If We Ever Meet Again
As soon as Marco left her home, she fell asleep. It had been at least hours before Marco left- she had to explain everything to him and show him the book that he used to belong in. She tried to prevent herself from showing him the chapters that he was involved in, but he insisted.
He nearly cried upon seeing his face inside the pages, seeing his old friends who were still alive to this moment.
It made her emotional as well. She felt horrible that he had to know that he was dead and no one knew how, or whether he died a hero or not.
“Marco, I promise you, I will try to do everything I can so you can meet your friends. Especially Jean. He was your closest friend.” She patted his back as he stood in front of her door before he left.
“Thank you so much.” He replied. She wanted to help him terribly. She wanted him to regain his memories and get his life back again. “I’ll see you again.” He waved off and walked to the bus stop.
“Bye,” she waved back and closed the door as soon as she could no longer see him.
She was awoken by the violent sound of her phone ringing on her bed table. “1 New Message.” She read on the blinding bright light of her screen. “Chris.” She said.
“Hey, (y/n), there’s someone I’d like you to meet. Come by the coffee shop near my house at 10. We’ll have breakfast, or late breakfast.” He texted.
She smiled, remembering Levi. If he had seen this he would flip out despite the fact that she’d told him many times that he took no interest in girls. The thought was bittersweet. She missed him too much- and it was very evident. She would be reminded of him with the simplest things, for instance the chair that he sat in, or the shirt that he wore the first time they met. It made her lips curl up into a smile, but her heart felt heavy.
She couldn’t wait for him to come back. Although she was too young to think about such a thing, she wanted to go far in life with him. He was not the most affectionate person ever, however the littlest actions were enough to know that he loved her.
After sitting on her bed for what seemed to be ten minutes, she got up to take a shower.
All of the things that have happened in the past week had made her forget about anticipating the person Chris wanted her to meet.
The smell of coffee and pastries filled the air as she stepped into the café, watching the line dissipate as the remaining customers who were late to eat breakfast left.
She looked around, looking for Chris who still wasn’t there. She took a seat by the corner where the only comfortable vacant seat was after she had her order of cocoa.
She looked down at the cup and smiled to herself again.
“Levi, when you and Hange find a way to create a walkway between our worlds, make sure you come back to visit once in a while. I’ll miss you both. I had so much fun hanging out with you and Hange today, even more than my friends.”
“Of course. I would miss you too… And yeah, Hange too.”
She looked down at her hands, remembering fondly what happened that night.
“Yo,” a voice called out from in front of her. “Why are you smiling at your hands?”
She looked up and saw Chris who was bent down to project his voice towards her.
“Oh, hey!” she snapped out of her thoughts, getting up from her seat to give him a hug.
Her eyes widened as she hugged him, seeing the person whom Chris wanted her to meet.
“Oh, hi!” he greeted.
“Hey… Marco!” she hesitantly answered as she pulled away from Chris. “Pretty anticlimactic meet up, Chris.” She teased.
“I take it you guys have met each other.” He slumped down on the seat.
“A bit.” She answered, sitting down on her seat, Marco following suit. “We just met yesterday.”
“Well still, that doesn’t really change anything. You’re the last one to meet him in our group of friends ‘cause you never hang out with us.” He emphasized, tapping the table with every word.
She sighed and looked at Marco. “Where did you guys meet anyway?” she asked.
“I was looking for a place to live then… when I got out of the hospital.” Marco responded. “Then Chris had a vacant room in his apartment, so that’s where I stay now.”
Jean would be so jealous if he heard this, she thought to herself, smiling at the thought of it.
“Stop smiling for no reason, you’re starting to look insane.” Chris took her out of her thoughts once again, giving him a glare as she looked back at him.
“You’re so annoying!” she heard a loud voice from behind them, making her turn her attention towards what seemed like a couple.
“Oh come on, Petra. You know I’ll marry you one day.” The man’s statement made her turn around completely.
She froze upon seeing the people behind her.
As she took a good look at them, she saw familiar faces- the man had an undercut with a middle part, lazy eyes and a very cocky expression glued on his face, and the woman who was sat in front of him who seemed to lose her patience with him had short ginger hair. She was unable to see her face, but she knew it was them.
As much as she wanted to approach them, she couldn’t. But what seemed strange to her was why they are all showing up now.
“I hope you bite your tongue!” the girl crossed her arms and turned away. It almost made (y/n) laugh- thinking about how they were both able to deal with each other in Levi’s squad was beyond her. And yet, even after they have passed, they still choose to be around each other.
She wanted to talk to them. She wanted to tell them that their captain was still alive. She wanted to give Levi reassurance that they were alive- at least in her world.
“uhh…” she said inaudibly- so quiet that only she could hear.
“(y/n)!” Chris called out, making her turn around, and making the two behind her turn towards them.
“Sorry, I just got distracted.” She shook her head and continued to drink her cocoa.
“Are you okay?” Marco asked worriedly.
“Are you thinking about Levi?” Chris asked, catching the attention of the two more.
She snarled and turned back to the two, “Excuse me, I know this is weird, but are your names Petra and Oulo?” she finally asked, after mustering up the little bit of courage she had.
They gave her a look, “Yes, how did you know that?” Oulo asked, giving off a rude tone.
“Don’t be rude! She was just asking.” she scolded him. “How do you know us?”
“I know this might be strange, but… I know your captain.” She said quietly, hoping that Chris wouldn’t hear.
“Who is that?”
Oh right, they don’t take the memory they had with them.
“Never mind.” She turned back around.
“No, no. It’s not something to push away after telling us. How do you know our names?” Oulo asked, crossing his arms, glaring at her.
She paused. There was no way that they would believe what she said. Plus, she didn’t want to explain this again for a second time.
“I’ve read about you two.” She said, weary about having to explain. “I can show you both… if you want. It can help you regain your memories.”
They both shot each other a look, trying to determine whether they should trust her or not. Just like they did when they fought titans, they were able to decide without speaking to each other.
It made her wonder how they were able to find each other, considering the fact that they have no memory of each other whatsoever.
“Fine.” Oulo said, “You’d better be telling the truth.” He averted his gaze to the side. It seemed to her that he was hiding something, or trying not to show her that he wanted to find out something from this crazy girl that had just happened to know their name.
She saw that they were hoping that they might remember what happened to them before they had awoken,
Or that Oulo would remember the life he used to live.
Or whether they would remember their previous occupations.
Or whether Petra would remember Levi.
(A/N) Hi friend!
New chapter is here yes. Uhh sorry this was such a shite chapter but like I really hope the next one is ok. But, Oulo and Petra make an entrance! Woo!
Last week i was so excited to write what supposed to be was this chapter, but I thought that things were happening too quickly for me to publish that yet, so I wrote this chapter to kinda clarify, (or confuse you more??) and to buffer things for a bit. But please don't fret, I have got the chapter halfway done and will be published on friday next week. If I don't publish it by then, you can give me a small pinch.
By the way, a really interesting question by lavacheese struck me and I should have addressed it. The question was whether if (y/n) died in her universe, would she resurrect in the Attack on Titan universe(?). I think that I might have tried to explain it but I didn't do it well enough so I will reiterate it.
Think of the attack on titan universe as earth and (y/n)'s universe as heaven. Once you die, you go to heaven, and there is no way of going to the attack on titan universe by dying in your universe. But don't think of it as "levi is dating a person from heaven haha he's dating a dead person." uhh it's more like, Levi Is dating a developed, original character in a book meant for those who have died in his book, and there are other developed characters beside those who have died in it. IDK have i explained it well enough?? if I havent you can certainly ask!!!
Again, thank you for commenting and voting, as well as following and adding this story to your reading lists. It means so much and it makes my writing so much more exciting knowing that people enjoy it.
Please message me for any questions or concerns or complaints! thank you. Sorry for the long author's note.
