Chapter Eight: Born To Be Wild
1x10: The Popular Kids

*Trigger warning*

Massanutten Mountain, Virginia

A couple is running in the forest. A guy with black hair and a grey jumpsuit with a green shirt underneath and his girlfriend with a black jumpsuit and blonde hair with a white shirt underneath.

"How much farther?" She pants.

"What?" The boyfriend replies quickly as they turn down a corner.

"Are we almost done?" She pants.

" You want to stop?" He questions.

"No."

"Let's rest a while." He suggested stopping and taking a break.

" I promised I wouldn't slow you down. You go ahead. I'll catch up." She says through heavy breaths.

"I can wait." The boyfriend says as the girl rolls her eyes.  Hands pressed firmly to her lips.

"Adam, please. It's your workout. Go. I'll meet you at the point." She orders as he kisses her softly.

"You're out of shape, cheerleader." He quips earning a slight chuckle from the blonde.

"Oh, yeah? Let's see you do 3 backflips and land in the splits."

"The point?" He says she nods and replies with  "The point." As he takes off.

She pants more and takes a seat on a nearby tree stump fixing the laces on her shoes as a few branches break in the distance. Her head turned quickly in that direction. Looking around at her surroundings she sees no one continuing to fiddle with her shoe laces. As more branches snap again. As he looks around again her heart races.

"Hello? Is somebody there?" She calls out standing from the tree stump.

"Adam... If you're trying to scare me, I'm gonna kill you." She says as more tree branches break. She takes off through the forest, her legs running faster than before. She races through the trees and down a steep hill before reaching the point. Where she told Adam she would meet him.

The blonde heaves a sigh looking at Adam lying unconscious on the ground. She slides down the hill to him panting harder this time.

"Adam? Adam. Adam! Adam! Oh, my god. Adam, please wake up. Adam." She places her hands on both sides of his head lifting it slowly to see that he was bleeding.

"Baby, please, baby. Please! Noooo!" She screams. As the killer approaches.

//

Eden walked into the bullpen with a yawn, her bag slung off her arm. She went straight for the kitchen. Derek and Reid standing there. Pouring her cup of coffee both hands clasped around the mug as steam swells from the cup.

"Easy there, tough guy. Have some coffee with your sugar." Derek says as Eden watches Spencer pour a huge stream of sugar in his coffee, stirring it and then pouring in more.

"I need something to wake me up," he replies.

"Ooh. Late night?" Derek questions as Eden roll her eyes.

" Very."

" My man." Derek holds his hand out for Reid to high five.

"Probably not that kind of late night. Seeing as Reid is a gentleman." Eden murmurs as Reid smiles at her.

" Ok, so tell me, what keeps young Dr. Reid awake at night? Wait, let me guess. Memorizing some obscure textbook. No, no, no, no. Working on cold fusion. No, I got it. Watching Star Trek... and laughing at the physics mistakes." He quips as Eden smacks him in the arm.

" Actually, there aren't that many scientific errors in Star Trek. Especially considering how long ago it was made. There are certain improbabilities, but not that many outright errors." Reid says as Derek rolls his eyes and Eden smiles like a proud parent.

"Right." Derek replies as they both turn to walk away.

"Hey, Eden, Morgan? Uh, do you ever have dreams?" Reid asked as Morgan and Eden turned around at the same time.

"I'm sorry?"

"I guess nightmares would be a more accurate description." Reid says as Eden grabs onto his hand giving him a reassuring look.

"Is that what's keeping you up?" Eden asks as he shakes his head.

"I used to get them occasionally but lately it's like I have them every night."  Reid  replies as Eden's heart breaks a little.

These last few weeks she learned to love The good Doctor. They went on a few early morning coffee dates and he even invited her over to watch "Doctor Who" with him. She had grown to like Spencer Reid and could now say they are truly friends. He's the only person she shared her secrets with on the team. Besides Hotch bit and Elle, Hotch only knows because he's her boss. Elle only knows because she got Eden drunk enough to tell.

" What are they about?" Morgan says.

" This. What we do. Do you have nightmares?" He asked as Eden  stayed quiet trying to process his question.

The true question was. What didn't she have nightmares about?  It's like everytime she closes her eyes she is back home in Seattle laying in bed with Mark and for a minute she is happy content with herself and then she blinks and she is in her room, beads of sweat dripping down her  face. Her skin craving for Mark's touch and then she's afraid to go back to sleep because truthfully she knows it's just a dream that Mark isn't really there that he's dead and not coming back and facing that again, feeling that again.... hurts.  So she stays awake. Read a book, Or goes for a run. Hours of occupying her mind until the sun comes up and the birds are chirping outside her  window and her alarm is screaming at her telling her it's time to start my day.

" Reid, I'm not sure if I'm the right person for you to talk to about this." Derek says as Eden is pulled back into reality.

"Why not?"

" It's just, uh... Did you ask Gideon about it?" Derek asked, not answering the question at all.

"No." He replies rather too quickly.

"You should."

"Hey, Hotch wants everyone in the round table room." Elle says as Reid just shoves past her . Elle looks at the pair and Eden clears her throat and rubs the side of her mug. " Something up with you three?" She says as Eden walks off, putting her things away at her desk and heading to the round table.

JJ struts in wearing a lime green turtleneck and a pencil skirt, her heels clicking against the Tile floor. "Mcallister. Western slope of Massanutten mountain in Virginia. 2 bodies discovered in the woods both with apparent blunt trauma to the head." She says plopping the flies on the table.

Everyone grabs a file Elle and Eden being the only two sitting at the table.

" Skeletons?" Reid says.

"One of them. The second victim was just killed this morning." JJ replies as they all look over the files.

" How do we know there's a connection?" Elle asked.

" They were found about 75 feet apart with nearly identical head wounds." Hotch replies.

"Where's the rest of the case file?"

"There isn't one. The sheriffs are on the scene waiting for us." Hotch says.

"Their location is only a half hour away by plane."

"What's the rush?"  Eden questioned.

" Well, there was evidence on the scene that could cause a bit of a public uproar." Hotch murmurs

"A satanic cult." Gideon mutters glasses perched on the bridge of his nose. He slaps the file down on the table before exiting the room.

Sir Peter Ustinov said, "unfortunately a superabundance of dreams is paid for by a growing potential for nightmares."

" JJ, we need to obviously keep this out of the press for as long as possible." Hotch orders.

"I'll do what I can." She replies looking down at the picture. Hotch hands her.  Elle and  Eden were sitting next to each other Reid was in front of them.

"Why is that so important?" Elle questions.

"There was a nationwide scare in the 1980s involving satanic ritual killings and abuse. The satanic panic, it was called. It began after the publication of a book about repressed memories being recovered through hypnotherapy. Memories of growing up with devil worshippers who use children in their rituals and ceremonies." Reid babbles rubbing his hands together. Eden smiles at his babbling loving when he tells facts about things she  honestly had no clue about.

"Most of the claims were later found to be false or just impossible."

" Still, numerous therapists accepted the assertions as true and began searching for similar signs in their own patients. After one year, thousands of people reported the exact same repressed memories."  Reid continues as he and Eden lock eyes. She smiles at him before tucking a hair behind her ear and looking back down at her own file.

"The bureau conducted an investigation and concluded that most of the ritual killings or abuse were more urban legend than anything else." Hotch explains.

" You're saying that there's no such thing as devil worship?" Elle questions as Eden chuckles knowing she of all people would ask that question.

"Not at all. But most of the satanism that we've seen is juveniles damaging property, desecrating churches, cemeteries. To my knowledge, there has never been a proven case of a satanic ritual killing in the United states."

"Well, maybe there is now." Derek mutters as Eden sucks in some air.

The B.A.U arrives at the scene and of course Eden is once again paired with the person she hates. She smacks the gloves on her hands very quickly. She wasn't trying to catch anything from these woods. Derek looked at her analyzing every feature on her face.

"Don't do that" she muttered looking at the ground. The brown leaves crunching under their feet as they walked.

"Do what?"

"Profile me. I'm not an unsub."  Eden mumbled looking closely at the ground.

"You never answered Reid's question."

"It was directed towards me and besides what would I even have nightmares about? I was a surgeon and I saw more death than the two of you combined." Eden explained stopping in her tracks.

"That doesn't mean you don't get nightmares just like the rest of us." He says as she roll my eyes.

"Derek, I don't have nightmares okay and even if I did I wouldn't talk to you about them." Eden sasses walking away. She  walked up behind Hotch and another deputy.

"He was kind of a local hero. A high school football star." The deputy explains.

"So a pretty strong kid, huh?" Hotch asked as the guy nodded his head in response. They  all stopped in a circle formation as the deputy eyes her up and down for a second before Derek walks up to him.

" I know he used to run out here on the mountain all the time. That's not easy." He says.

"Was he out here running today?" Derek questions.

"He was wearing sweats."

" A crime of opportunity or was the unsub lying in wait for this kid specifically?"

"Unsub?" the deputy repeats.

" Unknown subject. The killer." Eden says with a sigh irritated with the deputy already.

"If it is a cult, do you think they cared who the victim was?"

"Maybe. Maybe not."

" So we're talking about a blitz attack on a high-risk victim- one who could defend himself- with a weapon picked up at the scene." Hotch says picking up a medium size rock.

"Disorganized offender. It could be a cult." Eden mutters

"The manson crime scenes were textbook disorganized murder."

"This looks like a heavily traveled area." Eden continues.

"A lot of the locals walk these paths. Some tourists, too." Deputy explains.

" If you are gonna conduct a ritual killing? Would you do it in the middle of a traveled path?" Elle questions.

" Well, if the other crime scene was a ritual site, where the pentagram is, I might blitz the victim here and drag him to the other scene." Hotch leers

"Why didn't they?"

They waited for the others to hike back up from the trail as Gideon, JJ and Reid appeared. Eden  pulled Reid out from the steep hill and they locked hands together. His clutching hers tightly.

"Find anything interesting down there?" Hotch quips as Gideon makes his way a few inches away from Hotch.

"Yeah, it does look like some kind of ritual site."he mutters in his monotone voice.

" Have any of you ever heard the expression lod or the acronym L. O. D.?" Reid says standing up straight as he finally got his footing.

"Not me." Elle murmurs as she and Derek's eyes are fixed on Reid and Eden's hands. He blushes a deep red shade before quickly removing his hand as Eden rubs the back of her neck looking the other way.

Reid and Eden held hands, not  because they  liked each other. But because for some reason Eden felt better with him. It was like the world felt safer. She felt solidified to the ground with Reid's grasp onto hers. It made her  less scared. She  wasn't dreading being awake or missing Mark's scent on every single shirt she owned. She was perfectly okay. Reid of course didn't mind. He just liked the fact that she was opening up. Telling him things that she wasn't doing before.

"Cherish? Cherish? Sheriff Bridges!" A blonde woman screams from behind us. Her brown eyes panicked like the expression on her face.

" It's ok, Harris. Let her in." The sheriff replies to the deputy who lets the women under the crime scene rope.

"Was Adam Lloyd killed out here?"

"Who told you that, Veronica?" The sheriff snips

" Was he? My daughter was with him. They were out running together this morning. Oh, my god. I can't find her. Cherish is missing. Cherish is missing! Help me, please." She pleads

The B.A.U team looks around at each other, their murder had turned into a kidnapping case as well.

"We're looking for someone who can overpower our victim and abduct a girl from a traveled path without being seen."

"It certainly fits with the cult theory. More than one unsub to control multiple victims." Reid says

"But if the attack were ferocious enough a single unsub could, too. Kill Adam and grab the girl while she's in shock." Eden ventures as Elle and Derek come back up from the trail.

"This is some rough country. We only went 1/4 of a mile, and we almost got lost."

" The unsub has to be from this area. You don't just stumble onto a place like this."

"JJ, where'd the sheriff go?" Gideon lilted as JJ didn't look up from her phone she frowned.

" He's setting up a search party." She explained

" Tell him I want him to use volunteers from the area. Locals."

" Do you want him to know why?" JJ asked.

"No, not yet." Gideon says looking off in the distance.

"Is it wise to alienate him?" Eden queried as Gideon looked back at her with an impressed look.

"Well, he thinks we're looking for a monster. If we tell him we're looking for volunteers so we can profile Who shows up he might call the whole thing off." He explains as the team breaks off into different groups.

//

JJ called and told them that she convinced the sheriff to let the locals In the area with the search.

Elle and Eden  decided to stick together seeing as they were a great team and the only women on the team with guns. A crowd started to form as the two women watched.

"Everyone, please, as soon as you've signed in make your way back to the police cars. That's where you'll be assigned your groups. Thank you."  The reverend shouted over the murmuring crowd. Eden stood next to Gideon and Elle and Derek and Hotch showed up. Watching the crowd grow.

"I grew up in Brooklyn. You couldn't get this many people out for anything less than free money." Elle commented as Eden chuckled.

"Well, here come the jocks and cheerleaders." Derek nods towards them.

" Ladies and gentlemen, can I have your attention, please? Now, you're all assigned grid squares to search. Each grid has a deputy or an FBI agent. You find anything, do not touch it. Just let your grid leader know. Now, are there any questions? All right. Everyone get in your group now." The sheriff orders as the crowd disperses into smaller groups

They began walking, searching the woods. Eden called out for Cherish as she and Elle kept searching. Eden stopped to fix my boot as Elle kept going forward. She felt a tap on shoulder and practically jumped out of her skin.

"You alright there?" Henry, one of the volunteers that was in her grid asked. She looked around noticing it was just the two of them.

"Way to scare a girl."

" Saw you bent over." He murmured with a sly smirk.

" I was tying my shoe."

"These almost never come untied." He comments by waving his foot around to show her his boot.

"Good for you."

"My name's Henry." He says as Eden laughs seeing as he's wearing a sticker that says hello my name is.

"Well, then good for you, Henry, I'm Eden."

"Like the Forest?" He mocks as she rolls her eyes.  "That's a different kind of name."  He smirks as the two  continue through the woods.

"I have had it all my life."

" That's funny. Your whole life." he licks his lips, "You're with the FBI, right? That must be exciting."

" It has its moments." Eden sighs irritated with this guy already.

"It's dangerous, too, right? I mean, you go after killers and things. Really bad guys. You ever have to shoot-" he stops in his tracks when they both see a note attached to a tree branch with a piece of cloth next to it. Eden picks up the note with a glove and pulls out of the branch it was sticking too.

"Satan commands the virgin to be sacrificed at the next full moon." She reads.

"That's tonight, isn't it? Wh-what's that?" He asked, pointing to the smeared red smudge on the paper she placed the note in an evidence bag.

" Blood." she muttered, sighing. They  headed back to the group and Eden showed them the note. All of them went back to the police station while the locals went home.

//

It was time to give the profile. Eden stood next to Reid eating some apple slices from a bag. He grabbed one and popped it into his mouth as she smiled at him. Knowing he hated germs. Even though he did, he never freaked out when it came to sharing with Eden. he practically drank out of the same coffee mug as her sometimes.

"Okay. Contrary to popular belief there has never been a proven case of satanic ritual killing. Never a verified human sacrifice. Having said that, there have been isolated cases of animal sacrifice.. Many, many cases of vandalism in the name of satan." Hotch begins hands in both of his pockets.

"But that doesn't mean that ritual satanism is impossible. More importantly, for our purposes there have been cults that killed just in a ritual fashion." Derek speaks up from the desk he was sitting on top of.

"The Reverend Jim Jones and The People'sTemple. His followers killed a U.S congressman and Three people  before committing mass suicide  and leaving over 900  people dead. And perhaps the most widely known of the cult killers. The Manson family under the direction of Charles Manson, killed nine people in a 4-day period in an attempt to initiate a race war." Reid babbles

"Killer cults do exist, and they all have one thing in common... Invariably they're headed by charismatic megalomaniacs." Elle says from the desk that Derek was sitting on.

"You're looking for that leader. He's who will stand out. He'll be memorable to somebody, people who aren't in his group will see him as strange, weird, scary. Since we're dealing with professed satanists which is often practiced by younger males we may be looking for teenagers. Heavy metal music is often associated with satanism and these kids and their leader may reflect that in their look."  Eden explains  standing next to Reid and Hotch.

"Most likely, there'll be sex, drugs and alcohol. And the leader, he'll be older. It's part of his charm."

"And he is from this area. He's definitely local." Hotch says as Elle comes over next to Eden her hands in her pocket.

"These woods are too thick and confusing for a visitor to get around in." She explains

"You think one of our own people is doing this?" Sheriff sneers, arms folded firmly over his chest.

"We're sure of it." Eden nods

" I would know if someone was capable of doing-" he snaps as his son interrupts him.

"Dad. I know somebody like that."  He pipes up and the sheriff dismisses everyone and Gideon,  Reid, Hotch and Eden all go to his office with a few deputy's and his son.

"His name's Mike Zizzo. He graduated about 5 years ago. He's in his 20s, but he still hangs out with high school kids. He's got a group of them. They follow him everywhere. They all get high and listen to heavy metal. He calls them the lords of destruction."

"LOD." Reid chimes in as Eden nods

" How do you know this, Cory?" He questions both hands pressed firmly on his desk. His son Cory took a deep gulp. "It's all right, son."

"I've been there, where they hang out drinking beers. He talks about Satan all the time. Says he's the one true god."

"Where is this place?"

"On the other side of the mountain?" Cory explains as the sheriff rolls his eyes.

" The old Jenson house. It's out of my jurisdiction."

" Not ours." Hotch says as they all grab their gear and head out all of them piling into two SUV'S Gideon was about to get into the back when he closed the door.

"I'm not going on the raid." he says

"What's up?" Hotch lilts.

"I don't know yet."

They pulled up to the house piling out of the car quietly Derek and Eden had point on this. Since they were the fastest. He stands in front of the door ready to kick it as Eden nods her head giving him the go ahead.

"FBI! Don't move! Eden yells.

"Turn the music down now! Up against the wall! Everybody up against the wall now! Up against the wall!"  Everyone was shouting over the music.

They walk into the next room to see Zizzo standing on a table, Arms out at his sides as if he had wings. He smirks playfully and Elle and Eden as Derek snatched him down from the table. He smiles at Eden.

"I will only speak to the ladies,'' he says. Pouting his lips out to kiss the air. Derek shoves him into the wall a little before leading him out the door and into a police swat car.

Hotch split everyone into groups of three. He, Elle, and JJ would be at the station interrogating Zizzo while Derek, Reid, and Eden would need to stay back to make sure all the party goers went home and secured the scene.

//

"I've got to give the sheriff a report. I'll be back as soon as I can. Do you guys need anything?" Mike the deputy says from his police car.

" Coffee would be nice."

"He takes about a quart of sugar in it." Derek jokes as Eden rolls her eyes and walks back over to the spot they were standing at before.

"2 teaspoons is fine." Reid says as Mike nods and pulls away.

"Morgan. You knew I didn't want you to tell Hotch about my nightmares." Reid snaps as Eden looks at Morgan shocked.

"Reid, that's something they need to know about." Derek says as Eden shakes her head looking at the ground.

"What do you mean "they"?"

"Hotch and Gideon."

"You told Gideon, too?" He shrieks

" Yeah, and it's ok, kid."

"What if they think I can't do my job? What if they want to pull me off the team?" Reid babbles as Eden's heart breaks for him.

"They won't. Do that" She explained.

" Oh, yeah? How do you know that?" He snaps looking at her.

"I just do." she murmured slowly.

"You had no right, man. I- I confided in you. You know, this is exactly what I get when I trust someone. It gets thrown back in my face."

"Mine started 6 months after I got into the B. A. U. Yeah. Mine." Derek says leaning on the back of Zizzo's car ."We were working a strangler case in Montana. Four victims. Me, I was still pretty young at the time so you know, I was feeling myself. I was cocky, I was arrogant. The locals, they didn't have anything, so I stepped up. I said I can nail down a profile for you just as soon as I can get what I need. More victims? She was found the next day. So I went down to the scene to do my thing. And as I was looking over the body, that's when I saw them. Her eyes, Reid. They were wide open. And there was something different about them; it was like they were looking right at me. Like she knew. I asked for a victim. Well, here she was. That's when they started for me. Night after night I would fall asleep and I would see those eyes. They were dead eyes. Accusing eyes. And it got to the point where it was happening even when I wasn't asleep. Reid, everywhere I went, I saw those eyes."

"What did you do?"

" Gideon. He knew. I didn't tell him. I was like you. I didn't want anybody to know. He just...he knew. And he sat me down and he just kind of talked me through it. I still have nightmares to this day, just not nearly as often. But when they come back, I know how to handle them better."

"What did he say?" Reid asked as a car pulled up quickly, Eden placed a hand on the holster of her  gun. She starts walking towards the car, Derek right behind her.

Corey walks out of the car panicked as ever. "Did you find her? Cherish?"

" No."

"Did Zizzo say anything?"

"We don't know. We've been here the whole time." Reid says as Cory begins walking to the front of the house.

" Cory, calm down." Eden cooed as he paced back and forth.

"How am I supposed to calm down? Cherish is missing. Did you check all over?" He says as Eden shakes her head.

  "We searched the whole house."

"What about the outbuilding?" He explains as he and Eden look at each other.

" Outbuilding?" Derek questions.

" Did you check the other area? Back in the woods?"

" I didn't know there was another area." Derek shrugs.

" Yeah, it's like a sluice structure or something. He took me there once. It's this way. Let's go." Cory says, leading them through the forest again. "It's up here. This is their secret place." Cory says  as he shows them an abandoned house. Derek and Eden shine their flashlights on it.

"Reid?" Derek says, showing him the LOD symbol on the side. Derek begins looking around and insists that Eden stay with Reid and Cory.

" I can't believe this is happening. This kind of thing doesn't happen in McAllister." Cory says

" You said you read the profiling books. You know bad things happen anywhere. Anywhere at any time" Reid speaks up. Eden begins analyzing every moment with Cory in her head.

Derek comes down the hill from the location with a sad look on his face.

"Is she there? Is she all right?"

" Cory, she's in there." Derek says

" Is she dead? She can't be dead."  Cory says as Derek nods.  Eden walks up to Derek.

"I think it's him." she whispered.

"Cory? You think the unsub is Cory" he asked in disbelief.

"Yes and I can't explain why but something in my gut." She says  trying to keep everything on a hush level Derek nods his head at her as he tries to open his phone to get service.  He closes it shaking his head no. They walk back to the others.

"Reid, I want you to go to the house and see if the deputies have come back."

"What?"

"We need the sheriff and the crime scene team here."

"But"

"Reid. Do it." Eden encouraged pulling him along gently. He nods and walks past.

" I can't-I can't believe Cherish" Cory says, still stunned.

"I'm sorry about your friend." Eden comments

"I saw her the other day. It was a pep rally." He explains as Derek takes a seat on the old stairs in front of Cory Eden just stood next to him.

"Reid tells me you've read all the profiling books." Derek piped up as Eden looked from him to Cory.

"Actually kinda hoping to be one of you guys someday." Cory says with a slight smile.

"Oh Yeah?So then you know what profilers do?" Eden murmurs mimicking his actions.

"You know that we look at a crime scene from a different perspective than regular cops, right? We look for more than just the evidence. We try to pick up on the behavior of the killer." Morgan explains and Eden nods my head, hands in my pocket.

"For example, the guy we're looking for in this crime would be classified as a disorganized killer." Eden informs him as his nods.

" Sounds like Zizzo, doesn't it?" Cory Insists

"Yeah. Sure it does. But then again, sometimes a disorganized killer only looks disorganized. Sometimes it's actually an organized guy, and a pretty smart guy."  Derek explains.

" Somebody who can manipulate a crime scene to make it look like somebody else did it. Because of that, we also gotta look for someone who might try to put himself right in the middle of an investigation so that he can influence things. Especially if he knows exactly what it is that we're looking for. I mean, he wants to control this, right? And that would extend to discovery. Wantin' the body found when and especially where he wants that body found."Eden says Derek stands up next to her.

"You mean me?" Cory sneers. His tone is sharp, eyes narrowed in on Eden. It was like he was hunting and she was his prey. She  placed a hand on her  gun holster only to find it empty. She locked eyes with Derek who had his arms out at his sides.

"This was more than just a lucky guess, wasn't it?" Derek continues as Eden tries not to show her worried expression.

"I knew about the building."  Cory snaps.

"You also knew about Zizzo and satanism." Derek accuses.

"I was only trying to help."

" Well, you did that. We couldn't have found this place without you."

"Hey Morgan, no one's up there."  Reid says coming back down from the mountain Eden pushed him out of the way so that Cory had no choice but to grab her instead.

"Get over here." He seethes, pressing the gun to her throat. "This got all messed up."

"Don't be stupid."

"She wasn't supposed to be with him. It was his run. He runs it every day, not her."

"Cory, listen to me. We can fix this. But you've got to let Eden go." Derek says Reid's eyes wide, he was fiddling with his hands. A habit he takes on when he is nervous.

" I never meant to hurt her. But make no mistake, I will shoot your little girlfriend right now." He snaps as Eden winces at the pain he was causing. From the grip his arm had on her throat.

If this was any other unsub he'd be on the ground with a dislocated shoulder and her foot in his back. But for starters this was a kid. Who wasn't in the right mind at the moment and hurting him wouldn't make it any better.

"No, you won't."

"Tempt not a desperate man. Put the gun down."

"Okay alright. You win."

"Drop it. Drop the gun!"

"Ok. Ok. You win. I'm putting the gun down. You're in control, Cory. Let her go." Derek puts the gun on the ground.

"For evil is man's best force. Man must become better and eviler. That's what this is about, right?" Reid pipes up. "Zarathustra? The superman? There's no moral obligation for killing someone if you're superior to them?"

" But Nietzsche was speaking metaphorically about evolving as a species." Eden explains as Reid nods his eyes a bit wider. He was shocked she knew nietzsche.

"You're just a horny kid who wanted to get rid of the cheerleader's boyfriend." Derek mutters nodding at her.

" No."

"Yes."

"That was never my intent-" Eden flipped him over onto the ground as Derek tried to tackle Cory at the same time, all of them falling to the ground. Derek was now on top of Corey with a hand around his neck.

"You all right?"  Derek asks.

"What happened?"

" Him bringing us down here was way too much of a coincidence."

" I got that. But did you have to tackle us too?" Eden sassed as Reid nodded in agreement.

" You're welcome, Red. C'mon. Let's go,Cory."  Derek scoops him up off the ground as Siren's are heard coming up the hill. Reid helps Eden up and she dust him off the duo walking down the hill together.

Playwright Eugene Ionesco said "ideologies separate us, dreams and anguish bring us together."

Eden chose her spot on the plane, putting away her  bags. She  sat there for a minute with a book sitting open in her lap. Of course she wasn't reading it. her thoughts were consumed with endless memories of Mark. His eyes and how they wrinkled on the sides when he was really laughing at something. He'd always tell her to give him Botox if his whole face started to wrinkle.

She would always tell him no that he was perfect in every way. Her body shivered not because it was cold but because she simply missed his touch.  Every kiss he pressed onto her skin with his lips.  It was hard not seeing him everyday. And seeing him in her dreams made her not want to be asleep.

"You never answered Reid's question." Derek says, popping her out of her quiet bubble.

"I don't recall there ever being a question"

"He asked if you had nightmares too and you never answered." Derek continued as Eden sighed and closed her book with her thumb.

"Derek, what I dream about is none of your concern." She explains opening her book again.

"Oh bull, you're doing it again"

"Doing what?"

"Putting up your walls. Protecting yourself. You don't want to be vulnerable, at least not around me. Especially not around Pretty Boy, or Hotch or Gideon and Elle cause you are the only two  women on the team." He explains as Eden rolls her eyes. She would never admit it but he was right.

She scoffs. "Oh please. That's not even remotely true."

"Then what is it?" He whispers their face oddly close.

"Wouldn't you like to know." she smirks playfully looking down at his lips.  As the plane comes to a stop. She gathered her things and smiled at Derek being quicker than he was. "Goodnight Derek." She sings with a wave. Before exiting the plane and heading straight to her car.
