The Three Kinds of Insanity
-Meiko's POV-
Rin held my hand, and led me straight to the place I wanted to be this whole time. It's large, and there were multiple rooms apart from the performance area. The sleeping one, Len, mumbled something quietly. It almost sounded like a name, but Rin seemed to get the hint. "My goodness! Your right! We SHOULD introduce her to Miku!" I was led past an array of rooms, most of which had tightly shut doors. Why would there be locked rooms. Aren't there lots of attractions in a circus? We went to one of the openable doors, which had a girl in a large cage. The girl had cold-looking skin, and beautiful teal hair. She had a long pink dress, and appeared to be sitting. Rin's expression never changed. "Miku! My diva darling, how are you?" The "diva" jumped in surprise a bit, and turned around. "Rin! It's a pleasure to see you. And... there's a new guest." She had some kind of wrapping around her face. Mother would say that its something some blind people would do. She never specified, only said that it was for "special cases". When she turned, it seemed irregular. Why is that? Before anyone knew it, the second head of the twins stirred, and woke up.
"Len!" Miku seemed oddly overjoyed. "Miku... good morning. How are you?" He reached his hand through the bars of the cage, and they let their fingers intertwine. Were they in love too? The heartwarming moment was interrupted a few moments later. "Len! We have a visitor!" Rin said gleefully, grabbing his arm and moving him to face me. His eyes widened slightly. "I see... I'm pretty sure Rin already introduced me. What's your name?" I smiled up at him. "I'm Meiko. It is an honor." Miku seemed lost in thought for a moment. Len took quick notice while Rin began talking to him. "So I led her in and then you- are you listening to me?" Len's response was almost immediate. "Yes! I am. Say, why don't you tell Meiko here about the other acts in our circus?" Her look of small confusion turned to excitement, and she proceeded to babble on about all the other acts. After a minute or so, she stopped. All of our trains of thought were put to an end. Miku was singing a song. She had a beautiful voice. Something father would say could be made into a wall mural as large as the sky. However, the melody itself was somewhat disturbing. Me and Len could both tell. Yet somehow, Rin found it relaxing. Within minutes, she was peacefully sleeping. Len gave her a quick pat on the head, and she didn't budge. Len smiled at Miku, who nodded in return.
Both of them turned towards me quickly. "You have to get out of here." Len said. "It isn't safe." I groaned in annoyance. "Why is everyone against me being here? Is it some crime? Some 'thing I won't understand'? Why?!" Apparently, this triggered some reaction in Miku. Her hands flung to some of the bars, and let out a small scream. Len ran over and grabbed one of her hands. "It's okay, Miku. I'm here. It's okay. Breathe. I promise I will always be here." They're not happy here, like Rin? Why aren't they? This makes no sense! Len's blue eyes seemed to wander for a moment. "Follow me." He said eventually, and we walked, leaving Miku behind. His hand traced along the name plates of the door, and Rin was blissfully ignorant to the whole thing. We both stopped at the sound of screaming. It sounded like a voice I vaguely knew. Yet I can't say. "We should change course..." the blonde said warily as we took a turn to the left. After more twists and turns, the place we were looking for reveals itself. The moment the door opened, a faint growl is heard. "W...what...?" Instead of a dog, or wolf, or rather ANYTHING that could make such an inhuman growl, it was a man. He was ties to a chair, and his clothes were far more ragged than anyone else's. His hair was a deep ocean blue, and he seems like he would be quite beautiful if it weren't for the horrid look on his face. "Whats wrong with him?" I blurt out. Len has a look of pain and sadness. "His name is Kaito. They switched his brain out for a dog's. This isn't supposed to be like this." I was about to ask who "they" are, but the blonde wasn't done talking. "Which is exactly why you should get out of here! Rin will try to object, but it isn't safe for you! Run! Please! Hurry!" I thought this place would be beautiful and amazing, but with Kaito, Miku and Len, I don't know what to think.
I was running for a while, when a syrupy sweet voice stopped me. "Oh no no no, where do you think your going, my sweet?" Heeled footsteps follow my panicked running. Eventually, I stop, and look at my pursuer. She had kind blue eyes, the same shade as the two twins. She had long, flowing pink hair. "Its so dreadfully dark outside! And it is chillingly cold. It isn't healthy for you to be running about like this." My mind was still clogged with the terrors I had seen. "Ummmm.... my parents are most likely worried sick, along with Lady IA and-" the lustrous tone of her voice stopped me yet again. "They will most likely understand! You should stay here with us for now! We have oh so much food and even a warm comfy bed for you!" Food and sleep DID sound nice. I eventually found myself following her. She kept talking with her melodic voice. "My name is Megurine Luka. I help the people here. I give them warmth and light, since they have nowhere else to go. But you won't tell, will you? Oh, of course you won't!" We stepped in front of the door, and her demeanor changed slightly as she opened it.
"After we're done HERE, you'll never want to utter a word."
