Chapter 11 Coruscants Quickening
Kodah was clenching her hands together so tight her knuckles turned white. She had never flown before. Anakin had tried to explain what it felt like, but no explanation could prepare her for the feeling of leaving her stomach back on Savosa after they went into hyperspace or the strange humming in her teeth.
It wasn't totally unpleasant though. She could understand why Anakin liked it. She glanced at him. His mouth was set firmly, but he had a touch of a smile in his eyes. She looked away. There was something about him. Something that threatened her emotionless life. She looked him over. He was so strong. So sure of himself. He was everything she wasn't. And Kodah wasn't quite sure what that meant for her.
"There it is." Anakin said as the exited hyper space. Coruscant was probably beautiful when it was nice out, but now the planet was buried under clouds. It's aura reeked of fear and death. She could see the water. It was rising faster than any normal water would.
They landed in the docking bay of the Jedi temple. Anakin let down the gangway and walked out. She followed him to the doors and stopped. He turned to her. "It's ok." He said, placing his hand on her arm briefly; then he with drew as though hiding something. Taking a deep breath she walked into the hanger.
It was the strangest place she had ever seen. All around her were, people droids and all manner of objects. The bustle and commotion threaten to overwhelm her. She closed her eyes and massaged her temples. Anakin's hand returned to her arm and he guided her through. They walked for quite some time. She hardly noticed a thing until they arrived at a door and anakin pushed a button, opening it. Inside was a circular room with 12 chairs. Seated in each was a being of differing species. Most of whom were decidedly stern looking. " I have returned from Savosa. This is Kodah." Anakin announced. "She has agreed to help us." Kodah clenched her hands together and managed to nod. A middle aged, human Jedi stood and turned to her. Obviously sensing her nerves, he said gently. "I am master Obi wan kenobi. We are very relieved help has come. We though that the roof of the temple would be a good place for you to work, because of the view. But if you think an other location would be better...." "n-no that would b-be fine." Kodah's voice came out soft, and frankly to high pitched for her liking. Master Obi wan nodded and gestured him to follow her. When they made it to door leading to the roof Obi wan turned to her. "The rain is to heavy for us to go any further. It's become more than just a flood danger. Just stepping outside is like getting pelted with rocks." Kodah smiled slightly, feeling more confident. "It's water. I can handle water." With that, she stepped past Anakin and Obi wan and stepped out into the rain.
She was surprised by its force. It thudded down on her.
She called out to it. Her mind gave it orders. She expected to be obeyed. Water always obeyed her.
Not this water.
It pounded down on her. She told it to stop but it payed no heed. With all her mental strength she called to it. And it crushed her.
The flow increased as though the water had a mind.
It hit her.
She crumpled on the ground, her mental strength spent.
This had never happened before.
She was the Hydrokenetic.
This was water.
An yet. It defied her.
