Don't you worry,all you Mom lovers,she made me pay for "butchering" my once shoulder length hair for a more reliable style by sending me to live in Evernight until she gets the bills paid and afford a much smaller place than our lovely home in the forest.

The bulk of my belongings are already there,under my other last name,Dad's last name,Valentino,along with my roommate...

My room is bare except a lone mattress,my floor-length mirror,dresser,desk with my laptop,pencils and a few boxes filled with my precious memories,all I'm taking with me except my desk,mirror and mattress that will stay as reminders that I was ever there...

Still echoes of another life...

I take a final look in the mirror at my outfit,a red silk blouse and black skinny jeans and black wedges,my eyes a shiny,confident blue, breath,grab my duffle bag and march down the stone stairs leading to the long driveway once more,my wings switching from black to white and back again as I head toward my baby,a midnight blue Jaguar and hug Mom lightly,so's not to break her beautiful black wings.

I've envied her wings since I was conceived,cursing The Fates for giving me dopey Faerie wings.

But enough of that.

"Make some friends,ok? And don't get into trouble.I hear that the school has a Visiting Day at the end of the first semester so I hope I'll be able to attend to see how my only child is handling herself away from home.Of course,there's Christmas,New Year's and your birthday.."

Her eyes flash a weird blue-black color,warning me she's serious.

"Sure,Mom.I know."

She looks around briefly,eyes darting wildly before locking with mine,forcing me to angle my head to meet her urgent gaze squarely.

"I mean it,Vanessa!! I'm giving you an opportunity to get out of this town! To start a new life.A better life. Take my words to heart.Once you've found some friends,make sure you stick with them.You never know what could be lurking..."

I nod,telling her I would,get into the car after a final hug and tossing my bag and boxes into the trunk like dead bodies and haul ass to school.

Don't wanna be late for the start of a 'beautiful" future.

I blast the stereo as my song comes on!

I sing along,drumming on the steering wheel and end up nearly crashing my child into oncoming traffic as I reach the city limits.

"Watch where ya goin',psycho!!" I snap,giving a few drivers the finger.

Finally,I reach the parking lot,swearing softly as the bell rings and check my phone...

It reads 7:22 and it's due to rain soon,judging by the rolling storm clouds overhead.

The Hell?

Why was the bell ringing so early?

I barely had breakfast!

So,I grab a Nature Valley bar from my purse and sprint toward to the main office building,barely savoring my treat.

"Hey,Newbie,where's your Mommy?" shouts a dirty blonde girl with greenish yellow eyes from across the lot,dressed in a black mini skirt,black blouse,stilettos,and probably no underwear by the way the guy next to her had his hands over all her...

Jeez,get a room..

"Lay off,Kac. She's probably late for a hair appointment!! Get a wig,Freak!!" jeers the tall,dark skinned Vampire girl with obvious light brown weave in her curly black hair styled in a bun,giving me a dirty look through her narrowed red eyes,also dressed in black, a tank top and skinny jeans.

"Where did you get clothes? The woods?" sneers the potential stripper,causing my wings to turn black as I hiss,"Where did you get your makeup? Sluts R Us?"

She stalks toward me,raising a long nail and claw like,curved her name.On.My.Car!!

I grab her hand,twist it behind her back and dropkick her,watching with stormy gray eyes as she tries to wiggle out of my iron grip and grab hold of her other hand,trying to go for my throat,snapping her teeth at me.

"Kac." and her boy-toy are gone.

Perfect.No witnesses...

I release her and she stumbles.

"Not so graceful now,are you?"

She growls and balls up her fist and there's a weird,wet crack.

That. B*** .Just.Broke.My.NOSE!!!

I screech and drive my heel into her stomach,ignoring the shouts and cries around us.

Arms wrap around me,driving me away from her,but not before I kick her in the face.

"Vanessa Ailnessa Valentino. Marcie Nicole Andrews! Come with me.The Headmistress would like to see you."bellows a tall wolf from the top of the stairs,dressed in a black T-shirt and blue jeans,hazel eyes dark as night,chains in his white knuckled grip.Trailing behind are kids chained to the main chain like dogs on a leash..
