Chapter 4
Alice drove and parked by the curb next to my house. "Alright, ready everyone?" Alice said as she turned off the car and everyone unbuckled their seat belts.
We all got out and headed toward my house, we looked kinda silly in such a clump heading toward the house. Also Aaron and Alice didn't help blending in since they were pale and dressed kinda awkwardly for this century.
Alice had the ruby red dress, her heels, sunglasses, lipstick, and her hair in a bun with a red scarf as I looked closer at Alice. Aaron had some dark jeans, a red buttoned up shirt, converse, and sunglasses. This couple kinda stuck out a little in my neighborhood.
Alice rang the door bell and my mom answered it.
"What did Quinn do this time?" Was the first words that came out of her mouth once she saw Alice.
"Well, shall we come in? It is dreadfully hot this summer day."
"Of course, come on in." and we entered my house. We all went into my living room, my mom told everyone to make themselves comfortable. Alice and Aaron sat on the love seat couch while Lydia and I sat on the other couch.
"Hello, Alice, Aaron. It's nice to see you again." My dad said as he walked in, Alice and Aaron stood up. My dad gave a firm handshake to Aaron and then kissed Alice's hand.
"Oh! Hello, Lydia, it's been awhile since you came over.Wonderful to see you again." My dad waved to Lydia, she smiled and waved a little back.
"So, what is happening? You don't come unless something supernatural is happening." My dad said and my mom came in with two coffee mugs full of tea for Alice and Aaron. They both politely thanked my mom for the cups of tea. My mom asked us if we needed anything to drink, Lydia needed her morning cup of Earl Grey, and I needed my cup of coffee so... yeah...
"Well, Alaric, we have a situation that involves the health of Lydia. She was bitten by an Impurion vampire." Alice said, not even sugar coating the situation at all. There was Alice for you, she would just give you something straight, not even avoiding the situation.
"Impurions? They still exsist?!" Alice then sadly nodded and she started to answer him back.
"Must be, look under Lydia's bandages. The mark is already there. It's as plain as day." And my dad then went over to Lydia and started removing the bandages carefully from her neck. There it was, the mark, a mark that looked like a bleeding cross.
"Wow, so, how does Quinn fit into all of this?"
"Mr. Maxwell, Quinn saved me. He found me in a alley being attacked when I asked him to meet me at the frozen yogurt place. He saved me. He took me to Alice and Aaron to get help and..." Lydia shyly rambled on a little and then didn't know what else to say.
"So, we are all going on a road trip to the Vampire Council in New Orleans to see if they can cure Lydia." Alice concluded and my dad started to pace.
"Well, she knows of vampires now... there is no use to keep this secret from her any longer, Quinn." My dad said and he let me reveal my secret. I was never able to reveal my true heritage to anyone, but I finally could. This is going to be interesting...
"What secret? Quinn, what do you have to tell me?" Lydia wondered, she didn't like to be kept in the dark about things. She didn't like to keep secrets from me, either. She always was honest with me and that's what she expected out of me.
"Lydi, I am a witch. My whole family, we are part of a witch coven. A vampire hunting coven... Long long time ago my grandfather spared Alice. Then an agreement came where Alice would protect his bloodline, so Alice became my vampire guardian. Aaron also protects me too, since he is married and eternally bonded to Alice. So... surprise?"
Lydia was silent for a little while. What was she going to say? Was she not going to trust me? Would she be scared of me?
"Quinn, that is really cool... my best friend... a really honest to goodness witch. Amazing!" She smiled a little.
I was glad Lydia didn't freak out. Honestly, it looked like she felt more comfortable after I told her.
"So, Matthew, get ready for that trip, you are wasting the day."My dad said. I nodded and I ran up the stairs.
I went into my room and packed enough things. My dad came in, he smiled a little.
"You care about Lydi that much, huh?"
"Of course I do, she is my best friend. She has always been there for me. I never want something bad happen to her."
"Son, I think you have more feelings for her than you think. Follow your heart. Be careful, please." Then I gave him a hug, I didn't know what I really was getting into, but my dad knew I needed to help Lydia
I ran down the stairs and I hugged my mom.
"Be very careful, sweet heart. I love you." My mom said as I hugged her. " I love you too, mom."
We went out of my house, jumped in the car and waved goodbye.
"Alright, now, Lydia, you have many secrets to keep." Alice said and Lydia shyly smiled back. "I guess I do..."
"Now, since we have a really long trip. I guess its time to make it a little less gloomy and more fun." Aaron said and he popped in a CD.
Ride the Wind by Poison blared, we were riding the wind, and never coming back until we touched the midnight sun, or in our case until we go to the Vampire Council and hopefully find a cure for Lydia.
