They saw large worm-like Chitauri come out of the sky. "Guys", Sadie said, alerting them to it. "Call it, captain", Tony said. "Alright, listen up", Steve said. "Until we can close that portal our priority is containment. Barton, I want you on that roof. Eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or you turn it to ash". "Can you give me a lift?" Clint asked Tony. "Right", Tony nodded. "Better clench up, Legolas". He grabbed him and flew upwards with him. "Thor, you got to try and bottleneck that portal", Steve continued. "Slow them down. You got the lightning. Light the bastards up. The rest of us, we stay here on the ground. We keep the fighting here. And Hulk... Smash". Hulk smiled, jumping away to smash a Chitauri into a building.

Sadie, Natasha and Grace fought the Chitauri. As they fell to the ground, they turned around to see Steve and Rachel. "Captain, none of this is going to mean a damn thing if we don't close that portal", Grace said. "Our biggest guns couldn't touch it", Steve said.

"Well, maybe it's not about guns"

"If you want to get up there, you're gonna need a ride"

"I got a ride. I could use a boost though"

"Are you sure about this?"

"Yeah. It's gonna be fun"

She ran onto a car, stepping onto his shield and catching a ride with a Chitauri. She clambered on and cut the chain attaching the Chitauri to the device. She kicked him off. She stabbed the second one, trying to take control of the vehicle. "Ok. Turn, turn, turn!" she said, trying to steer him. "Less! Less!"

Tony landed on the ground, helping Steve, Rachel, Sadie and Natasha fight. "Where's Grace?" he asked them. "She's gonna try and close the portal", Rachel replied.

"She what?"

He flew away.

"Captain, the bank on 42nd past Madison", Clint said through their earpieces. "They've cornered a lot of civilians in there". "We're on it", Steve replied. They rolled in through the window of the bank and Steve threw his shield at the Chitauri who dropped his device. They ducked as the Chitauri pointed their weapons at them. Rachel kicked a table at them and they started fighting them. "Everyone! Clear out!" Sadie yelled. The device started beeping. One of the Chitauri picked it up and threw it at them. Rachel, Sadie and Natasha rolled out of the window. Steve put his shield up, blocking the explosion and rolled out of the window. He landed on a car. He slowly got off. "Are you okay?" Rachel asked him, putting a hand on his arm. But he wasn't listening. He was watching all the destruction and chaos around him.

Grace was still riding the Chitauri when she looked behind her and saw Loki. "Oh, you", she muttered. "Hawkeye!" "What are you doing?" he asked her.

"A little help!"

"I got him"

She dismantled the Chitauri and landed on the roof of a building. She found the device holding the Tesseract. "The sceptre...", Dr Selvig said, alerting her to his presence.

"Doctor"

"Loki's sceptre. The energy. The Tesseract can't fight, but you can't protect against yourself"

"It's not your fault. You didn't know what you were doing"

"Actually, I think I did. I built in a safety to cut their power source"

"Loki's sceptre"

"It may be able to close the portal. And I'm looking right at it"
