Chapter Four

It took awhile for Dawnkit to figure out what would happen without Birdkit. They would become apprentices as she didn't. Dawnkit would probably end up more healthy too, if you know what I mean.
She flickered her eyes open. She was in the apprentice den, still lying down. Her eyes flickered a few more times and she got up slowly to her paws. The moss was dry, though it had rained a lot during the night.
As she padded outside, she Dawnkit noticed that half of the clan was crowding in a circle. Curiously, she stepped near and pushed herself in. The medicine cats, Breezestar, a few Warriors, the deputies, and one apprentice were arguing. Breezestar immediately stopped when he caught Dawnkit snickering as she saw how confused Frostflare was, which sent everyone silent.
"What are you doing?" Barkpaw, her older brother, asked.
She only shortened herself to a crouch and hissed.
"You're not the only one with questions!" Dawnkit defended herself and growled.
Barkpaw repeated once again. "What are you doing?" Dawnkit then gave herself up and explained why she was peeking through at them as they were arguing. Shadefang nodded. "Just be careful, this is not the argument you would want to be in."
Dawnkit coughed and pointed at Barkpaw with her tail. Shadefang gave her an odd look, and Dawnkit then rolled out.
Why is he listening then? She repeatedly said in her mind. Everyone always seemed to be unequal to her nowadays. She was just as responsible as her brother.
It just kept happening through the day. Dawnkit felt like ripping all the Toms fur off...
But wait... it was only the toms that were annoying her. Something was going on.
