Chapter 12
A soft knock at her door made Josie lift her head from her pillow.
"It's open!"
Landon stepped inside and closed the door behind him.
"Lizzie told me you were having a hard time this week," he said, running his palms over his jeans.
"Right. Of course she did."
"She's just worried about you." Landon sat at her feet. "We all are."
"I know."
Landon took her hands in his. "So how can I help?"
"You can't." Josie sighed. "Unless you can magically transform into Hope Mikaelson for me."
Landon widened his eyes, a laugh spilling out of him. Josie found herself giggling too. Landon had a way of taking things that would make anyone else upset and finding the humor in it. Better yet, it was contagious.
"I just meant if it was someone like you with all that power, I'd have no reason to worry." Josie rested her forehead on his shoulder and took a deep breath. Landon kissed the top of her head.
"Bounce, Hobbit," Lizzie said, closing the door behind her loudly. "This is my room too, and I don't want to see that."
"Nice to see you too, Lizzie," Landon said as Josie leaned back into her pillows, a Lizzie-appropriate distance from him. Landon furrowed his eyebrows at Lizzie's hand that wasn't holding an ice cream carton. "But you brought three spoons?"
"Well, yeah," Lizzie scoffed. "Just in case you couldn't take a hint. I'm not about to share mine with you."
Landon gave her a smile like he was onto her, but Lizzie pretended like she didn't notice. She passed the spoons around and cracked open the ice cream container.
