Chapter 6

Before I knew it, I woke up in a nice bed right next to Lydia. She looked like a angel when she was asleep. She was breathing calmly as if nothing was really happening. It was in the middle of the night.Alice and Aaron were laying in the bed on the other side of the room. Alice was sketching in her sketch pad and Aaron was reading a book with a black hard cover.

"Oh,Matthew, why are you awake? You should get some sleep." Alice said looking from her latest sketch.

"I guess I just need to talk for a bit to fall asleep again." I said, not really knowing why I woke up in the middle of the night.

"Oh,I guess I understand." Then she gazed at Lydia. "I just hope there is a way to cure Lydia. It would be a shame to see her parish from such a horrible thing that is slowly taking her life away."Alice began to elaborate on our situation. "Many humans were killed because of the Impurions." Then I started to wonder, why didn't the humans realize this threat?

Then Alice began to tell the story about a war, the Witch-Vampire war.

"Long long time ago, Impurions were created by a third party in the war against humans and witches. Humans and witches were on one side, vampires on the other. The witches decided to create a horrible breed of vampire, one that could kill humans and vampires. Witches back then were outcasts to humans, so they formed the secret party behind their allies back. And created the Impurions. The Impurions would be able to inject a poison into their prey and track them with that same poison. Many died because of that. The humans... and vampires. Humans and Vampires then allied and defeated the Impurions. Or so we thought. Now humans and vampires just don't really know of each other. Some witch covens that made those monsters are alive today."

Alice concluded and I was speechless at first, then I finally had something to say.

"Alice? Was my coven involved with the ones that made the Impurions?"

"No, that was the only sane coven of witches that always sided with the humans. Your great grandfather actually knew me in that war, when I was a teenager. He saw the goodness in me too. Though he never told anyone." Alice said and she closed her sketch pad.

"You were a teenager?" Alice then started to laugh, so did Aaron.

"Of course! Born vampires age only to a certain extent. It usually happens when we look like an early 20 year old. It is different for each vampire though..." Alice said and Aaron smiled a bit.

"Well,I am getting tired... unfortunately. Better go to bed. Good night,Matthew." Then Alice then looked at me and did a little wave like Elvira. "Pleasant dreams..." She said and laid down.

Then Aaron put away his book and turned out the light.

I stared at the ceiling a bit. After that huge story about the Impurions, I had a lot to think about... Staring seemed like the only thing I could really do at the moment from what has been happening. I was also listening to Lydia's quiet breathing. I wish I could just wave my hands and cure Lydia. I doubt it would work...

Lydia then started humming a tune in her sleep. Did she always do that? Her humming was quite soothing though... I listened a bit, trying to figure out this tune. It drove me nuts unable to really know the tune. I really wanted to know...

I then saw Lydia had her ear buds in. So that might be why she was humming! I took one out of her ear and started listening to the music.

When I get home from work,

I wanna wrap myself around you.

I wanna take ya, and squeeze ya till the passion starts to rise.

I'd like to take you to heaven,

that would make my day complete...

But,You and Me ain't no movie stars,

what we are, is what we are.

Share a bed, some popcorn, and TV, yeah.

That's enough for a working man,

What I am, is what I am.

And I'll tell you baby, that's enough for me...

The melody and sweet lyrics drifted me to sleep...

"Matthew! Come on and get up! We need to get a move on!" Alice yelled as she was applying makeup. She wasn't looking at a mirror at all. Then she stepped up to the mirror and all I could see was blood red lips,doll-like lashes, blush, and her dark brown hair. Her face, neck and hands seemed to disappear, leaving the clothes floating in thin air.

"What are you looking at, Matthew? You know vampires don't show up in human mirrors. But I like the reaction every time though!" Alice said, chuckling to herself. "Glad thing I have a special compact that will show my whole face." She then reached for a compact, must be the compact she was talking about, and she looked at herself in it.

"So,how come I could see you in the car mirrors?" I asked, puzzled a bit. It might have been because I just woke up.

"I replaced the mirrors in there so I didn't look suspicious." Alice simply said as if it was common knowledge. Duh... I could have totally figured that out... Then a headache came on, I needed my coffee... Caffeine headaches were the worst, actually, any headache is bad.

I then heard Lydia yawn, she was finally awake. "Morning, Matthew, Alice, and Aaron." She said and I smiled a bit.

"Morning, Lydia, ready for day two!" Alice said as had Aaron French braid her hair. Her beautiful dark brown hair now being braided in a beautiful pattern.

"Yeah,I guess so. I need to go and take a shower first. If I don't my hair will be a total mess." Lydia said and she went to the bathroom with a new set of clothes. I then looked at myself in the mirror, my hair was a total mess. It wasn't even a good looking mess, it was sticking up every which way. I also saw that I was in clothes from yesterday, I needed to change my clothes at some point.

Then Lydia emerged from the bathroom. She came out with a Marvel tank top, a red and blue plaid button up shirt as a jacket, ripped up capris, and her black converse. She took her old clothes and stuffed them in a bag. Her hair was a wreak too, a wet wreak.

"Why does your hair look like you just went through a hurricane?" Alice asked, then she chuckled, revealing her fangs a bit.

"I just took a shower and towel dried my hair. My hair is pretty fine and has some natural wave,so it tangles easily." Lydia said and Aaron finished Alice's braid. She thanked him with a kiss on the cheek, then Aaron went to his suitcase. He came back with some bandages and went to Lydia. He gave a warm smile to Lydia and laughed a little.

"Your hair won't do the way it is right now. Where is your brush?" Aaron then grabbed the brush from Lydia's hand, sat on the bed while Lydia sat in front of Aaron, and he started brushing her brown hair. I then went into the bathroom, took a quick shower and grabbed new clothes. I got out of the bathroom with a AC-DC Tee with black cargo shorts and some black converse. I then saw Lydia, her hair all dried, brushed and crimped, and Aaron bandaging her neck.

"There you are, Lydia. Do you have any sort of scarf or bandana to cover the bandages around your neck?" Aaron asked, Lydia then nodded and went to her backpack and gave Aaron a red bandana. He folded it so she could wear it on her neck and tied it around her neck.

"Thank you, Aaron. You are so nice!" Lydia said and Aaron smiled alittle.

"It was no trouble at all, Lydia." Was all he said.

We got out of our hotel and we got back into The Black Widow, which Alice and Aaron raced to the driver's seat, but Aaron won. He then opened the door for Alice, got on his side, and started driving.

Alice started a CD in the car while we driving down the highway. The music was blaring Joan Jett, another one of Lydia's favorites. She was the girl who loved a lot of classic rock and roll and hair bands. She was born in the wrong decade.

As the day went by, it seemed a little monotonous looking at all the road. Then I looked at the front of the car and saw it smoking! Alice cursed and pulled over to the side of the highway. Once the car stopped and was turned off, Alice put the hood up and looked at it. Lydia and I jumped out and looked too. It was steaming, not smoke thank God.

"Well...we just need it to cool off, then go to a repair shop..." Alice said and Aaron nodded as we watched the car steam on the side of the road.

"So,where are we going to take it?" I asked, wondering what repair shop is around here.

"There should be a little town in the first exit, we will go there." Aaron said and finally the car stopped steaming. We all jumped back in,Aaron now driving, found the exit, and turned into a little town. There were cute little shops, restaurants, and cute little houses with white picket fences.

"Welcome to Leave It To Beaver Land,everyone..." Alice sarcastically said, seeming not to enjoy herself here.

"Alice, don't say such rude things, my dear." Aaron said to Alice, he then drove to the repair shop run by, it looked like, a old man and his son.

"Howdy! What can I help with you today?" The younger man said to Aaron.

"Well,I was seeming to run into a bit of a issue near exit 20. I was driving along and my engine started steaming..." Then he glanced at the hood again and saw it steaming again. "Like it is now. Could you possibly help us out and fix this for us?"

"Sure thing, we can check it out and see what's up with this beautie of a car." The man said and he motioned us to drive in the garage. We got out and we all watched the men look at the car.

"Well, there are a few other problems in here too. It will take awhile." The man started saying. When no one was looking, Aaron gripped the man and looked into his eyes. "Are you telling the truth to me?"

"Yesum."

"How long will this car take to fix?"

"Abouta day or so. I can possibly have it done by tomorrow mornin' ."

"Good, thank you sir." And Aaron let go of him. "Alice, why don't you go and get a place to rest tonight." He said as he winked and Alice nodded.

"Come on, children, let's go." Alice said as we started walking down the street of this small town. Not short after we came upon a dirt road,a muddy dirt road. "Come on, let's get going." Alice said as she rolled her eyes and motioned us to come with her. We walked on the grass and some maniac driving 50 miles per hour covered us in mud and water! Alice cursed again and again, that was the last straw.

"Why am I stuck in this Hill Billy Hell?!" Alice screamed as she walked even faster, but now her heels were sinking in the grass.

She cursed again and took off her heels, revealing her bare feet and her blood red nails. We walked a bit farther and found a farm house up ahead. Alice then breathed a half sigh of relief. We walked onto the porch and Alice knocked on the door.

A man answered the door with a surprised look on his face. "Alice?"
