:Darker Than Black: [Chapter: 23] //An Original Story//
Something wet was pressing against my lip.
My eyes shot open, and I saw Hudson above me, frowning deeply. He was putting some weird, wet, gooey thing on my lips.
"What are you doing?" I demanded, pulling my head away from him, and wiping a hand across my mouth to get the gunk off.
"Putting disinfectant on your lips," he stated nonchalantly. "Now come closer so I can finish... since you so rudely wiped away what I had already applied."
"What? No! Why are you putting disinfectant on me?"
"Because that guy kissed you!" Hudson responded, a look of disgust on his face.
"No he didn't," I told Hudson.
"I saw it with my own eyes!"
"He didn't kiss me Hudson. He-" I tried to explain, but got cut off.
"Are you really going to try and lie about this, Willow?" Hudson asked, his eyes slightly narrowing.
I narrowed my eyes back. "If you'd just shut up for a minute, I'd explain to you what happened!"
Hudson rolled his eyes. "There's not much to explain, Willow."
I groaned in frustration. "Let me show you."
"Show me what?"
I stood up and Hudson stood up as well. Placing my hand over his mouth I leant in and pressed my lips to my hand. Hudson looked at me with a blank expression. I pulled away with a frown.
"See? That's what he did."
"Oh."
"Yeah," I responded, crossing my arms.
"Well what was he doing in your apartment?" Hudson demanded, folding his arms as well.
"We were talking," I told him.
"You couldn't have called me to let me know where you were? I thought you had been kidnapped or something!" Hudson remarked angrily.
"Who are you my mom?" I responded, surprised by his attitude. "You're the one who said you'd be back in five minutes and disappeared for much longer than that."
Hudson opened his mouth to retort, but after a moment he shut it, looking sheepish. "Okay, so that was my fault. But you still could have called!"
"I wanted to, but Matt took my phone away."
Hudson rolled his eyes. "So you let him into your apartment? Are you right in the head, Willow?"
I scowled at him. "He said he needed to talk to me about something important, which he did, however I'm not so sure if I want to discuss it with you anymore."
"But he's the enemy, Willow," Hudson said with a frown. "You didn't know whether he was lying or not."
"Well it's a good thing he wasn't lying, right?"
"That's not the point, Willow."
"I know what your point is, Hudson," I responded. "But my point is that he seemed honest when he was telling me he needed to talk."
"Yeah, and I'm sure a pedophile sounds convincing when he offers candy to little children so they will get into his van."
I rolled my eyes. "It was my decision to trust this guy."
"Well make better decisions, Willow!"
"I'm not going to fight with you about this!" I cried, throwing my hands up in the air. "I've got something important to discuss with you, so please stop making me feel like I'm the bad guy in this situation!"
"I'm sorry," Hudson responded, running a hand through his hair. "I was just worried."
I softened my look and sighed. "I'm sorry too."
"Well let's just drop it then, okay?" Hudson suggested.
I nodded. "I want to tell you what he had to say."
Hudson nodded and sat down on the couch, mentioning for me to sit next to him. I did so.
"Go and explain then," he ordered.
I opened my mouth to start and closed it almost immediately. Matt had told me I couldn't tell Hudson anything except that someone was behind that. So what was I going to say to him?
"Well?"
I forced out a nervous chuckle. "Well... I know this sounds crazy, but there's someone behind all these accidents."
Hudson burst out laughing. "Haha, what do you mean?"
"Like someone making these things happen."
"Impossible," Hudson said at once. "That sounds like some sci-fi movie, Willow."
I gave him a blank stare. "And being able to see the future isn't?"
Hudson frowned. "But why would someone be trying to kill innocent people?"
I shrugged. "Someone wants us dead though..."
I frowned deeply for a second. What things could I tell Hudson and what things couldn't I? Matt hadn't been very specific and what I was saying didn't sound very convincing.
"Why do you believe this guy?" Hudson asked, interrupting my thoughts. "He tried to set you on fire."
I grimaced. "Yeah..."
"And he's tried to kill us before with the bomb."
"Yeah..."
"So what's your explanation?"
"I just believe him," I responded with a sigh.
"You very gullible," Hudson commented with a frown.
"Even if he's saying isn't true, it doesn't matter. But if it is true, than we need to find out who this guy is and stop him," I told Hudson, crossing my arms. "And if you won't help me, I'll do it by myself."
"Oh no you won't," Hudson said quickly. "You've got to stick with me."
"Why?"
"June 17th is almost here."
"So?"
Hudson raised his eyebrows.
"Oh!"
"Yeah," Hudson said with a chuckle. "My death date? I need you around for that."
"Why?"
"It's a secret," he responded with a wink.
"I'm done with secrets. First with you, now with Matt. It's so annoying! Why can't you just tell me? And also about this stupid glass bird?" I demanded, yanking it from under my shirt.
"Hey, hey! Don't break that!" Hudson cried, jumping up and holding the bird gently on the necklace. "This is more important than my life!"
I stared up at him like he was crazy. "How?"
"I can't tell you!"
I scowled at him. "Whatever."
He laughed. "Sorry, Willow. But I'll investigate about what has happened and see if any evidence indicates that someone else is behind the disasters. I can't say I believe you right now."
"It's what Matt said," I muttered.
"Even more reason not to believe it," Hudson responded, rolling his eyes.
"But it make sense!" I argued. "Why else would all the disasters and accidents happen around here only?"
"It could be just a coincidence," Hudson told me. "Saying someone is behind it is really outrageous, you know?"
"But it makes sense!"
"It might make sense to you, but that's because you're insane," Hudson responded with a chuckle.
"You're a jerk."
"Let's not use names," Hudson said with a smile on his face. "Come on, Willow. I said I'd look into it."
"Whatever," I said with a sigh. "But I have I-told-you-so rights."
Hudson laughed. "Okay, you can have those then."
I frowned at Hudson.
Had Matt been telling the truth? Or was I just gullible? But he had so many points, and that note. Things would be much easier if I could have told Hudson everything.
Oh. My. Pickle. My home computer is so difficult to work this! I'd never thought I'd say this, but my Mac is ten times better than this POS. The enter bar doesn't even work, so to space this chapter I had to keep hitting the space bar -_- it took almost an hour, literally. For you guys, I've been going on the computer at 2AM to write a chapter. I'm not allowed on during the day because my dad runs his own business and he needs the phone line free, and with dial-up, the phone line gets blocked so yeah. Yay for sleepless nights! I don't particularly mind though... the days I went without writing I got really sick lol. I think I might actually have an addiction or something. Because I got /really/ sick. Maybe just coincidence, who knows?
Oh, and another thing. My home computer doesn't have spell check or the red squiggly that tells you when a word is spelled wrong, so excuse my mistakes. I'm actually not a good speller lol. It's all spell check and the dictionary on my laptop... but I have neither ):
I WANT MY LAPTOP!!!! Bah. To make things worse, I dropped my glasses and the lens fell down a hole in my bathroom floor. So it's like. Not my week lol.
Anyways... join my FB page if you haven't... you can also add me as a friend, the links there. Open external link at the right... and, of course, VOTE! :D Vote for my horrible week to become better! lol
