Chapter 19 Parting the waters

Kodah couldn't believe it. Anakin stood in front of her holding something out to her. A lightsaber.  "Kodah you need a weapon, you can't just rely on your powers. Besides you'll need all your strength summoning a portal." Her eyes were wide and she felt several conflicting emotions. All of her, (admittedly very short) life with her parents, they had told her that in spite of her force powers, she wouldn't be a Jedi. That wasn't what they wanted for her. They didn't want me to be a sith either, she thought bitterly. That conviction had gotten them killed.

The lightsaber called to her. She could feel that.  "Where did you get it?" She asked. Anakin grinned guiltily. "Don't ask" Kodah rolled her eyes. But even as she did, her hands reached out that took the probably stolen saber from him. She ignited it. The blade glowed cobalt blue. She could feel that power of the weapon. It felt natural in her hands. "I haven't had any training with this you know." She said. "Well Kodie experience is the best teacher. You ready?" "How do plan on getting to the senate building in the rain? We don't have one of those industrial strength ships they used for the Evacs." Anakins grin faltered. "I was hoping you could figure that out being the resident water expert..."
Kodah briefly debated with smacking him.
"Fine I have an idea."

A small little girl stood in an Evac ship near the Jedi temple. Her parents were missing in the floods. Everyone told it would be alright, but this girl was uncommonly smart in the ways of the world. She registered empty words when she heard them. All the other refugees had gotten tired of trying to reassure a child who, despite repeated affirmations from those older and wiser, persisted that there was no hope. So the child sat alone. She was watching the rain. There was tragic beauty in it she supposed. The water was very graceful looking. It just kept falling and falling. It had a rather hypnotic quality. She tired.
When the rain parted she thought she was imaging it.
She leaned foreword and almost smushed her face against the glass. A tiny speeder piloted by two small figures made its way through the rain below her. One of which stood on the seat, her long dark hair flying behind her, she had her hands raised as she kept the water at bay around the speeder. A sort of shield was formed around the transport.
The girl was so shocked for a moment her mind went blank. Then her eyes widened. There was a person who could control the rain!

The speeder banked up to fly around the transport in the direction of the senate building. It was flying very close to to the Evac ship.
A strong desire for answers filled every fiber of the girls being. She closed her eyes and opened her mind. The world slowed down. All the sounds of the people around her faded into a dim whisper. The world faded away. The child extended her hand. The 6' storm proof glass window shattered like china.
As the speeder flew by with its shield, the little girl dove through the shattered window, ignoring the screams of her fellow refugees. She landed in the back compartment of the speeder and duck down, curling into a little ball. The two people upfront hadn't noticed their knew passenger, the sounds of rain blocking out the breaking of glass. The man looked vaguely familiar. The woman was unrecognizable, but their was obviously something different about her. The girl was going to find out what was going on. She was going to do whatever it took to find answers no one would give her. She might even find her parents. She could do it. It didn't matter that she was small. Kypa Chione wouldn't give up.
