyed, "people are arriving, and this all still looks like ingredients. Do you have an E.T.A. on dinner?"
"You could roll up your sleeves and start chopping something."
"Food prep has never been my strong suit. I keep the guests happy. I'm more your front-of-house gal."
Alex chuckled, "This dinner's gonna be a disaster." Eden caught his eye and, despite everything, they couldn't help smiling.
"Oh total disaster," Eden replied snarkily.
"Everybody, stop talking," Maggie shot Eden a frown, "Meredith, Eden, you take over. I got to pee!" Maggie stormed off towards the bathroom.
Stephanie nodded to the wine glasses in Meredith's hand, "Were you gonna do something with those?"
"Um... Yes. Uh, club soda with lime for Torres and white wine for her friend.
Amelia gasped, "She's here? Is she nice?"
Eden picked up a chef's knife and started dicing, Arizona poured herself another glass of wine, "Um, this bottle's empty. Are there more?" she looked around meaningfully, "Bottles?"
Alex turned to Meredith, "Place looks nice, Mer. I like the hole where the wall was."
"Thank you so much," Meredith responded to his jab with a wide, transparent smile, "Can I get you three a drink... margarita, wine, beer?"
"A margarita would be awesome," Joe said with a smile.
"White wine for me," Eden chimed in.
"Okay. You got it." Meredith spun about hurriedly to go retrieve the drinks.
Alex furrowed his brow, "What's wrong? You're being weird."
Meredith didn't even acknowledge his question. "Wine, beer and a margarita coming right up."
Eden looked back at Alex as Meredith left, "You're right, she's being super weird." He raised his eyebrows in agreement.
Joe scoffed, "She's being nice," she paused, "To me. Which is weird."
Alex nodded, "See?"
Eden shook my head, "No one's that nice. She's putting up a front, which means she doesn't want us all to know just how close she is to falling apart. She's not gonna be able to keep it up much longer; the mask is already starting to slip. And when it does..."
"Um, okay," Alex said, "who actually are you?"
Alex and Joe were staring at her, mouths agape. Eden hadn't realized just how much of her time was spent with the Behavioral Crime unit. It had changed the way she looked at people. No wonder they're uncomfortable, she thought, they aren't used to talking to each other like this. She couldn't keep talking to them like they were profilers. She had to be her normal Eden surgeon self, not her B.A.U. self.
They kept mingling. Meredith wasn't getting any less weird. Callie noticed Eden, and brought Penny over to introduce the two.
"Eden!' Callie exclaimed, "When did you get back?"
Eden smiled briefly, "Just a few hours," she looked at Penny, "Penny, right? It's great to meet you."
"Oh", Penny answered, slowly, "Thank you. I mean, um, nice to meet you too," she took a long sip of wine, staring at the floor. Meredith wasn't the only one acting strangely.
"At last, we get to meet the legendary Penny," Amelia explained, running up with her hands full of drinks, which she distributed among the group, "Uh... That's me. That's mine. That's you. That's you. Whatever she told you about us, just ignore it."
Amelia laughed. Eden rolled her eyes. The whirring from the blender in the kitchen continued.
"Well, you're lovely," Penny replied, "She didn't lie. She speaks very, very highly of you."
Amelia looked at Callie, who shrugged, "You're welcome."
Amelia nodded, "It's all true. Kind of chaotic right now, but don't worry about it."
The whirring from the blender still hadn't stopped. This wasn't good. Eden turned to check on Meredith. Alex and her exchanged worried glances. She stepped towards Meredith, who looked over at Alex.
"Does Wilson like salt or..." she turned the blender off and poured the margarita. Alex shook his head.
"What's going on? Are you all right?"
"Yes. I'm great. How are you?"
Alex raised an eyebrow, "You're not great. You're, uh, you're freaked out."
Eden nodded in agreement, And you're smiling a lot."
"Well, I'm having a dinner party," Meredith replied, widening her forced smile.
" Yeah," Alex said, "like you're in a hostage video or something. Something's wrong."
"Uh, t-the house... it's filling with people, and I need to make drinks for those people, and... I'm possibly having a dinner party with no dinner."
Eden placed a hand on her shoulder, "Let me help with drinks, okay?"
Meredith opened her mouth to respond, but Maggie interrupted her.
"Okay, I'll be right back," she said, "I have to pee."
Alex frowned, "Didn't you just pee?"
Eden took over making margaritas as Meredith took a cheese tray out into the living room. After a minute or so, Alex looked at her.
"She should be back."
Eden nodded, "Let's go check on her."
As we entered the living room, we saw Meredith running up the stairs, clutching something in her arms. Alex moved to follow her, but she put a hand on his arm.
"She wants to be alone, Alex. Give her time. Let's make sure everything's good in the kitchen. She doesn't need to come back to a disaster."
Alex nodded, and they headed back into the kitchen. Meredith had left without pouring her wine, and Eden helped herself now, pouring a glass and taking a drink.
"Okay," Eden said, "Maggie seems...distracted? Should we start on dinner?"
Alex shrugged, "How?"
Eden let out a deep sigh, "Okay, so that would be a 'no'. What's up with Meredith?"
He shook his head, "Not sure. She normally talks to me about stuff."
"Well, then clearly this is something 'abnormal'. There's got to be some sort of unique stressor that's getting to her, something that she doesn't feel like she could talk about. We need to analyze recent major events in her life and then cross-section that with factors currently present at the party. That should allow us to narrow down..."
Alex was glaring at Eden, she paused.
"...and I'm doing the profiler thing again."
"Ya think?"
Eden nodded, "Got it."
Amelia and Meredith stormed back into the kitchen, both looking annoyed. Amelia looked around at the uncooked ingredients laid out in the kitchen, "I don't even know what Maggie was gonna do with this. Should we order pizza? Let's just order pizza."
"Did something happen?" Alex asked Meredith, "Is it the kids? Did Maggie leave? Is it Maggie?"
"No," Meredith snapped at Alex. She seemed truthful. It wasn't Maggie or the kids. Something else. She turned to Amelia, "Stop it. We are not ordering pizza. There is plenty of food here."
"No one knows how to cook it," Amelia, "Everybody loves pizza."
Arizona chimes in, snacking from a bag of chips, "Who are you trying to impress... Penny? 'Cause Penny will roll with it. She's a delight. She's smart. She's funny. We have a crazy amount in common."
She gasped. In the living room, Jackson and Penny were getting introduced.
"Oh, God. Maybe I should date Penny," she continued.
"No," Alex replied, visibly annoyed.
"Ill-advised," Amelia agreed.
"She's pretty," Arizona said, slurring, "Callie..." she chuckles. "Callie picked a pretty Penny."
"How much have you had to drink?" Eden asked Arizona, raising an eyebrow.
"So, what," Amelia ventured, "... 10 pizzas?"
"I'll cook!" April said, heaving herself off her chair with a sigh, "I need something to do anyway."
"Yes!" Amelia exclaimed.
"Eden, help me."
Eden shook her head, "Uh-uh, I do not cook."
April pursed her lips at the woman, "Fine. Wilson, you'll assist."
"Uh, that's okay. I'm just gonna grab some more..."
April interrupted her by tossing her a bag of carrots, "Here, peel and cut into quarter-inch rounds."
"Great," Wilson scowled, "I didn't think I was at work."
"I could kiss you on the mouth!"
"Well, someone should" April replied dryly as she put on an apron.
"I'll help," Meredith chimed in, "Give me something to do."
"All right," April said, "uh, wash and slice apples."
"Meredith," Eden said, cautiously, "Maybe you should just relax? Take it easy for a bit?"
Meredith ignored her sister . Whatever she was feeling, she was trying not to feel it, and that wasn't a good sign. April kept giving orders.
"Jo, when you're done with that, run to the store for a pound and a half of Manchego cheese and then check back in with me for more. Who are you calling?"
"Running errands is scut," Jo replied, pulling out her phone, "Interns do scut. Cross, I need you at Dr. Grey's house, stat."
"Meredith" Alex said, "You don't even know how to cook."
Once again Alex and Eden exchanged worried looks.
"Alex, I'm a surgeon," Meredith scoffed, "I know how to use a knife. Ow!" Her finger was bleeding. Alex grabbed a paper towel and applied pressure. Eden hurried over to make sure she was okay.
"See?"
"You distracted me," Meredith snapped at the pair as they moved her into the bathroom.
"Ow!" Meredith exclaimed as Alex applied a band-aid.
"Shut up and stay still," he shot back, finishing up, "There," he looked up at Eden, "You know, it only takes one person to fix a cut."
"Maybe I should cut you then?" Eden offered, "So I'll have an excuse to stay?"
Alex chuckled. Meredith sighed.
"Callie's girlfriend is... "
"She seems nice enough," Alex offered, "I haven't talked to her much, but you can tell she's into Torres."
Eden nudged Alex's shoulder, and he looked between the two sisters, confused, "What?"
Meredith started to say something, but was interrupted as Torres and Penny entered.
"Well, I've got to go check on a posterior shoulder dislocation at the E.R," Torres said, resignedly, "I tried to talk the fellow through it, but he's an idiot, so..."
"Uh, thank you for having us," Penny added, but Torres shook her head.
"No, no, no. You stay and have fun. This won't take long."
"No, I'd rather..." Penny glanced back and forth between Torres and Meredith, "I'll... I'll keep you company."
Callie laughed, "Penny should stay, right?"
Alex nodded, "Uh, Sure."
"I'll be back in no time," Callie said, giving Penny a kiss on the cheek, "Alex, get her another drink."
"What are you drinking?"
"Uh, white wine. Hopefully, Robbins hasn't drunk it all."
Alex and Penny left, leaving Eden alone in the room with Meredith. She offered her sister a worried look. After a moment, Callie poked her head back in.
"Hey. Do me a favor. I feel really bad leaving. Will you keep an eye on her and make sure she has fun?"
Eden nodded, "We got it Callie."
"Thank you," she smiled and left.
Eden looked back at Meredith.
"You were trying to tell us something? About Penny?"
She shook her head, "It's fine."
"It's not fine, Meredith," She replied, "You know I've been profiling serial killers, right? You can't bullshit me, this is clearly not fine."
She sighed, "Let's just go downstairs, okay? I don't want to talk about it."
Eden exhales sharply and they head downstairs.
In the kitchen Eden finds her drink and makes her way back over to Alex.
"There's something going on with Penny and Meredith. They might have met before."
Alex nodded, "Yeah, somethings up."
"Should we try to keep them separated?"
He shrugged, "I don't know, Eden. Let's just keep an eye on Meredith."
"Uh... Okay," April said, back in the kitchen a few minutes later, "when the potatoes are done, we will sprinkle the Manchego, and then I'll dress this salad."
"You know, you're amazing," April said, waving a kitchen knife to accentuate her point, "You just made order from chaos. You are a catch!"
Eden took the knife from her hand, shaking her head, "I've seen enough stab wounds in the last few months.
April continued, "Then I'll sear the flank steak, couple minutes on each side, turn the temperature down, 5 to 10 minutes more while I steam the peas."
"Hey, that smells good," Alex said, walking behind April, "Do you need help?"
"Uh, yeah," she replied, "you can mince the garlic."
"Mm," he frowned, "Yeah, I don't know what that means," he turned to Jo, "Having fun yet?"
"Fun?" she scoffed, "No, I'm not having fun. Stephanie's ignoring me, and I'm..."
"Meredith is barely speaking to anyone," he interrupted her mid-sentence, "You notice that?"
She glowered at him, "You don't see the irony, do you?"
Alex moved to go check on Meredith, but Eden cut him off.
"I'll talk to her," she whispered, "You talk to your fiance."
He growled, "Yeah, don't tell me what to do."
Eden bristled, but a knock came at the door, and Alex left to answer it. Eden went to go find her sister. She didn't find her, but after a few minutes she did find Alex and Jackson hiding in a corner, Jackson handing Alex a small wad of cash.
Eden crossed her arms, "And what are you two doing?"
"We..." Alex leaned forward and whispered, "...we've been waiting on dinner for hours and we're hungry. I'm gonna run and get some tacos from that place up the street."
Eden shook her head, "That's just wrong," looking left and right, she quickly handed Alex a ten dollar bill, "but get me some. This is ridiculous."
Amelia walked in, smiling at everyone and rearranging some pillows on a nearby couch, "Okay, on a scale from one to ten, how bad does this party suck so far?"
"Is one the worst or is ten the worst?" Alex asked, "Because it's one of those."
"Come on!" she shot back, but Eden just laughed.
"Look," Alex explained, "I only came here for the free food. There's no food."
"Your guests are making the dinner," Jackson chimed in, "It's like you didn't even want to have a party. Did somebody force you to have this party?"
Penny shuffled into the room, "Sorry, just grabbing my coat."
"No," Amelia exclaimed, "you're leaving?!"
"I'm feeling a little light-headed," Penny replied. She was lying. "And I have a thing in the morning."
"See?" offered Alex smugly, "It's a 1 or a 10."
"Listen, Callie will be right back. I know that this is a really tight bunch and it is easy to feel stuck outside, but once they get to know you, you have friends for life," Amelia sighed, "They're nice. We're nice. Yeah. We're very nice. We're nice people. You'll see."
"I appreciate that, but..."
Eden interrupted, "What's going on with you and Meredith? Hmm?"
She opened her mouth, taken aback by the blonde's bluntness, but before she could respond Meredith poked her head into the room. When she spoke, her voice was weak, defeated, sad.
"Dinner's ready."
"Too late," Amelia shot at Penny, "You're trapped."
They made their way to the table. Eden sat beside Alex.
"Uh, where's Torres?" Jackson asked.
"She's at the hospital," Alex replied.
"What, she just left you here by yourself?" Jo asked Penny, "I would kill you," she added to Alex.
"She said she'll be right back," Penny explained, "Although, we all know how night calls go. I might be asking one of you for a ride home."
"Yeah, well, she better get back soon, otherwise I'll take you home myself," Arizona said, "Find a Penny, pick it up," she chuckled. "No?" she asked, noticing that no one else was laughing, "What, I'm... I'm being nice."
"Dr. Robbins," Bailey raised an eyebrow, "you drunk. Don't think I've ever seen that. I like drunk Robbins."
Arizona laughs. "I do, too."
"So, Penny, I've been chained to the stove all night," April said, "What did you say you do?"
"I'm a doctor. A surgery resident, actually"
" Of course," Arizona slurred, "Penny's a doctor. 'Cause Penny's perfect... Perfect, pretty Penny." She chuckled.
"Where do you work?" April asked.
"At the moment, uh, technically, I'm between gigs."
"What does that mean?" Amelia chimed in.
""Well, uh, last year... the hospital where I was working was... closed down. And then, um, right before I met Calliope... "
"Aww, Calliope," Arizona interrupted, "I used to call her that."
"It's kind of like a joke with us," Penny continued, " 'cause my name's Penelope. Penelope, Calliope."
"Penelope Blake!" Bailey exclaimed, "that's why I know your name. You're in my calendar. I have a meeting with you on Monday."
"Y-yes."
"Why?" Alex asked, cautious. My eyebrows furrowed.
"Well, she is a new resident transfer."
Meredith's eyes widened, "What?"
"Well, yeah," Bailey shrugged, "She's joining the program at Grey-Sloan Memorial."
"Congratulations," exclaimed Arizona, "That's perfect."
"Are you kidding?" Meredith's nostrils flared, 'Is she kidding?"
"I rematched... to Grey-Sloan Memorial."
"Where were you working before?" Amelia asked, "the, um, place that closed?"
"It was, uh..." she sighed, "a smaller suburban center out by the sound."
"She was at Dillard," Meredith said coldly, "Dillard Medical Center."
Eden inhaled sharply.
"Dillard?" Jackson asked, "Dillard? Isn't that, um..."
"That's where Derek died," Meredith nodded, "Isn't that right, Penny?"
"That's... That's right."
Meredith glared, "Perfect Penny killed my husband.," she inhaled deeply, exhaled, turned to Kepner, "Kepner, the food is getting cold. Let's pass those peas," she paused, "Excuse me."
Meredith got up and left. They heard her footsteps as she ran up the stairs.
"What?" Amelia hissed, "What did she say?"
"I think what she meant..." Penny stammered, :What sh... What she was trying to say..."
Alex turned to Eden, "Let's go check on Mer."
Eden nodded, and they got up and left the table.
"I knew something was up with her," Eden whispered to Alex as we went, "Meredith's been weird around her all night."
They found Meredith in the bedroom, sitting on the bed with her head in her hands. Eden knelt down in front of her. Alex sat beside her, playing a hand on her shoulder.
"I'm so sorry Meredith," Eden said, "Why didn't you tell us?"
She shook her head, "Didn't wanna ruin the party."
Alex scoffed, "Wasn't much of a party to ruin."
Eden sighed, "Okay, so what happened?"
"She, um..." Meredith sniffed, then continued, "She didn't...she could have done more, pushed harder for a CT" she shrugged, teary-eyed, "she didn't. She didn't, and now Derrek is dead."
Alex nodded, "So, what do you want to do? You want us to get her out of here, get everybody out?"
"I don't know!" Meredith's voice broke.
Just then, Amelia stormed into the room.
"I'm not gonna let them do this. It's not gonna happen. We will call a meeting of the board, and we'll have a vote, and we will fire that bitch! We'll... We're stopping this."Eden glared at Amelia, silently pleading with her to tone it down, but she didn't seem to notice. "We're gonna take care of this, right? Meredith? Why aren't you saying anything?"
"Because," Meredith sighed, and for a moment she looked older than her years, "I really... I really don't want to talk about this."
"Yeah. Clearly. You knew who she was all night, and you never bothered telling me?"
"Amelia," Eden said, standing and turning to face her, doing her best to channel Hotchner, "Sit down and shut up."
She glared at Eden, "How dare you? You left when things got hard and now you think you can just come back and interject yourself into this?" she focused past Eden, on Meredith, "She killed Derek! You invite her here. Y-you let me sit there and talk to her all... I... well, I hugged her! Why?! W-why would you do that to me?"
"I did this to you?" Meredith growled. Eden growled too, taking a step towards her, but Amelia continued.
"You should've told me. You should have. I thought that you and I..."
Eden was already actively shoving Amelia back as Meredith stood, finally losing her bearing, "I... did... nothing... to you. I lost my husband and the father of my children, and you're falling apart? I don't get to do that because I have three kids, so, please, shut up and get out of my room!"
Owen was coming in behind Amelia now, and Meredith yelled at him, "Get her out of here before I kill her!"
Seeing that Owen was handling Amelia, Eden turned and went back to try to comfort Meredith, who had a rare mad rage in her eyes. She collapsed on the floor, and Alex sat against the bed. Reading the room, Eden retrieved a bottle of tequila from one of Meredith's drawers before sitting beside her. Eden handed Meredith the bottle, and she nodded, opening it and taking a swig.
She sighed, "You two can go."
Eden looked at Alex, who shook his head, and nodded back to him before turning back to her sister.
"We aren't going anywhere, Mer," Eden smiled, and she smiled faintly back.
She sighed, "Now she's a person."
Eden nodded. It's always easier to hate someone when you only have a few memories of them. Get to know someone, start to understand them, and it's different. She loved her sister. From the moment she heard of her, she loved her sister. And everything seemed to fall into place.
A knock came on the door, and after a moment Callie opened it slowly, "Hey," she said weakly, "You okay?"
"Yeah," Meredith replied, "Great."
Alex mouthed an apology at Callie as Eden got up and slammed the door. she would've felt bad, but she was more worried about Meredith at the moment. She took a long drag from the bottle, then handed it back to Meredith.
After a few minutes, she turned back to Alex.
"Isn't Jo waiting for you downstairs?"
Alex facepalmed, "Shit. Shit, yeah, I should..." he frowned at Meredith, "Are you gonna be okay?"
"Alex, I'll be fine," she said. She was lying.
"I'll stay," Eden said, "No one's waiting for me," Eden turned back to her sister with a smile, "You're stuck with me."
She nodded glumly, "Like old times."
They stood and went downstairs to see Alex off. After he left, Meredith closed the door, leaning against it for a second. She felt for her; she was so tired. On every level she was exhausted.
The two sisters thought they were alone in the house now, but when they turned around she was standing there. The woman of the night. Penny.
"Oh, gosh. Uh... Okay, um... I didn't know that you were down here."
Meredith raised an eyebrow disbelievingly.
Eden shrugged, "She's telling the truth, Mer, if that matters."
"I'm leaving. I called a cab. I am so sorry about tonight. I never would've come if I'd known."
Meredith rolled her eyes and they breezed past her to go up the stairs. She turned and kept talking.
"Tomorrow morning, I am gonna file a request to be rematched with another program, and... you will never have to see me again," she paused, then continued, "I want you to know that I didn't forget about him. I never will. What you said that night about your husband being my one... I think about that night, about him... every day. That's all."
Meredith paused, inhaled, and looked at her sister.
Eden nodded, "Yeah," she said, "She's still being honest."
Meredith sighed, then turned to Penny, "I'll see you Monday. Don't be late!"
Penny nodded at left.
Eden put a hand on Meredith's shoulder, "Wow what a party?" Meredith just chuckles linking arms with her sisters. The pair walked back up the stairs. Sure everything changed and everyone changed but Eden and Meredith's bond was still the same and that warmed her heart.
