Chapter 65
The Mikaelson Academy was quiet at this hour. Most students were out in town, enjoying the extra freedoms the Academy offered compared to the Salvatore School. Not that Penelope or any of the students there had roommates to work around. No, that seemed to be just a Salvatore School thing.
Josie had noticed quite a few differences between the schools as Penelope led her through the luxurious hallways. Something about the jealousy that panged in her chest had her considering other things she may want to do for herself.
The only sound was their ragged breaths as they struggled to get enough oxygen into their lungs. Josie laughed breathily as she stared up at Penelope’s ceiling.
“That was …”
“Amazing?”
Josie nodded. There was something different about having sex somewhere they couldn’t be caught by her father or her sister at any moment. Something better.
“Jo …” Penelope pushed her hair off her sweaty forehead. “I have … something to tell you.”
Josie glanced over. “What?”
“I wasn’t completely honest earlier.” Penelope sat up, clutching a pillow to her chest. “About the less than moral things I would do to get you.”
“What do you mean?” Josie’s heart thumped dangerously in her ears. The list of horrifying things Penelope could say were endless.
“I might’ve conspired with Hope to do something bad. Something evil. Definitely evil. There’s this spell we wrote, to get rid of Landon.”
Josie recoiled, almost falling out of Penelope’s bed. “And you waited until now to say it?”
“It’s too late to stop it now. Hope’s already got the plan in motion.”
“Well it wasn’t too late earlier!” Josie was practically shaking with rage. “You had the chance to stop it and you lied to me again! And what’s worse - you waited until I slept with you again to come clean!”
“I know,” Penelope sighed, reaching for Josie. “I just …”
“Knew I wouldn’t sleep with you if you were honest?” Josie pulled her clothes on as fast as she could. She wasn’t even sure she ended up with her own clothes. “I can’t believe you.”
“Josie, please wait …”
“I hate you, Penelope Park,” Josie seethed. “I hate the way you lie. I hate the way you manipulate everyone. And I hate the way you don’t think of anyone but yourself - even the people you claim to love. You are miserable and evil, and I can’t believe I didn’t see it before.”
“You don’t mean that -”
“I mean every fucking word.” Josie ducked into the hallway before Penelope could reply. She had almost expected to burst into tears as soon as she wasn’t in Penelope’s view anymore, but she didn’t. She was too angry.
She marched down the hallway towards the exit. She had to get back to the school as fast as she could. Maybe there was still a chance to stop Hope. Maybe she could save Landon - even if, thanks to Penelope fucking Park, she was the last person he’d want saving him. She had to do something.
