Chapter IV
"I don't like the terms 'good person' or 'bad person' because it's impossible to be entirely good to everyone or entirely bad to everyone. To some, you are a good person, while to others, you are a bad person." ~Armin Arlert (Attack on Titan)
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
We rode the Gummi ship, freshly changed into our new clothes. Sora, relaxed in his seat with his arms behind his head, wore a a black v-neck t-shirt with white hemming, black shorts that are tight around the calves with gray pockets held on by red straps, a longer black hooded jacket with red hemming, gray pockets with white hemming, and red flannel flaps that are held down by a series of yellow buttons, black and yellow with the ankle and tongue of the shoe folded down, and a single black strap, gray fingerless gloves come to a "V" on his hands and are just short of his elbow with red hemming, a yellow strap around the wrist, and a silver circle plate on the back of the hand along with his silver crown necklace.
I was wearing a consists of a white long-sleeved, button-down shirt with a black ribbon on her shirt collar worn under a black shoulder cape and a matching button-down corset, a magenta skirt with white accents, and brown dress shoes over white crew-length socks
Aina had on a sleeveless white top with a plated grey design at the top of her shirt which made up the top half while the bottom half was mint green with six buttons, that had two black rectangles underneath the white portion of her top, along with matching arm pieces that she wore on her biceps, a sleeveless, high-neck black undershirt, a white cloth around her black skirt with a silver flower belt tat had a blue piece of cloth underneath it, black knee-high stockings and white boots with black heels that it folds over four times at the top, with white, gray, silver, and blue folds.
"Okay, where to?" Donald asked.
"Ummmmmm...." Sora gave it some thought.
"Oh, come on," Donald groaned. "Would you get serious?"
"Gimme a break, okay?" Sora said. "I told you. These things take time."
"Gawrsh, is it just me, or is this turning into a routine?" Goofy wondered as he scratched his head.
Suddenly, music started playing, though it wasn't coming from the Gummi Ship. We all sat up straight, listening to see where it was coming front. "Huh? What?" Donald asked.
"It's comin' from you, Sora!" Jiminy stated.
Sora looked confused as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a rectangular-shaped object that had a vertical black design, a horizontal red frame, a gold-plated decoration at the top of the object as well as golden spikes on the back of this. The object had the screen with a ringing telephone playing on it as well as a green and red button. "What's this?" Sora questioned.
"Got me!" Donald snapped as Sora shook the object. "Make it stop!"
"But, I don't know how," Sora rubbed the back of his head. "Maybe...this." He pressed the green button, which caused the screen to shoe Dale while the red button now hovered underneath the screen.
"Hurray!" Dale cheered, jumping up and down. "He picked up."
"Huh? Dale?" Sora cried.
"Hey, Chipper, I finally got him!" Dale called for his companion, Chip. "Hurry up, Chip!"
Chip came sliding on screen. "Well! It's about time," he said.
"Chip?" Sora asked.
"You gotta answer the phone, Sora, or we can't give ya updates," Dale instructed. We got lots and lots of important stuff we want to tell ya!"
"That's why we asked Master Yen Sid to make sure you got this Gummiphone we made ya," Chip explained. "So we'd be able to stay in touch with you at all times."
"And it takes pictures," Dale added.
"Pictures...?" I questioned, feeling my excitement growing.
"Oh no," Sora groaned.
"IT CAN TAKE PICTURES?!" I screamed. I began to shake Sora like crazy, nearly knocking him off the chair. "Sora! You GOTTA let me take a few pictures with your Gummiphone! Please! I have to know how good it is!" I pleaded.
"Don't worry, Sakura," Chip laughed on the other end of the Gummiphone. "You and Aina have one too."
"I do?" I asked, reaching into my skirt pocket and pulling out a Gummiphone identical to the one Sora had. "OH YES!" I squealed as I spun around, phone in hand as I grabbed Aina. "Aina! We have to take a picture!"
"Wait, hold on--" she cried out but I didn't wait for her response as I held the phone up and smiled, snapping the side button and quickly snapped a picture. Once I saw the camera flash, I held my Gummiphone in front of me and saw how the picture turned out. "Oh my gosh, the pictures look even better on here than on the camera Kairi gave me!" I shrieked. Although I wasn't able to get a physical photo from the Gummiphone, it was a price worth paying for pictures that looked this good.
Jiminy jumped onto Sora's shoulder. "Oh!" He said. "You finally finished it! Say, with this Gummiphone, we can talk to each other across worlds. In fact, I might even try writing my journal on it."
"Wow!" Sora admired the gift given to him. "Sounds like it's pretty handy, guys. So, what's so important?"
"This! Back when you and Riku quested through the Sleeping Worlds, Riku recovered some secret research data that Ansem the Wise hid inside you," Chip explained.
"Ansem's Code!" Dale announced.
"Mm-hmm," Chip nodded. 'We've been workin' our tails off trying to crack it and see what it says."
The screen flashed, revealing Zexion on the other side with a white lab coat on. "The data has been encrypted, so we've only deciphered some of it," he explained.
"Huh?" Sora looked confused.
"Zexion!" I said.
"Oh...I guess we haven't spoken since the castle," Zexion realized.
"Saki, you know this guy?" Sora whispered at me.
"Yeah, we met under...special circumstances," I stated, remembering my time at Castle Oblivion. "Don;t worry about it too much."
"I'm Ienzo," Zexion introduced himself to those who didn't know him. I guess like Lea, Iezno was his original name before he became a Nobody. "Aelous is here too." Ienzo shifted the Gummiphone so we could see Aelous, in a Hollow Bastion guard uniform, stare at the Gummiphone momentarily before looking away. "Aelous, whatever's between you and Roxas, it's in the past," Ienzo said as he walked away. He sighed, "Sora, the reason we're here is because you and your friends defeated our Nobodies, thereby 'recompleting' us. We cast off our hearts by choice, make no mistake, but we didn't know that Xemnas-or rather, Xehanort-was deceiving us."
"Huh? Xemnas?" Sora asked.
"Aw, he's with them!" Goofy said/
"Not anymore," Ienzo informed us. "Xemnas and Xehanort have no hold over us now. We're just students of the heart, exactly the same before all of this began."
"Yeah, right," Donald scoffed.
Goofy gave what izeno said some thought, "But ya know, now that I think about it, Axel's on our side now."
"We have friends we want to bring back to this world, just the same as you," Ienzo explained. "To do that, we have to work together. In that spirit, Sora... we found some intriguing data in the bit of code we deciphered."
"Is it about me?" Sora asked.
"Yes," Iezno replied. "In order to piece your memories back together, our teacher, Ansem the Wise, took a close look at your heart. And what he found...is that your heart doesn't belong just to you."
"It doesn't?" Donald, Goofy, Jiminy, Aina and I cried out.
"Gawrsh, you don't seem surprised," Goofy remarked.
"Yeah," Sora nodded. "Honestly, I suspected as much. There's another heart inside mine. I think it's Roxas'. Just like Naminé is still inside Kairi's."
"Interesting...Well, no one knows your heart better than you," Ienzo commented. "To be honest, we still have a plethora of questions on our side, but...the idea has merit. It's incredible enough that you and your Nobody are able to coexist. If you share a heart...no wonder someone as remarkable as you caught Ansem the Wise's eye. We'll keep investigating based on your hypothesis. I'll be in touch."
Ienzo hung up, the screen flashing back to Chip and Dale. "Okeydokey, we'll give you fellas a ring if there's anything else," Dale informed us. Remember, me and Chip, the guys at Radiant Garden, and King Mickey and everybody are never far away."
"And Jiminy, would ya do us a favor?" Chip asked. "Teach Sora how to use the Gummiphone."
"Leave it to me!" Jiminy smiled as Chip and Dale hung up.
Sora set the Gummiphone down. "I have to find Roxas and save him," he said. "The others are following Aqua's heart, so I'll follow Roxas' heart!"
Donald, Goofy, Jiminy, Aina and I nodded in agreement. "Trust the guidance that your heart gives ya, Sora," Goofy told him. "That's what Master Yen Sid said."
"Where to?" Donald asked again.
"Oh, that's easy," Sora grinned.
*~*~*~*~*~
Arriving in Twilight Town, we walked around the Marketplace. "Gawrsh, we forgot to fill Master Yen Sid in on what happened," Goofy said. "Should we go back?"
"Typical Sora," Donald sighed.
"Hmm...you mean about Maleficent and Xigbar?" Sora asked. "No, the others have already enough on their plates as it is. Why go stressing them out? The five of us know how to handle a couple of old adversaries, right?"
"Yeah, I guess..." Donald reluctantly agreed.
"But doesn't that thing Pete said bother ya?" Goofy asked.
"The black box?" Donald questioned.
"Come on, we're talking about Pete," Sora rolled his eyes. "That means it's probably no big deal."
"I don't know..." Goofy trailed as the tram passed by us, ringing its bell as it rode on the track.
"Oh, cool," Sora smiled. "The trams are still here!"
"Sora, it hasn't been that long," Donald said.
"Feels like it," Sora shrugged.
"Maybe you're feeling what Roxas feels 'cause he misses home," Goofy pointed out.
"Mm-hmm," Sora nodded. "Actually, I ran into Roxas in the Sleeping Worlds. It was like...seeing into his heart for the first time."
"And he was in the datascape, too," Donald added.
"Uh-huh," Goofy said. "It was a test to see if your data version was ready to face the hurt that ya carry inside."
"Was I ready?" Sora asked as he looked down at his hands. "I do know hurt. When I lost Riku, Kairi and Saki, and later when I lost the Keyblade, and you guys had to go on without me like that...having no one to turn to was the worst kind of hurt. But that just shows how much you mean to me."
I felt guilt began to eat me as I approached Sora and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'm sorry, Sora," I apologized. "But I didn't want Riku to hurt you any more back then.
"That's alright," Sora smiled at me. "Carrying around a little hurt can't be all that bad. Hurting is a part of caring."
"He sounds like Data-Sora did," Donald whispered to Goofy.
"Of course," Goofy nodded. "Any Sora's still Sora."
"So wait...if Roxas feels something, then we're in the right place," Sora realized. "Roxas, I'm gonna find you!" Suddenly, Sora blinked. "Huh?' He asked in a daze.
"What is it?' Donald questioned.
Behind Sora, Dusks spawned and we all got into our battle positions. "Nobodies!" Goofy growled.
Luckily, being one of the weakest kind of Nobodies to exist, they were no problem to take out, once we had finished them off, we dispelled our weapons and regrouped. "Hmm...what was that voice?' Sora wondered. "I know I heard it."
"I didn't hear it," Donald stated.
"Same here," Aina shook her head as I shrugged, not knowing what Sora was talking about.
"You sure it wasn't the wind?" Goofy asked. "Or somethin' else?"
"I'm pretty sure..." Sora replied.
"Where'd they come from!" A voice cried.
"Get the ice cream later!" Another voice shrieked.
"What? Hold up!" Someone else yelled.
"See? Voices!" Sora smiled. Donald and Goofy shared a confused look as Goofy scratched his head.
"Sora, I don't think those were the voices you had in mind..." I stated.
"...new ones?" Sora cried as he turned around, seeing Hayner, Pence, and Olette round the corner. "What?" Sora said. "Hayner? Pence! Olette!" Behind them, the Demon Tide was closing in on them.
"What is that?" Goofy cried as we all shrieked at the huge wave of incoming Shadow Heartless chasing the trio down.
"Heeey, Sora! Sakura!" Hayner gave us a quick wave as they sprinted past us. "Hello! Goodbye!"
"Go!" Sora yelled as we drew our weapons, with the Demob Tide beginning to swirl in front of us. "We got this."
Chasing after the tide of Shadow Heartless, we Sora, Donald, Aina and I threw our spell we knew in the book at the Demon Tide in order to reduce their numbers while Goofy chucked his shield at them. Although it did reduce their numbers, it wasn't enough. The Shadow's beady yellow eyes turned red as they became more aggressive. Finally, Sora leapt in the air and held his Keyblade out, swirling it around in random directions before releasing a giant orb that dispersed out into smaller orbs, attacking the swarm, which was Sora's shotlock.
Finally, the tide went up into the sky and it fled from battle, disappearing to wherever it came from. Dispelling our weapons, we turned around to see Hayer, Pence and Olette approaching us. "Nice fightin'!" Hayner complimented with a grin. "Thanks, Sora, Sakura and, um..."
"Aina," Aina introduced herself with a respectful bow. "Aina Mirai."
"And Aina," Hayner finished.
"Hayner, Pence, Olette," Sora smiled. "It's been ages!"
"What?" Hayner questioned Sora as he ran up to him. "It hasn't been that long."
"Ya see?" Donald pointed out as we came up to Sora.
"Donald! Goofy!" Olette grinned. "How are ya?"
"We're good," Donald replied.
"Howdy there, Olette," Goofy waved at her.
"So does this mean that weird stuff's going down again?" Pence asked.
"You kidding, Pence?" Hayner cried, placing his fists om his sides as he leaned towards Pence. "When have we ever seen a tornado of shadowy blobs before?" Hayner threw his arms up into the air, exacerbated. "It's not 'weird'. This is unprecedented."
"Hmm, I guess it is," Pence gave it some thought. "The creatures from last time were bright white. These things must be new. Man, I can't wait to get to sleuthin'."
"We're already done with the school project, silly," Olette said. "Whatever's going on, you wouldn't be here unless you had a good reason."
"Which is?" Hayner asked.
"Well, actually, we're looking for Roxas," Sora replied.
"Roxas?" Olette questioned.
"That's funny...I don't know any Roxas, but the name sounds familiar," Hayner muttered.
"Maybe we bumped into him somewhere," Pence proposed.
"Uh, that's one way to put it," Donald said as he shared a sideways glance with Goofy.
"Actually, he mighta been friends with another version of ya," Goofy pointed out as he pulled out a picture, handing it to Hayner. It was the photo with Hayner, Pence, Olette and Roxas in front of the gates to the Haunted Mansion from the digital Twilight Town. The photo was from the box we received while in the dark void.
"This photograph..." Olette's eyes widened.
"Yeah," Pence nodded. "We've got the same one." He pulled out a photo identical to the one Hayner had in his hands right now, minus Roxas.
"Oh yeah?" Hayner remembered. "The other Twilight Town!"
"It's like one of those 'spot the difference' puzzles...except really easy," Pence stated. "I guess in that town, we're friends with this 'Roxas' person.
"Sora, let us help you track Roxas down," Hayner offered help, Olette and Pence nodding in agreement.
"Really?" Sora grinned.
"Sure, he seems like a pretty cool guy," Hayner replied, looking back to the photo he had in hand.
"Yeah," Sora nodded. "He is!"
"Great," Pence said. "Then let's all go ask around town." "If alternate-us knew Roxas, then maybe alternate-other folks did too."
"Mm-hmm," Olette hummed in agreement. "Sora, you five should go to the place in the photo. It's the old mansion. The three of us'll cover places in town."
"Thanks," Sora said. "Oh yeah! I got this phone thingy that takes pictures." Sora pulled out the Gummiphone. "Want to snap a photo while we're all here?" He asked.
"Sure," Hayner agreed.
"That's a great idea!" Pence's faces brightened.
We all posed where we where for the picture, only something was off. "Wait a minute," I said. "Who's taking the photo again?"
Realizing the mistake, we got out of position and decided to draw straws on who got to sit out and take the photo. Donald, drawing last, had to take the picture. As Hayner, Pence, Olette, Sora, Aina and I posed for the picture, Donald positioned Sora's Gummiphone for the picture. He lowered it, irritated. "Why do I have to do it?" He yelled.
"Hey, tough luck," Sora stated. "You drew the short straw."
"It's okay," Goofy assured Donald. "I'm sittin' outta the photo with ya, Donald."
"Then you take the photograph!" Donald shoved the Gummiphone into Goofy's hands as we walked over to where we were and posed for the picture along with us.
"Everybody smile. A-hyuck!" Goofy held the phone over his eyes and tapped the button on the side, the sound of a camera clicking as the photo was taken.
Sora took the Gummiphone back as we took a look at the picture. "Wow, that came out great!" Hayner admired.
"I know, right?" I gushed over the picture. Hey, what can I say? I was a photographer, of course I'd be freaking out on how good the quality the picture looks even at the distance.
"Oh!" Olette pointed at the screen of the Gummiphone. "A lucky emblem."
On the brick wall between Hayner's and Olette's heads, was a mouse head-shaped imprint. "Lucky emblem?" Sora asked.
"Oh yeah, they are huge right now," Olette sated. "Supposedly, these things are hidden all over town. And if get a picture of them, they'll bring you good luck.
"Cool!" Sora, Donald, Goody, Aina and I said.
"Wait," Sora looked back at his Gummiphone, pointing at the screen. "Look, guys! Is that..."
"You're right!" Goofy nodded as we looked at the screen. "I see it too!"
"Is it the King?" Donald asked. Taking a second look at the imprint, it did resemble King Mickey's head.
"I knew it," Sora smiled.
"Good luck, because they're not all this easy to find," Olette said, putting her hands behind her back.
"Okay, we'd better start asking around," Hayner stated. "You start by checking out the old mansion. We'll catch up."
"Got it," Sora nodded.
Heading towards the Haunted Mansion by taking a route through the the Underground Conduit, we went through the woods where at the base of a tree, scattered about, were various fruits. "What's that?" Donald asked as my eyes followed the trail of fruits to the tree. Climbing up the tree were monkey Heartless.
"Heartless!" Goofy cried.
"What do ya think they're up to?" Sora questioned.
Looking closer at the Heartless' movements, on one of the branches, was a blue rat. "Look!" Goofy pointed out. "On that branch. The Heartless have him surrounded!"
"Oh no!" Sora cried.
"Let's help!" Donald shouted.
"Yeah!" Sora nodded.
Drawing our weapons, we fought off the monkey Heartless on the ground and the ones climbing up the tree. Seeing that the danger was over, the rat climbed down the tree to face us, nodding its head in thanks. "Well, take care," Sora waved as we turned around to head towards the Haunted Mansion.
As we were walking away, the rat suddenly popped up on Sora's head, grabbed two tiny fistfuls of his spikes, and yanked, forcing Sora to spin around on his feet. "Whoa!" He cried as he the controlled Sora, making him move around stiffly, like a robot. "Wh-what the--?"
"Are you okay?" Donald asked as the rat made Sora bend down, pick up and apple with one hand.
"Lookie!" Goofy grinned. "That little feller's parked on your head."
Seeing Sora move around like that was so funny, so I burst out laughing. Aina giggled, but looked away and covered her mouth his her hand in order to be polite. "Huhhh?" Sora asked as the rat yanked Sora's head. "Would you cut that out--" he started but bent down and picked up another apple.
"Sora, you've been hijacked," Donald snickered.
"Sora, I can't believe it," I doubled over, laughing. "You faced off millions of Heartless and defeated two supervillains in order to save the universe, and this little rat is what gets you?"
"Ya know, maybe he wants you to pick up the fruit for him," Goofy pointed out.
The rat nodded, seeing how Goofy got the message. "Okay, that's fine," Sora sighed as the rat climbed off his head and onto the apple Sora held. "But I can do it by myself." He turned to face the rat. "I just need to collect the fruit?" The rat nodded again as Sora turned to face the scattered fruit. "Alright, then," he said.
Helping Sora pick up the fruit, we made one huge pile of fruit just as the rat requested. We squatted down to be at its level. "So, what're you gonna do with all this, anyway?" Sora asked.
The rat began to make gestures with its paw, making a karate chop motion and flicked its paw like it was scattering something. Sora tipped his head to the side, confused at what its trying to say. Sora gave us al looks but we shrugged, unsure of what the rat was saying. It sighed, a bit frustrated. "Well, okay," Sora replied as we stood up. "You be careful going home."
We turned to leave. "Bye-bye!" Donald yelled.
"See ya 'round!" Goofy waved as we continued on our original mission to get to the Haunted Mansion.
Arriving at the mansion, we saw that the meta gates were opened so we went into the garden, standing in front of the ancient house. Glancing to the side, I saw the white lace curtains of the room Naminé used to inhabit and spend all her time in. The pleasant memories of the time we spent together filled my mind and I had a small smile on my face.
But then, I remembered that strange file I found in my room when we were last back here and I frowned, remembering how the pictures were inside. I still had no answer to that. That missing person, Xion, what exactly happened to them? How did I know them? And, why were they gone from my pictures?
"Whaddaya think, guys?" Sora asked, interrupting my train of thought. "This place is even creepier than I remembered."
"Well, they do say that this mansion is haunted," Goofy said as Donald trembled at the thought of it.
"Hey there," a voice greeted us, placing a hand on Sora's shoulder. They scared Sora, Donald and Goofy, as they jumped, shrieking as they turned around. Turns out, it was just Hayner, Pence and Olette, who looked surprised at how frightened Sora, Donald and Goofy were.
"Thanks for the heart attack!" Sora sighed.
"Oh, what?" Hayner smirked. "Did I scare you?"
Sora sputtered as Donald shouted, "Not a chance!"
"Our bad," Olette apologized, giggling a bit.
"So how did it go?' Sora asked. "Did ya get any leads?"
Hayner gave a look to Pence, who spoke up, "Nope, 'fraid not. The asking around thing was a total bust."
"Yup," Hayner nodded. "This old mansion is our last hope."
"You guys ready?" Olette asked.
"Another Twilight Town awaits!" Pence grinned.
Sora turned to face the mansion, looking at it once more. "Yeah," he nodded.
We went inside the mansion and down into the old computer lab where the alternate Twilight Town could be accessed. "Here we go!" Hayner said as he ran up to the computers. He sat down on the chair and began typing. "The password was...uh...'sea-salt ice cream', right?" He asked. After pressing a few keys, the computer was unlocked. "Okay, I'm in," he nodded. "Let's get that transporter working..." Pence pressed a few keys, which made the computer monitor flash "DATA ERROR" in red. Panicked, Pence pressed some more keys but to no avail. "Oh, man," he sighed. "The transporter's been protected."
"Who did it?" I asked. "I thought we were the last ones here from the last time we came."
"Protected from what?" Sora said.
"I guess from us?" Pence shrugged. "We can't use it to get to the other Twilight Town."
"Why not?" Hayner questioned. "It worked before! We sent Sora and Sakura there!"
"Well that was then, and this is now," Pence shrugged.
"And there's no other way?" Olette asked.
"None that I know," Pence stated.
"Great," Sora sighed. After a minute of silence, the same ringtone from earlier was playing. Hayner gave Sora a puzzled look as Sora dug through his pockets and pulled out his Gummiphone, pressing the green button to accept the call.
Ienzo's face appeared on the Gummiphone screen. "Hello, Sora," he greeted. "You wouldn't happen to be in front of a computer?"
"Huh? Well...yeah," Sora replied. "But how'd you know that?"
"I was tinkering with Ansem's computer-you know, to decrypt the Code that was left in it?" Ienzo stated. "And I noticed that someone had logged in from another terminal. I figure it might be you."
"Oh!" Sora realized. "Yeah, the log terminal."
"You don't know what he said," Donald said.
Sora bent down, keeping the Gummiphone in the air so he couldn't listen in to the conversation. "Oh, and what, you do?" He hissed at Donald.
"I know I haven't got a clue," Goofy said.
"Sorry," I shrugged. "The only person I saw working that thing was Ansem the Wise."
"I haven't got the slightest clue on where to even start on that," Aina added.
Ienzo laughed from his end of the conversation. "Then, uhh...who was it that logged in?" He asked.
"Oh, hi there," Pence greeted Ienzo, turning around on his seat to face the Gummiphone. "This is Pence. I'm the one who logged into the computer."
"Good," Ienzo nodded. "As long it's a user that we know we can trust."
"Yup," Pence nodded. "But, I'm kind of stuck here. One of the programs is protected, so...I can't run it."
"Which program?" Izeno said.
"The transporter to the other Twilight Town!" Hayner yelled, cutting into the conversation. Iezno looked surprised at seeing a new face."It's the only way to find Roxas," Hayner explained. "You gotta help us."
"Another Twilight Town?" Ienzo muttered. "And a 'transporter'? Okay...a virtual town inside a computer, made of data."
"A datascape!" Jiminy cried, climbing out of Sora's hood. "Fellas..."
"Mm-hmm, we've seen one," Goofy nodded. "That's what we used once to investigate Jiminy's journal."
"Maybe I can do something," Ienzo offered. "Pence, let's get a network set up. My address here is..."
*~*~*~*~*~
Ienzo and Pence worked together on the computer as they tried to work through whatever that needed to be worked through. I had dazed off and stopped paying attention to what they were doing a long time ago, while the anticipation pf maybe finding a bit more information on Roxas was killing me. Aina was rocking back and forth on her feet, staring at Pence's work but understanding none of it. Hayner, Olette, Donald and Goofy stood off to the side, watching as well while Sora fell asleep standing up. I thought it wasn't possible, but hey, this is Sora we're talking about here.
A sound played from Ienzo's side of the call. "Okay, sharing is enabled," he announced.
"Huh?" Sora jerked awake, holding his phone up. "Were you able to fix it?"
"Now that our two computers have been successfully networked together, I can take control of the terminal there and change the privileges..."
"And Roxas?" Sora asked.
"Yes," Ienzo replied. "For the virtual world to be completely realized, Ansem the Wise would've included Roxas' full data in the construction. Meaning, somewhere in your machine there's a log of data that--" Ienzo paused, trying to find the right words to say so Sora could understand what was going on. "Uhh...basically, we can decipher Ansem's Code more quickly, and we can analyze the virtual Twilight Town while we're at it."
"Okay. Great!" Sora grinned. "I can't computer so...do that." I snickered at Sora's comment while he playfully shoved my head.
"Glad you're following along," Ienzo said. "Don't worry, we'll handle it. Chip and Dale will be helping me out here on this end. I'll call you back as soon as we know anything more."
"Thanks," Sora nodded.
"Oh, before I forget-a bit of troubling news," Ienzo stated. "It's about one of the Organization's former members. You knew him as Vexen-but to us he was Ansem's apprentice Even. He was completed like the rest of us, but hadn't regained consciousness yet. Then, sometime after Lea left, Even vanished. Aeleus and Dilan, the two you knew as Lexaeus and Xaldin-they went out looking for him, but...he's just gone. And I'm starting to worry."
"You think he's on their side?" Sora asked.
"I think it's a real possibility," Ienzo nodded. "He's a devious researcher. You should be careful."
"All right," Sora nodded. "Thanks." He hung up the Gumiphone.
"Oh no!" Hayner shouted as he began to leave. "We got work! I totally forgot."
"Really?" Pence raised a brow. "But what about all this?"
"Hey, both are important," Hayner justified. "We're gonna need some cash to go to the beach. Also, don't forget the pretzels. Gotta buy four now."
Pence looked confused as he began to count the number of people going on the trip before he realized, "Ohh, I get it."
"He's thinking ahead," Olette stated.
"Later, Sora!" Hayner waved as he left.
"Yeah," Sora said. "See ya, Hayner!"
"Bye, Donald! Goofy! Sakura! Aina!" Olette waved as well as she began to leave.
"Good-bye!" Donald, Goofy, Aina and I waved to Olette as she began to leave.
"Oh, and since I'm manning the computer here you guys're in charge of earning my share," Pence said.
"No pretzel for Pence," Hayner teased as he left. Olette giggled as she followed.
"Hey!" Pence cried before groaning, causing all of us to laugh.
*~*~*~*~*~
We soon left the Haunted Mansion, seeing that there was nothing left for us to do there. As we passed by the metal gates, a voice remarked behind us, "So, you think you can bring Roxas back?"
Turning around, Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, stood, arms crossed as he wore the Organization coat instead of his usual getup. "Ansem!" Sora shouted as we jumped, seeing our nemesis from our first journey out into the worlds. A Corridor of Darkness appeared and stepping out of it, was Xemnas. "Xemnas!" Sora gasped.
"Roxas should never have existed in the first place," Xemnas stated. "What you seek is impossible."
"Roxas does exist," Sora restored. "His heart's inside my heart."
"And in the unlikely event you did manage to separate the two, where is it you think you can put his heart?"
"Well...Roxas used to live in the other Twilight Town, right?" Sora pointed out. "So, I'm just gonna put him back there."
"Do you even realize what you are saying?" Ansem sneered. 'The other Twilight Town is just data."
"A heart can live anywhere," Sora declared. "Even inside data. There are hearts all around us."
Goofy gave some thought to what Sora said, "Ansem and Xemnas used to be part of the same person, right? But look. Now, they exists separately just fine. If they can do it, I don't see any reason why you and Roxas can't find a way."
"Oh...yeah!" Sora yelled, understanding Goofy's point.
"Yeah!" Donald cheered. "You tell 'em, Captain Goofy!"
"Looks like you're point fell apart from the start," I smirked at the two.
"In that case, by all means," Ansem said.
"Nothing would please us more than Roxas' return, of course," Xemnas stated.
'You wish," Sora snarled. "He'll never answer to you again."
"Still so blind," Xemnas sighed. "A Nobody is what's left behind when one gives his heart to darkness. There is only one way to bring Roxas back, which is for you to give your heart up as well. Sora, have you finally decided to call upon the darkness?"
Xemnas pointed his finger at Sora. "What?" He questioned.
"Go on then," Ansem encouraged. "The shadows are never out of reach."
Behind us, Neoshadows appeared and we gasped. Xemnas waved his hand, summoning up the Dusks as well. Sora glared at the two. "Now, set your heart free," they stated simultaneously, reaching out with one of their arms as they disappeared into a Corridor of Darkness together.
"Wait!" Sora shouted as he prepared to chase them down.
"Sora!" Donald and Goofy cried out. Aina and I had our Keyblades out and we began to cut down the Neoshadows and Dusks one by one.
"It's not darkness!" Sora said as he summoned his Keyblade and joined us in battle. "Not if it helps him!"
After ridding ourselves of the Neoshadows and Dusks, we dispelled our weapons and Sora began to daze off into the distance. Donald and Goofy exchanged a concerned look while Aina approached him. "Sora, are you alright?' She asked out of concern.
"Herc said...he said, 'With all my heart'," Sora stated and Aina stepped back. "Okay. Then all my heart it is. I'm getting Roxas out." He turned back to face us. "Are you with me, Donald? Goofy? Saki? Aina?"
"You betcha!" Donald and Goofy cheered.
"Heck yeah, of course!" I yelled.
"I may not know fully what is going on, but I support you, Sora," Aina nodded.
"I don't know what Ansem and Xemnas want, but I think we'd better tell the others to watch out," Sora said.
"Yeah," Donald nodded.
"Okay then," Goofy said. "Let's head back to town."
Sora nodded as we returned to Twilight Town, we passed by a bistro, where a familiar voice called out to us. "Well, bless my bagpipes!" They yelled. "It was you laddies and ladies who rescued my chef."
Walking out of a café, which had a small canopy on the front of it and a red sign in glowing white light that said "Le Grand Bistro" on it was Uncle Scrooge McDuck, holding a white box in one hand. "It's Uncle Scrooge!" Donald shouted.
Uncle Scrooge waved at us with his cane. "huh? Wait...didn't he sell ice cream in Hollow Bastion?" Sora asked.
"Yeah," I nodded, vaguely remembering that sweet yet salty taste of the ice cream that later helped me remember Xion.
"That's right," Goofy said. "But Uncle Scrooge here's what you might call a world traveler."
"Cool," Sora said as Donald ran up to his uncle and we followed.
"How are ya, Uncle Scrooge?" Sora greeted.
"Oh! Hello, Sora!" Uncle Scrooge said. "You're lookin' hale and hearty, along with your friend, Sakura, and Aina."
"Hello to you, Mr. Scrooge," Aina nodded.
"Oh, Uncle Scrooge, you know who Aina is?" I asked, surprised.
"Oh course!" He smiled. "We met long before you came along. She runs a fortune telling shop in Hollow Bastion. As far as I've heard, she's never been wrong in her tellings."
"You run a fortune telling shop?" I turned to face Aina.
"Mm-hmm!" She nodded.
"How do you tell other people's fortune?" I said.
"I told you before-I have the power to foresee the future," she replied. "I'll show it to you sometime laster."
"OH!" Sora yelled, scaring us. "That's where we first met, Aina! I wandered into your shop and was about to have my fortune told before Saki dragged me out!"
"You did?' Aina blinked, searching her memories. "Oh, you;re right, Sora! Now I remember!"
"That's what you were doing last time?" I asked.
"Yeah," Sora laughed.
"Anyways, I heard ye were on another grand adventure with these four," Scrooge cut into the conversation. "I hope Donald is making a menace of himself."
"Why did you have to say that?" Donald whined, shaking his head.
"So, Uncle Scrooge, what's that you were sayin' about a chef?" Goofy asked.
"Oh! Right, right," Uncle Scrooge remembered, "The chef of me bistro here wanted to show ye his appreciation, so he baked this for ye."
Sora took the box from Uncle Scrooge's hand. "What is it?" Sora asked before opening it. We all gasped in delight at what was inside. Inside, was a vanilla cake line with white frosting on top with alternating apple and peach slices with kiwi, strawberries and blueberries on top of it as well.
"Wow! A cake!" We cried. My mouth began watering at the sight of it. Sometimes, my gluttonous attitude can be a real problem sometimes.
"The whole cake? It's for us?" Sora smiled.
Uncle Scrooge's aht began to shake, which caused Sora to let out a confused sound. "Aye, settle down...the chef wants ye to know it's not a cake, but a tarte aux fruits," Uncle Scrooge corrected.
"He does?" Goofy asked.
"Why keep it under my hat?" Uncle Scrooge sighed as he took off his top hat, revealing the blue rat from earlier. "May I introduce...Little Chef," Uncle Scrooge told us as the blue rat climbed down from the top of his head to the the top of his hat.
"Oh! It's you!" Sora said.
"Uncle Scrooge, you opened a bistro in Twilight Town?" Donald questioned.
"Aye," Uncle Scrooge nodded. "It all started a little while ago, when I was enjoying one of the best meals of my life. And when I asked to speak to the chef, I met this wee genius. As it turns out, he wanted to expand his culinary horizons. So I thought: that's an opportunity. And I financed the while operation." Little Chef made gestures with his hand, which Uncle Scrooge understood. "Ooh, I think he wants to cook some more for ye," Uncle Scrooge said. "Fetch some ingredients. Especially anything unusual."
"That'll be fun!' Goofy jumped into the air. "Kinda like a scavenger hunt."
"An' the more the better," Uncle Scrooge added. "The mark of a truly great chef is creating masterpieces out of anything. Ye can start right here in town."
"We'll do anything to try more of Little Chef's food," Sora said.
"Yeah!" Donald cheered.
"That tarte sure did look scrumptiously delicious," Goofy added.
"Okay!" Sora nodded. "The ingredient hunt is on."
As soon as Sora said that, a voice yelled out, "Hey! Guys!"
turning around, we saw Hayner and Olette running up to us. "AHayner! Olette!" Sora greeted.
"Hey, boss," Hayner said as Uncle Scrooge approached the two. "Done with the posters."
We shot Uncle Scrooge confused looks as he said,m "Aye, good work kids."
"You guys work for Uncle Scrooge here at the bistro?" Goofy asked.
"Umm...do we?' Hayner shot a look at Olette.
Olette pulled out a rolled up poster. "He gave us a short job putting up these special posters," he explained as she unrolled it, showing it to us. "Mr. McDuck's hositing an open-air film festival in the courtyard. Cool, huh?"
We leaned in, taking a closer look at the poster. On it, it said "Mickey & Sora in 'Giantland'" On the front there was a hulking hairy giant in a tunicwith a big, spiked club while King Mickey, resembling his older form in Timless River, stood on the giant's hand, ready to throw some punches at him. In the background, was a trail leadsing to a castle on a hill overlooking the ocean. "Oh, Sora..." Olette started, putting the poster down. "Hold your phone up to the poster."
"'Kaaay..." Sora took out his Gummiphone, set it to the canmera mode, and held it over a square-shaped, barcode-looking symbol at the bottom right of the poster. It made a noise when Sora took a picture of it.
"There, you've just downloaded a promo game for the film," Olette said. "You can try it later. You too, Sakura and Aina."
Aina and I pulled our our Gummuphones and did the same thing as Sora did to the poster, downloadng the game onto our phones as well. Donald turned to face Uncle Scrooge and asked, "You did all this, Uncle Scrooge?"
"Of course, laddie," Uncle Scrooge replied, taking a step forward towards Donald. "Provide a bit of entertainment, and then give folks a nice m cozy place to relax. Like me bistro here. They'll all be happy an' hungry, an' eager to spend their money."
Uncle Scrooge let out a sinsister laugh, revaling his ulterior motive as he turned around. "Uncle Scrooge..." Donald sighed.
"Gawrsh, he sure is canny," Goofy remarked. "I always wondered how he keeps customers comin' into businesses over and over."
"Oh, yeah, I'm no business guys, but I sure wouldn't wanna be one of Uncle Scrooge's competitors," Sora nodded.
"Seriously," Hayner sighed as we all laughed sfotly.
"Oh! Right," Sora said. "I need to warn you guys."
"Why?" Hayner asked.
"Well, those creepy crawly things might come back for more, so stay on your toes," Sora warned.
"Sure," Hayner replied. "But don't we have you guys to take care of 'em for us?"
"You have to leave again?" Olette gasped.
Sora nodded. "It's our job," Donald stated.
"But we'll definitely be back," Goofy promised.
"When ya gonna slow down?" Hyaner asked.
"Sorry," Sora aplogized. "Just do me a favor..."
"Well, what is it?" Hayner said. "Don't make it too tough."
"I know how Roxas feels," Sora stated. "To be lost. But Donald and Goofy...Kairi and Saki...brought me back by wishing with all their hearts." Donald, Goofy and I nodded, confirming Sora's statement from when the time he was turned into a Heartless. "So...I was hoping the three of you would do the same, and wish for Roxas," Sora asked.
"What? That's it?" Hyaner laughed. "That's no favor. We'll all wish. I'm wihin'."
"Yeah!" Olette agreed. "Me and Pence too."
"Thanks," Sora smiled.
