An Old 'Friend'

Kurai hadn't expected them to find her so fast. After a scolding from Aona, she was dragged back to the hotel.

She sat on the couch and hit her face with a pillow. How did they find me?!

She felt the weight of the couch shifted beside her and looked up a bit. Sumi sat next to her and patted her back. "It's alright. Don't worry so much. We'll help you find him."

Kurai faceplanted on the pillow again and let out a muffled groan. She shook her head at them. "It's going to be complicated. You don't find him. He finds you."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Samuru asked.

"Well..."

Kurai Kurofuchi:

I felt pretty awkward telling that story, but also relieved because they manage to understand it so quickly.

I went to the stadium, where the North GP was held a year ago, along with Ryan since we're bored and we haven't seen anyone since breakfast.

Though by the time we got here  there was already someone else using the breakball game.

When the person noticed us, he smiled and waved. "Hey! Kurai! Been a while, huh?"

I blinked. "Lance?"

The said boy gave a thumbs up. "The one and only. What brings you around here?"

"We got bored."

"Who's 'we'?"

"This is my friend, Ryan Tsunosuki."

"Nice to meet you, Ryan."

"Hmph. Whatever!"

". . . Though guy act much?"

"You have no idea."

"Wanna join me at breakball?"

"Sure!"

After playinga few rounds, Ryan went back to the hotel cause he was cold. Lance and I sat in the snow.

"So what have you been up to lately?" I asked.

"The usual. Most especially trying to stay as far as possible from that jerk of a brother you have." He snarled slightly.

"Are you still angry about what happened 4 years ago?"

"We have a right to! We worked hard and he just goes off, ruining it!"

"How do you know it was even him?"

"He was the only one in the class! Of course it had to be him."

"What if it was someone else who went in and destroy them then left?"

". . . What are you saying?!"

"I'm saying that you guys are taking it off the wrong way. What if it wasn't him? What if all this conflict happened because of nothing?"

"You're basing this on a 'what if'?!"

"I've only been trying to stay neutral. Besides, he's my brother. I won't let anyone talk crap about him."

". . . Fine. But we still don't like the guy."

"That's not a problem for him anymore. He barely remmbers you now."

"What?!"

I groaned. "Forget it. Nevermind." I stood up and brushed myself off. I looked back down on him. "I'm guessing, after this argument, you aren't going to help me find Basara..."

He sat up. "What do you mean? What happened to that guy?"

"He disappeared last week. No one, not even the WBMA's heard of him since."

"Oh okay. Cool- I mean, oh no!"

"You don't have to fake it. I don't mind haters, so long as they have a proper reason for that hate."

"Noted." He stood up and sighed. "Well, it's no secret we hate the guy, but all the more reason to keep track of where he is to make sure no one else got hurt. And I can't really turn down a friend so..." Another sigh. "I'll help."

I smiled. "Really?"

"Don't expect me to stop being a hater though." He took out his phone and showed a map. "This is the last place and time we saw him, after that, he disappeared from radar."

"Thanks Lance. I owe you one."

"I hold on to your word."

I ran back to the hotel and found everyone waiting, as well as an angry Aona.

"Where have you been? You're arm is still-"

I gave her a look. "Aona, thank you for the concern, but there are more important things to talk about right now. A friend of mine saw Basara. Midnight at warehouse no. 5 on the east side of town."

"That's where tiger saw him go to last time!" Derek said. "Isn't that right, boss?"

"Indeed it is, Derek." Novu said, his chin in his palm. "I remember a tall man calling him 'son' as well."

"SON?!" They all looked at me when I facepalmed.

I sighed in irritation. "I was right after all. It was him who attacked us at the Snowbreak Grand Prix."

"Hold on, he's your father. Why would he want to hurt you?" Ken asked.

"Not me. Just Basara." I replied.

"But why?" Mitsuru asked.

"A lot of people hate him." I said shrugging. "Though I don't understand why. He never did anything wrong."

"You sure? Isn't he a delinquit?" Yuki asked.

"It's not his fault he was born with inhuman strenght and always ends up destroying everything that makes him happy, causing him to get angry and use violance as his way of raging out!" I argued. They went silent right after.

~~~~~
"So then, you told them?"
"I did."
"Good. If I know my little girl, and I do, she'll come rushing in here by tomorrow evening."
