Emma:
"Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?" I sing to no one in particular.
"Rainbows are visions, but only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide" At this Killian had crept up behind me. I didn't know. I started dancing around the room.
"So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me" Killian starts to dance with me. I laugh. I pull him into a slowed down version square dance.
"Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star
Somebody thought of that and someone believed it
Look what it's done so far
And what's so amazing that keeps us stargazing
And what do you think we might see
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me
All of us wonder its spell
We know that it's probably magic"
Killian leans closer. Our dance becomes even slower.
"Have you been half asleep, and have you heard voices
I've heard them calling my name
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors
The voice might be one in the same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
It's something that I'm supposed to be
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me..."
He leans down, as if to kiss me.
I shoot up in my bed, alone.
"WHAT THE HELL?" I scream as Regina comes into my room. She's laughing. "CAN YOU LIKE NOT WAKE ME UP?"
"Sorry Swan. I have a surprise." I jump out of bed, about to put clothes on when a pale pink cloud erupts around me. And all of a sudden;
"AH!" I shriek, "REGINA?"
She steps back.
"Wasn't me!" She stifles a giggle. "And I wouldn't wear a "I <3 Killy" shirt either.
"GO AWAY REGINA!"
Killian:
I wake up to Emma's screams and Regina's laughter.
"REGINA STOP IT!"
The lass still has lungs.
A few hours later
Swan is downstairs singing an unknown song.
"A broken girl from a broken past, a naïve boy looks on from behind the glass..." She sings.
She sounds lovely.
"Chase away my demons tonight, hold me close and tell me that it's alright!"
I hear a quiver in her voice.
"Hold me closer and closer still, the moment won't last though we hope that it will." And then, CRASH!
I jolt down the stairs.
"SWAN?"
No answer. I get down to the kitchen. She's laying there, clutching at her throat.
"SWAN!"
She looks up, gasping for air. I grab her up. She presses a phone into my hand. I dial 911, the only number besides Emma's I remember.
"Emma, it's going to be alright."
Her eyes close and she goes limp.
"EMMA NO!"
