Born Into Darkness

Bunny threw his boomerang to hit a nightmare that went after Jack. Jack jumped up, feeling relieved that bunny was there to help him. He ran down towards the street seeing pitch slowly standing to his feet. He raised his scythe from the ground and swung it around, almost hitting Tooth. North, Bunny, Tooth and Jack all cornered Pitch into the alley.

"Nowhere to run now, Pitch." Jack said.

Pitch chuckled, sinking into the ground as a shadow. They all saw the shadows, circling them on the buildings.

"Jack look out!" Bunny shouted, throwing his boomerang at Pitch's scythe. Pitch dodged it easily. Jack turned around in time for the scythe to come down. Something white hot hit his side, making him go wide eye. He gasped, falling to the ground, his staff flown a few feet away from him as he made contact with the ground.

     "Jack!" Bunny shouted.

Pitch laughed wickedly and watched as jack struggled. Pitch glanced back at the children. He grinned wildly and turned to see the struggling jack.

"I would say sweet dreams, Jack. But there aren't any left." He chuckled. "Since I've gotten the strongest one out of the way. I bid you adieu." He said, disappearing into the shadows, although he didn't get far when he was knocked out of the shadows and to the ground by something familiar, making him fall a few feet from the guardians, unconscious.

Jack held his pained side, gnawing his teeth together as a familiar golden sand appeared in his view. All the guardians seemed to forget about the writhing young Guardian of fun and saw that their lost, fallen friend had returned from the grave.

Jack felt something snake into his side. While the others were distracted, he glanced down to see that black sand was snaking into the wound, making him panic. His veins burned, causing him to grunt and arch his back. His side burned and his heart ached as the corruption filled his stomach. He felt sweat on his forehead start to bead up.

“Sandy! You are alive!” Tooth shouted.

Jack started to burn on the inside, his eyes closed in pain his breathing was labored and he just wanted the pain to end, his tears starting to come out, when Jaime noticed the tears rolling off of Jack’s cheeks, he gasped.

  “Jack!” Jaime shouted.

The rest of them looked over to see Jack was balling his fists and a dark crimson pile underneath him. They could see that Jack was in more pain than just the wound on his side. The Guardians rushed forward, but a dark chuckle came from behind them, stopping them dead in the middle of Jack and Pitch.

“I wanted him out of the way, but this is quite a turn of events.” Pitch said, slowly standing as he takes in the hunched over Jack.

“What did you do to him, Pitch?” Bunny shouted.

Pitch smirked. “I simply tried to kill him, my nightmare sand, though, had other wicked ideas.” He smiled and looked at Jack who fell on his back, his eyes shutting and his hands clutching his chest as he curled up in fetal position. Ice started coming out of his feet, but it wasn't its normal blue color, it was black with a mix of dark purple. The snow on his jacket was starting to turn that color too, making Jack gasp.

“Whats happening, North?!” Bunny shouted, watching Jack struggle with something they couldn't exactly explain.

“I do not know.” North explained.

“Pitch! Explain yourself dammit!” Tooth exclaimed, rushing up to him to grab his coat and menacingly glared at him.

Pitch chuckled. “What does it look like, little fairy?” He asks.

Jack screamed, making all of them look down at Jack, seeing the roots of his hair start to turn a midnight black, tooth gasped, releasing Pitch.

“It hurts…” Jack said quietly, causing them to jump into action.

“I wouldn't touch him!” Pitch warned, but no one listened as Bunny placed a palm on him and immediately shot back, his palm burning from the coldness of Jack. He hissed and watched as Jack’s hair become pure black and Jack’s once shivering form, was now completely still, his hands fallen to the pavement. They held their breath as Jack was motionless.

“Its complete.” Pitch explained. “Ah, what a lo~ovely turn of events this was, eh, Guardians? You took everything from me, so now I will be taking everything from you.”

“Shut up Pitch!” Bunny threw his boomerang right at Pitch’s face, but in a blur, everything happened so fast. Pitch was cowering down, waiting for the impact to break his face, Bunny was waiting for a satisfying crack, but nothing came, it took everyone a moment to realize the boomerang was stuck in something that mixed with Black nightmare sand and Ice. Pitch opened his eyes slowly to see Jack was standing in front of Pitch, one hand outstretched while the other slouched to the side.

The wall disappeared and Bunny’s boomerang dropped to the floor. The guardians gasped when they saw who protected the slime ball. Jack stood there, his hand slowly dropping to his side. Jack looked motionless, almost as if he was a puppet. His face was void of any emotion and his eyes were a deep seeded purple while his hair was a midnight black. His outfit was still the same but it was torn and covered in blood. Although the slice he received from Pitch, was completely healed.

  “Jack?” Jaime asked.

Jack’s eyes landed on Jaime, and in one movement sent a wave of Nightmare Ice towards him, luckily, Bunny jumped and grabbed Jaime, both of them tumbling to the side, barely missing the Ice. They looked up to see Jack drop his hand again.

“Who is Jack?” he asks, looking at Jaime with almost murderous purple eyes.

“What the hell is wrong with you?! You almost killed us, show pony?!” Bunny yelled, getting up off the ground. Jaime was scared beyond belief and Pitch could sense it, suddenly getting a wicked idea.

Pitch walked up to Jack and placed a hand on his Shoulder. “Nothings wrong with him, Bunny.” He smirked.

“He would never strike at us without having a reason!” Bunny yelled back.

Jack just tilted his head in confusion, not quite grasping what Bunny had said. "But I did have reason. You tried to hurt Pitch, so in return I was going to hurt one of you." Jack said, his voice quite monotone. "Since the worm spoke, I chose him to hurt."

North, after hearing what Jack had said, knew exactly what was going on, and his anger spiked to eleven in seconds. "You corrupted him, Pitch!" North yelled.

Pitch chuckled. "I didn't do anything." He gripped Jacks shoulders hard, leaning in to the crook of Jack's neck. "But the sand had quite a lot to do with it." Pitch explained.

They all glared, even Sandy who really didn't quite understand the situation.

Pitch chuckled, stepping away from Jack, who stood there, his eyes half lidded as he stared at the guardians. "Now that I seem to have control of the most powerful Guardian, my fear will only grow and you can't stop me." He turned to the guardians, a wicken grin showing. "But i'd lo~ove to see you try, Guardians."

Bunny growled, grabbing his other boomerang to throw it, but Jack moved first, using Wind for speed and was in front of Bunny in seconds, holding a sharp Icicle to his throat.

"Try and you won't be breathing." Jack said with fierce threatening in his voice. His face never breaking its blank expression.

Pitch just walked over to Jack, and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Now, Now my Prince. You will get your turn, for now, we shall retreat."

Bunny held still, but his glare never left Jacks eyes as he slowly dropped the icicle and turned, bending down to grab his staff before turning to Pitch, awaiting instructions.

Pitch sighed. "Seems the tides are turning, Guardians. I'd keep your Children safe." He said, grabbing Jack's shoulders. "Because by the time Christmas comes, there won't be a single believe heading your way. Have a nice day, my Lovelies." He said.

Sand came form the ground and slowly covered them. The Guardians and the kids watched Jack who was standing like a puppet as the sand engulfed him.

"JACK!" Jaime shouted running forward. Bunny grabbed him holding Jaime back as the sand fully engulfed them and they disappeared, leaving a small pile of black sand and Ice. All of the Guardians and Children still shaken by the events that just happened.
