Chapter 11
"Selene, wake up!"
I was shaken by a voice calling me, I could not identify it immediately. I slowly opened my eyes, thinking I was still resting on his chest. In front of me I saw only Ginevra who was staring at me with a questioning air. I might have believed it was just a wonderful dream if it weren't for his jacket still lying on my shoulders. I did not understand what had happened, I only remembered the softness of her lips and the comfort of her chest then I had like a void. I couldn't explain how I got home, I didn't remember anything. I turned around in disorientation as if I were in another dimension, I bringed my hand to my forehead as I sat lightly on the bed.
"How come you haven't changed? Were you late last night? "My cousin asked me with a mischievous smile.
"But no! Didn't you see me come back? "I asked trying to find out how I had come back. "No." he said with a shrug. "I waited for you until around one then I went to sleep. Both aunt and uncle had gone to sleep while Marika was talking on the phone. "
"Oh this time with whom? Giulio? Mark? George?"
"No, it was a girl ... wait what did he call her? Rachel? Romina? Ramona? Ah no Rebecca! I think she is a friend of hers. " She turned to leave when I grabbed her by the arm. "Rebecca? Are you sure? You don't know any Rebecca. "
"Yes, he repeated it several times."
What did Marika have to do with Rebecca? They had never been friends: Marika couldn't stand Rebecca and Rebecca couldn't stand Marika. This has always amazed me since they were both vain, they were superb, mounted, gossipers... they have so much in common. "Anyway ... is that beautiful jacket yours?"
I was shaken by those questions from Ginevra who continued to meddle. So rolling my eyes in amusement I began to answer her, since in the end she would discover everything the same.
"Yes it's his."
"Uh, how romantic it is! How did it go? What have you done? Where have you gone? What..."
"All right, calm down. We went to the beach and he ... that is, we were together for a while and we ... yes, in short ...
"Oh my God! How beautiful! I absolutely have to know him. "
"Sure, I'll let you know."
"Yes, but now we two have to go out. Change! Let's go to the bar! We have to make up a lot of time. "
"Agree."
I gently placed my jacket on the chair near my desk, lightly ironing some creases that had formed. I smiled like a fool with a dreamy look thinking back to last night. But was he and I a sort of 'engaged'? Maybe it just took a little time, I hope.
"Listen to Ginevra."
I called her, still stroking the jacket.
"Mh?"
"Do you know the legend of the beach of Eros?"
"What? Which legend? "
I smiled amused at the lost look he gave me.
"Mh maybe one day I'll tell you."
He shook his head indifferently as he selected a suit from the unpacked suitcase. I went into the bathroom forgetting to knock and the many people I found myself in the house. When I opened it I heard the splash of water from the shower and I glimpsed a figure in the purple box. When I became aware of his presence, I immediately closed the door, embarrassed. "Who is it?"
I closed my eyes and bit my lower lip hard.
"Um... I'm Selene, I had... I had to come in to take a shower. Sorry, I didn't know you were there. "
"Don't worry, I've almost done so."
I waited outside the door, my face burning with shame, but I was usually used to no one using that bathroom. Mum, dad and Marika used each other because the other was older and because there was a bathtub while I preferred the shower. Then interminable minutes that I spent on thorns, I went out with the towel tied to my waist. I hadn't noticed the muscles the day before. He had a lean but well-toned physique and with that usual pearly smile that lit up the room.
"You're welcome, I'm done anyway."
"Mh ... yes thanks and ... sorry again, I couldn't."
"Yes...I believe."
He said bursting out laughing and walking away. I don't know why, but that guy annoyed me a lot, he was very irreverent but much more outgoing than Ares, who hid behind his ice armor.
After the shower I put on a pair of trousers with a shirt.

"Perfect. Here we go?"
As soon as Ginevra opened the door, my mother came out of the kitchen and immediately railed at me.
"Selene, where are you going?"
I petrified on the spot. With the fact that yesterday I had managed to get out, I had forgotten that I was in detention. I was about to reply when Ginevra intervened.
"I wanted to spend some time with her, aunt, we haven't seen each other for a long time. Please? We will only be out for a few hours. "
"And it's okay just because Ginevra is with you."
"Yes, thanks aunt."
He took me by the arm and dragged me out. At the door we were distracted by a deep voice calling us.
"Hey girls, where are you going?"
"Oh just a little bit around. Let's go to the bar."
"Well, can I come too?"
I pressed my lips together, praying that Ginevra would say no.
"Sure Richard, come on."
I snorted irritably and we headed for the center.
"So Selene, shall we go to the usual place?"
"Yes, they make delicious croissants there."
"Where?"
"It's a bar we used to go to when we were little, it's called the Garden bar and we were very good friends with the owner."
"No they have changed managers."
"Oh Bob is he gone? Is there now? "
"A very nice lady, her name is Anna."
"Well I'm curious to know her, she's not from here though, I don't think I've ever heard of her."
"No, he's from a nearby town."
"Yesterday where did you go out the window, dressed so pretty. What is it, have doors gone out of fashion? "
My blood froze in my veins, how did she know I was out? I looked at him with an incredulous look, staring intently at him.
"How..."
"...I did? Well let's say I saw you from the balcony. It was very funny."
An awkward silence fell as Ginevra tried to melt the ice. Arriving at the bar, we ordered and sat at a table near the window where you could admire the winter flowers that colored the gloomy air of the day.
"Then? Where did you go? "He tugged again as he dipped the croissant in the latte.
"I don't think it's any of your business."
I spat sour as Guinevere tried desperately to change the subject.
"It would be better if you told me or your mother might find out somehow."
"Are you blackmailing me?" I straightened my back in indignation.
"Calm sparkle, I just want to know."
"I went out."
"I understood this. With whom?"
"Richard, this doesn't really concern you."
"Come on Ginevra, simple curiosity. Then?"
"With a boy."
I answered looking down, wrapping the cup in my hands.
"Your boyfriend?"
I didn't answer that question, not knowing the answer.
Ginevra finally managed to divert the conversation about school, managing to get me out of that heavy speech.
When we finished, Ginevra offered to go and pay for everyone.
"I'll be right back, try not to break with embarrassing questions and I authorize you to kill him."
"I don't think there will be any need."
"I hope so, I'll be right back."
As soon as he took the money he hit the bag and dropped it to the floor. I got up promptly to pick it up but he put his arms around my waist and I settle into his lap. I tried to wriggle but he pinned my arms with an amused grin.
"Leave me!"
"Come on, don't do that, you're unpleasant."
"Listen or put me down or ..."
"Or... what are you doing? We feel."
"Just leave me."
"Not enough, I need a serious reason."
Suddenly glasses fell from the tray and the noise caught our attention. The poor waiter tried to collect the broken glass while Richard whispered in my ear.
"I think the waiter was distracted by the beautiful girl who was bent over."
I burst out laughing and slapped his chest.
"Come on! Poor thing! I just hope you don't get in trouble for this. "
"I hope so."
"What if you were there in his place? Don't you want nothing to happen to you? "
"Sure but I would have been more careful."
"You mean you wouldn't have done the same thing as him?"
I asked incredulously, raising an eyebrow and crossing my arms across my chest.
"Only if you were there."
Her statement made me smile but it died on my lips when I looked out the window. My breath caught and palpitations assaulted me. He pulled away from where he was standing. "Selene what's going on?"
I jumped to my feet and ran out, intruding Ginevra.
"Selene but where are you going?"
I ran fast trying to reach him, with tears lying on my skin, hoping it was a nightmare.
