Darkness
Sooner or later, you'll realize what being in the dark really means.

"So, what's the plan?"
Her voice rang throughout the almost empty room. Her words barely reaching him as the last ray of sunlight started to fade away. Diana never really liked sunsets. For an unknown reason, she was never a fan of it. It makes her feel uncomfortable.. but now is different. Somehow, a certain someone's presence kept her from feeling uncomfortable this time.
On the other hand, Bruce never really cared much about the time of day. To him, the only difference was the amount of light that would occasionally seep through his mansion's windows.
Batman didn't even looked up from his computer when he answered,
"I don't have a plan."
Which made the Amazon princess a little frustrated. Well, that's a first. She thought and reminded herself that she was here for their mission... Or atleast, that was what she wanted herself to believe.
Ocean blue eyes skimmed the dark room they were occupying. She noticed how untidy it was compared to the other rooms. Doesn't he even clean up once in a while?
The young warrior sighed, sitting gracefully on a wooden chair---that looked like it was worth a hundred dollars or so. She silently watched her "partner" enter codes into some system in his computer.
"You know, you're not getting any younger, Batman."
Momentarily he stopped typing, heaved an exasperated breath, then continued.
"Thanks for the reminder."
She frowned. Truthfully, even until this day Diana found it hard to have a decent conversation with men. They never failed in sparking a certain amount of curiosity in her. Are men always this rude? She could only wonder.
The raven-haired beauty stared out the window. I'm not getting any younger, too, am I?
"Bruce,"
"I don't have a plan.. at all. So whatever it is you're going to say, save it until the mission is over."
Wonder woman bit her lower lip to keep herself from saying anything more. She never wanted to engage in an argument with Batman. Why? Because it's useless. He's BATMAN for pete's sake! The Dark Knight. He can do anything with his money and brains. He needs no one.
Bruce Wayne can be a one man band if he wanted to.
And by the way he's acting, maybe he already is.
Unconsciously, she placed a hand over her chest. Something in her felt disappointed in that idea. Maybe Batman will be better off on his own? Everytime they were paired up for a mission, he'd always do more than half of the work. At times like these, Diana Prince wonders.. Where will she fit in after all of this?
Time ticked..
Hours passed..
Yet she still haven't thought of an answer. Oh, the joy! He doesn't even need me. So, I guess he wouldn't mind if I leave, right?
By the time she decided to stand up, darkness already engulfed the whole room. The only sound that can be heard is his frequent typing. Wonder woman shook her head in disapproval before gathering all the courage she had,
"I'm leaving."
It was only then did he decided to spare her a glance. He raised an eyebrow in question, still in full costume.
"When will you return?"
I guess he sensed something there. She bitterly debated the next lines she said,
"Depends.. But don't worry, I'll be back once you finally have a plan. Goodbye."
And with no more words to say, she exited the cold and almost empty room that felt like a prison cell to her. Diana will never understand a man's way, even if that man is Bruce Wayne himself.
And there, he was left alone.
Pondering on the words she left him with.
He couldn't think properly. Batman shook his head then turned to find the seat she once nestled on, empty. Suddenly, the silence evolved into something more. Something more sinister than the darkness that enveloped his being. And after a long time, he finally realized how pathetic the darkness was compared to what clenched at his heart, that very moment.
