Chapter 10: What A Night In Twilight Town
We went to Xion's room that was a block over, but after looking we noticed that she wasn't there as well. It was already night time which was strange to see since I only ever saw Twilight Town around evening time. Everybody seemed to have not noticed the girl which made me a bit tense of my surroundings. Did she cast a spell on everyone, but me? Is she connected to the spell on Roxas? It did look like he was able to say something that I couldn't hear. I was lost in thought not noticing that Master Aqua was saying something to me. She put her hand on my shoulder and I flinched.
"What's wrong?" She asked as Roxas and Axel were in front of us. Probably talking about where to go next.
"Nothing." I looked away from her, "Come on, we have to find Roxas's friends." I continued changing the subject.
I didn't bother to see her reaction, but I could tell she knew something was off.
"Kairi, don't be afraid to talk to someone." I heard Master Aqua say as I walked to the boys.
"Where to next?" I asked Axel, trying to get my mind off that girl and Master Aqua's words.
"We are going to go to Olette's house. Her house is the farthest from Roxas's and I told them to take Xion as far away from the screaming as possible."
Roxas looked to the sky when Axel was talking.
"Roxas," I started, "It's not your fault, about Xion I mean."
"I'm not too sure. If I was only stronger..." He had a bit of regret in his voice.
I felt a pang in my heart. His words reminded me of myself. I don't want him to think like me. Maybe it would help him not blame himself if I tell him how I feel, but I don't know if I can say the right things. I'm still learning to not blame myself...
As we walked in the silence of the night, Master Aqua called Axel leaving Roxas and I alone in the front. It was hard for me to start the conversation, but after a while I looked at Roxas and began, "I always blamed myself for Sora's disappearance. If only I was stronger was what I thought. Xehanort would have never been able to capture me if I was stronger. Sora would have never abused the Power of Waking if I was stronger." I took a deep breath as Roxas looked at the distance waiting for me to continue, "Roxas I don't want you to think that you are weak. I was scared to come here at first. I was thinking how could I save you, you are far stronger than me... What could I have done to help you? I noticed that even coming here I didn't really do anything. What you're thinking right now... I don't want you to follow my path of doubt in yourself. Roxas I'm sorry for giving you those negative thoughts about Xion... I should have never said anything. Because now you're worried and knowing I caused this... I'm sorry."
We walked for a bit before he spoke up to me.
"Kairi, it's not your fault, I'm actually glad you told me because I would have felt guilty if anything happened to her if I would have left to go with you guys; and Kairi."
"Yeah?" I asked as he met my gaze.
"You have a brave heart and you are strong. You stood your ground and helped me when I passed out, right?"
"Well, all I did was talk to that person, nothing else." I said, not really convinced with his words.
"Still, it might have taken a lot of courage to be able to stand up and talk to S-" He choked on the words. He can't say the name again. He was able to speak it with the girl, only I couldn't hear it... "them." He continued agitated, "The only thing I don't understand is why they would let me see them and yet I can't tell anyone." He finished looking at his hand annoyed.
"Well it's not like we know the person." I said trying to reassure him, but instead he frowned.
"Can't really say." Was all he said.
I didn't want to continue to ask Roxas about the figure because I knew he couldn't answer my questions. The magic on him forbade it. I looked back to see Master Aqua still talking to Axel.
"Wonder what they are talking about." I said out loud.
Roxas shrugged, "Who knows? You can go and find out."
I shook my head looking away from them.
"No, Master Aqua has her reasons to call him. Plus I don't want to talk to her right now..."
"Why?" Roxas asked, confused, "Did something happen between you too?"
"It's nothing." I said immediately raising my hands, "I just- I guess I can't say things too, like you with this person... I think I'm seeing things, but I can't be sure. She felt so real."
"She?" He asked.
"I saw this girl, do you remember her?" I asked, hoping for him to say yes.
He looked forward as if in thought, "No." He finally said.
I groaned woefully, "Of course."
"You should talk to your Master. Friends could really make a difference if you let them know what's going on." Roxas smiled warmly, reminding me of Sora a bit, "Take my advice because when I tried to do it all alone I fell hard..." He gazed up, almost remembering something.
I nodded, struggling to get the right words out.
"ROXAS!!! AXEL!" We all looked ahead to the voice. It was Hayner and he was running fast. When he caught up he was panting hard. He put his hands on Roxas's shoulders, "Thank goodness you're okay! Everyone was worried!"
"And Xion?" Roxas smiled, doing a reassuring pat on Hayner's hands.
Hayner shook his head, "Not good. She still hasn't moved."
"What?!" Axel shouted.
Roxas' smile had vanished, "Please take us to her. She might be in danger."
Hayner nodded, "Come on! She is in Olette's house!"
Axel put his hands in the air, "Of course! Like we didn't guess."
