Chapter 21 Into the Grey Zone

Paplatine looked peaceful while he slept. The man Anakin now hated most in the world was almost innocent as he slept, almost. Kodah stood beside him, obviously thinking. Her eyes were locked on the sith, and her mouth was twisted in contemplation. He felt heat rising in his face and looked away. Kodah spoke. "I have a syringe and a container. Let's just get this over with." Anakin nodded. "I don't get why we need blood." "It tricks the demon. Only a person who has the same blood as Palpatine can control it since he summoned it." She knelt down beside the sleeping Sith. Anakin admired her courage. He felt as though she knelt next to an active bomb. She uncovered his arm from his robes and withdrew a small amount of blood, which she ejected into a container. She looked at the red substance with distaste. "I feel so strange." Anakin laughed. "This is all strange. Her mouth straightened into a hard line. "Now it's time for the hard part. Making the portal into Crystelen." "Crystelen?" Anakin asked. "I thought the NercroLands was where the demon was." "It is." Kodah replied. "But you can't just jump from here to there, those particular grey zones aren't connected. We need to first go to the Zurichrest at Crystelen and then to the NecroLands." "Don't we have to find the Zuricrest first?" She grinned. "Nope. I know where it is easily. Any CrystelBender does." "CrystelBender?" "Me. That's what I am. Now stand back. This might take a minute."
She moved to the center of the large room, looking out the window at the thundering rain. Coruscant couldn't last like this forever. She closed her eyes. "Anakin, brace your self." Then she shattered the window, using the force. The maelstrom wind spent rain pounding into the room. Anakin moved back against the wall, turning away from the onslaught. Kodah reached out, her hand calling the water. As before, it didn't answer.
"This is gonna be hard since we aren't at a Zurichrest!" She yelled over the wind. Eyes closed, she centered her self, feeling the force. She felt Crystelen, the source of her power. She felt the barrier between reality and the force. She felt that veil tear.
Anakin gasped in astonishment as a grey hole opened in front of Kodah. She waved her hand and the window repaired itself. The wind died down and all that was left was the water on the floor and gap between the worlds.
She turned to him, her hair and clothes soaked. She gave him a weak smile. "Ready?" He gulped. "Um not really." She reached out her hand. "Do you trust me?" He took it and nodded. Slowly they approached the tear. Kodah stepped her foot through, and together they fell.

Stars and planets and galaxies. Colors shapes and textures. The realm between the worlds was everything and nothing all at once. Everything was fading into grey. All he could see was Kodah. Her eyes shining like a kaleidoscope. Pulling, she steered them down. Everything went black.

"Are we dead?" Anakin had never felt so good in his life. He felt a kind of peace and comfort like nothing he had ever felt. He must be dead.
"No Anakin. We are in Crystelen." Kodah was even more beautiful here. Her colors and tones were deepened, she seemed to glow. She radiated sparkling light. Her smile flowed like a beacon.
This world was amazing. His jaw dropped as all he could do was marvel.
Surrounding him was nothing but streams of light. They were every color in the rainbow, and plenty that weren't. Every kind of pattern and texture. This was the most beautiful place in the world.
Her face was rapturous. She leaned over and rested against his chest. "This place is like bring home." Even her voice was more melodious. He looked down into her beautiful eyes. Why would they ever want to leave this place?

Meanwhile, Kypa Chione was standing in front of the grey hole. The edges were closing and the hole was shrinking. It was now or never. She placed a hand on hole and it fell right through. Startled, she fell forward, right into the void. Kypa was going to chystelen
