Chapter 6

"The only way you could have gotten these was if you stole it from... a questioner! When did you meet a questioner?!" Wonders Aether.

"These last years have been hard. Don't make them harder." Then Apollo grabs Aether and drags him back to the house.

"What do you want again?" Asks Aether.

"Just tell me where Em is, or this might get a little violent."

"Oho, violent you say? I'd like to see you try." Laughs Aether.

"I'm not playing around. Tell me where she is and nobody gets hurt." Says Apollo menacingly.

"Oh shut up, your power isn't anything that could hurt me."

"And how sure can you be?"

A flash of anger appears on Aether's face. Then he goes back to smiling slyly.

"I can't be sure. This would never have happened if you'd just told me your power..." Says Aether, trailing off.

       "Stop saying that!"

"Can you untie me now?" Says Aether casually. Apollo tied him to his wooden kitchen chair. Apollo was always really good at tying knots.

"No. Not until you tell me where Em is. I could stay here the entire day. And night. And month."

"I've been watching you, Apollo. You know that. You've noticed." Smiled Aether.

"That has nothing to do with anything."

"You've always been touchy with that noticing thing. Well, maybe not, since when we first met, you kept waving around how you noticed everything."

"Well I was dumb back the- I mean... no I didn't. You must have something wrong. Maybe all that killing has made your memory a little bad." Said Apollo, stuttering.

"Haha. Could never hold back anything, could you? Not even your rudeness, love, or anger. You thought you were so special, didn't you," laughed Aether. "And after I taught you a lesson, you went into hiding. Can't really hide from a teleporter, Apollo."

"You don't know anything compared to me. I could tear you apart with my knowledge right here and now. I could beat you up until you couldn't teleport ever again. But I won't, because I need your information. Tell me where Em is. Right now. That's all I'm asking."

       "No."

"You never get it. Maybe this'll help." Says Apollo, punching Aether square in the face.

"Well, that was rude." Says Aether, rubbing his nose.

       ...

... wait... how is he rubbing his nose? He's tied up. With special handcuffs!

"Maybe you should have actually went to a questioner, that way I couldn't have escaped this easily," scoffed Aether. "Emerson is at 70.965124, -52.117290. If you're that determined. Goodbye." Finishes Aether, and then he teleports away.

"70.965124... -52.1... uh... -52.1... what were the other numbers? Dang it... I need to find Jack Miller."

Jack Miller is standing in front of a girl that looks about 19.

       "Give me the guitar."

"Huh? Oh hello, I didn't see you there. How are you?"

"Cmon. I don't have time for this, give me the weapon." Says Jack.

"Oh, well I think you have lots of time, Time T," smiles the girl unpleasantly. "What does the T even stand for? Whatever. You want this guitar? Then take it." She says. The girl grabs the guitar by the neck and swings it around, making the body zoom straight for Jack's face.

As if time just paused, she stops, holding the guitar right in front of Jack. Then she starts rewinding.

"Oh, well I think you have lots of time, Time T," smiles the girl unpleasantly. "What does the T even stan-"

Jack punches her in the face, sending her tumbling into the wall, coughing blood into her hand.

       "The guitar. Now."

"Ugh... you'll pay for this!" She screams, and she makes to hit him with the guitar again.

Just like last time, she stops before she hits him. Again she rewinds.

"Ugh... you'll pay for thi-" Jack kicks her in the stomach.

She tries to strum the guitar, only managing to strum one string with her bloody hand before passing out. When the sound of the string hits Jack's ear, he starts feeling dizzy. He quickly rewinds time just before she strums the string, and grabs her hand, throwing it to the other side of her body.

"Hello," says Apollo, noticing that he's holding a guitar. "Can I pay you for that guitar?" Maybe when I find Em, she'll want a new guitar.

"No can-do. It's not for sale," he says playfully. "Someone lost their life for this."

"Oh... I'm so sorry. Was it someone you cared deeply for?" Apollo says sympathetically.

"I never said I lost someone for this. They're the ones who lost their life." He states blandly.

"Oh," wow. This guy is a complete jerk! Is he a murderer...? After a small pause, Apollo says "Are you Jack Miller?"

       "Depends. Who're you?"

"You know if you say depends there's a yes or a no, and if there's a yes then your probably him." Apollo sounds annoyed.

"Haha! You're smart. I like you. You can have the guitar if you want." Jack says, holding out the guitar.

"No thanks," He says, disgusted and uncomfortable. He killed someone for a guitar. And he wants me to take it. He's out of his mind! Why would anyone want me to take his help in finding Em?! "You killed someone for that." He says, finally admitting.

"She was mentally unstable, she tried to kill me like three times!"

"That isn't a good excuse. You murdered someone." This is the type of person I'm supposed to work with?

"Cut me some slack, man. She was a murderer too. I'm more of the chaotic good in the world."

"Whatever. Jack, I need you to work with me. Your power would be really helpful in my search." Sighs Apollo.

"Y'know, you and I are different," smiles Jack. "Like how you know my power but I don't think a single person alive except you knows what your power is."

"Well, you're very open with your power. Not the smartest move but... no turning back now. And for your information, someone does know my power. Other than me, I mean." Apollo crosses his arms.

"You said you wanted my help?"

       "Yes. Let's get to that."
